Which kills me because MVS and Toney are supposedly fast. It's not JUST a lack of talent. It's more than that. There's something else going on.

Not from me you don't. Iowa produces some talent, and it's usually underrated talent as they can't seem to get into the national championship picture. Hell I'd like to see a few Buckeyes get on the roster... specifically some of their WRs and OL. For some reason they don't seem to look that direction.

While I agree the penalties have been high, largely due to Taylor, their play hasