  1. I agree altho I understand the temptation of trading a 30 sumthing pick away for a vet if you dont see good value on the board and want to strike while you believe it's go time. I think maybe Veach needs to settle down and take whats available in the first couple of rounds. Even perennial Playoff teams seem to need a so so year here and there to re arm using high teen lower 20 draft picks . Those years suck no doubt and at my age dont want to have to endure a year of MEH but it maybe a necessary evil
  2. Chiefs HC Andy Reid addresses defensive struggles after loss to Ravens Their one-point loss on Sunday at the hands of Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens has the Kansas City Chiefs doing some introspection, especially about their defense. Officially the worst team in red zone defense, and arguably the worst tackling team in the league through two weeks, Kansas City has hit a tough patch of defensive play early in the season. Without a doubt, this is not where the team thought they’d be after their sterling preseason performances. Back-to-back Super Bowl appearances had the Chiefs looking forward to being one of a handful of teams to compete for three straight championships, but without marked improvement on defense, they’ll be lucky to get out of the first rounds of the playoffs. Andy Reid is acutely aware of how bad the loss in Baltimore looked, assuring reporters that he and his staff have a handle on the situation in his press conference on Monday. Speaking of the team’s struggles defending inside the 20-yard line, Reid said defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has spent countless hours trying to find solutions, and that answers were likely to come when the defense does the basic things right consistently. “Yeah, so listen. Spags [Steve Spagnuolo] spent a lot of time in the offseason with that. We worked it a ton in camp, and we haven’t had the results here,” Reid explained, “We’ll keep pounding that out until we get it right. It’s one of those things, everything gets magnified when you’re in the red zone, whether it’s good or bad. “Even if you’re not tackling in the field, and it doesn’t happen in the red zone, you’re not giving up blocks up the field, then it’s going to get magnified in the red zone. Everything’s a little bit faster and all your strengths and weaknesses get magnified. So, you’ve got to make sure that you kind of get these fundamentals down and take care of it.” Asked how hard it is to fix the tackling issues mid-season, Reid told reporters that he thinks there is some kind of mental block holding Chiefs defenders back. “I thought we got better with it the second half,” He said of the defense’s inability to tackle. “Some of that’s a mindset, not being so cautious, rallying to the ball, narrowing space for runners, again when you’re being blocked, shedding and then wrapping up. Those are all important things, but some of it’s a mindset that you have to take care of, so that’s where we go with it” The worst offender of the defense’s tackling issues is veteran safety Dan Sorenson, who leads the league in missed tackles two games into the season. Reid explained the decision to keep Sorenson on the field instead of third-year safety Juan Thornhill, saying they both have a similar skillset but that Sorenson had a better training camp. “Juan (Thornhill) and Dan (Sorensen), they do certain things the same and a couple things different,” Reid said, “It all kind of equals out and Dan really had the better camp and so on. Maybe a little bit more consistency there, but we love Juan and where he’s getting himself back to where he was his rookie year. I don’t want to take anything way from the effort that he’s put forward to do that. They all get a chance to play. I think we’ll take it step by step here and can’t have enough of those guys that can play.” Thornhill only played a handful of snaps against the Ravens, but he could see an increased workload given Sorenson’s struggles. While there aren’t any magic-wand solutions on the horizon for Kansas City, Reid seemed confident in the team’s ability to get back to playing winning football. With a Week 3 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers in store for their second game at home, the Chiefs are sure to feel they have something to prove after their embarrassing loss in Baltimore.
  3. but Odafe Oweh was responsible for possibly the 2 biggest plays made by the Raven's D and he was the pick used getting the Brown trade ..I'm still debating in my head who I'd rather have this article kinda sums it up https://sports.yahoo.com/did-ravens-best-orlando-brown-110013285.html?fr=yhssrp_catchall Did the Ravens get the best of the Orlando Brown Jr. trade? When the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens agreed to a blockbuster trade involving LT Orlando Brown Jr., it forever entwined the two teams for the foreseeable future. As a result of the trade, Kansas City received Brown and the 58th overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. Baltimore received the 31st overall pick, 94th overall pick and future fourth and fifth rounders in 2022. At pick No. 31 overall, Baltimore selected Penn State DE Odafe Oweh and at pick No. 94 they took Georgia OG Ben Cleveland. At pick No. 58, the Chiefs took Missouri LB Nick Bolton. We likely won’t know the true winners of this trade until much later on as the Ravens still have two picks to make. Still, after the results of Sunday’s game, it’s hard to come away thinking that the Ravens aren’t the early winners in this trade. - ADVERTISEMENT - Oweh, selected with what would have been the Chiefs’ first-round draft pick, has been a playmaker through his first two games of the 2021 NFL season. Against Kansas City, he was involved in both of the turnovers that ultimately cost the Chiefs the game. Our friends over at Touchdown Wire noticed his part in Patrick Mahomes’ interception. Oweh masterfully fakes like he’s matching up in coverage with Travis Kelce before looping around and rushing Creed Humphrey on a delayed blitz. Oweh wraps up Mahomes, who attempts to throw the ball away, but couldn’t get enough arm on it. The results were Mahomes’ first September interception of his career. With the game on the line, Oweh also forced and recovered the fumble against Clyde Edwards-Helaire, slamming the door shut on any hopes of a Chiefs victory. Questioning whether Baltimore won this trade isn’t to say that Orlando Brown Jr. has been bad for Kansas City. In fact, he’s been pretty solid. After allowing five pressures in Week 1, Brown was credited with no pressures against his former team in Week 2. It’s also not to say that Nick Bolton has been bad either, he’s actually been one of the Chiefs’ best defenders against the run. But was there another way for the Chiefs? I think there’s no doubt that they could have kept Eric Fisher, who made his first start for the Colts in Week 2, returning from his Achilles injury. Sure, they would have needed to find a replacement at left tackle for Week 1 in this situation, but building offensive line depth was already a goal for 2021. Don’t go saying the Chiefs didn’t know he’d be ready to play either because that’s factually inaccurate. Rick Burkholder estimated in March that Fisher was looking at a mid-August return. I guess it all comes down to whether you would rather have Orlando Brown Jr. and Nick Bolton or Odafe Oweh, Eric Fisher and two more draft picks in 2022? After the loss in Week 2, it’s certainly worth asking the question and considering the possible alternatives.
  4. https://currently.att.yahoo.com/sports/chiefs-daniel-sorensen-leads-nfl-164558920.html Chiefs S Daniel Sorensen leads NFL in missed tackles after Week 2 he Kansas City Chiefs have a tackling problem and right at the cusp of their problem is veteran DB Daniel Sorensen. Sorensen has been the only Chiefs defender to play 100% of the defensive snaps for the team in back-to-back weeks. He’s also been good for a clutch play or two in each game so far, which is normal for the eight-year veteran. Still, it’s hard to ignore the glaring issues that he’s had when attempting to make tackles this season. According to Pro Football Focus, Sorensen leads the NFL in missed tackles with nine missed tackles through the first two weeks of the season. That’s three more missed tackles than the next closest defender and seven more missed tackles than anyone else on the Chiefs. If Sorensen continues to play 100% of the defensive snaps and miss tackles at his current rate, he’ll have 76 missed tackles at the end of Week 17. To put that number into context, the defender with the most missed tackles in 2020 had 22 missed tackles. While Sorensen was missing tackles left and right on Sunday, third-year S Juan Thornhill played just 11 defensive snaps against the Baltimore Ravens. Asked about the decision to go with Sorensen over Thornhill, Chiefs HC Andy Reid said he’ll eventually get his chance to play. “Juan and Dan (Sorensen), they do certain things the same and a couple of things different,” Reid told reporters on Monday. “It all kind of equals out and Dan really had the better camp and so on. Maybe a little bit more consistency there, but we love Juan and where he’s getting himself back to where he was his rookie year. I don’t want to take anything away from the effort that he’s put forward to do that. They all get a chance to play. I think we’ll take it step-by-step here and can’t have enough of those guys that can play.” You can rest assured that the opportunity for Thornhill might come sooner than later if Sorensen continues to miss tackles at an excessive rate.
  5. yea at the end of the day ( channeling my inner EB)a win is a win and right now they are in first and we are in 2nd place. I suspect we'll be 1-1 with the Bolts and Dirts this year.
  6. thats because our front 7 (6- Bolton)) cant tackle its has nothing to do with CEH I dont see Veach as the Carl Peterson type if #1 shows he's better I suspect we'll see #1 but he aint big or strong either. I seem to remember him being called last night as a "Scatt back". Hell even that FB aint what i'd call big either. I really wish we had a bruiser of an RB.
  7. With all the TD vs Int and Mr Sept BS on TV and on here it was the law of averages. MVPa'ts INT was the real killer, WTF was he thinking??. With all the shit you get on here you deserve to strut and I dont blame you. Facts are facts our Defensive line sucks & LJ is nothing more that an RB playing QB. I hope the Chiefs use this as a wake up ..Facts are facts and they are 1-2 in the last 3 games
  8. That INT MVPAT through was the real killer not CEH's fumble. Remember wayyyy back when Jamal Charles fumbles IIIRC against Denver on the 1 yrd line. Did he ever fumble again? I'm not throwing CEH or the pick under the bus
  9. might get to 35 sure would hate to see Bolts, Dirts and Donks at 2-0
  10. yea they look good. both Donks and Raiders 2-0..hate to be tied for 2nd at 1-1
  11. watching the Sat Gameday shows EB didn't seem to get much love
  12. yea the heart attack kids will be themselves again tonight
  13. maybe start to think about trading him before he's washed up?
  14. Reed in the middle altho not sure if he even did anything noteworthy last week
  15. quite the project but 2-3 years down the road ya never know
  16. not till next April..so hopefully he is no more of a distraction this season
  17. Possible? unless he becomes the NFLDPOTY he's F'n gone or The Chief's salary wise are cooked
  18. Chubb is a top tier RB and altho I dont have the game recorded to analyze the play I will say this. First games are extra difficult to prepare for IMO because over the off season changes are made, scheme's are refined. One had to expect Chubb or Hunt were going to break at least one run and yes it sucked but I'm not yet willing to let it get to me..now if it were the last drive winning run for Cleveland after 2nd half adjustments were made that'd be a different story. Who was playing that side during the play?
  19. time will tell but Aikman, Smith and Irvin weren't bad
  20. if your wrong are you willing to leave and save us the embarrassment of watching Hands ?
  21. pfft With his motto of waiting for the "right "job that could be along long wait + he may not be a very good interview. His 2 predecessors are on the hot seat and unemployed. The Andy Tree might not be that hot of an item anymore
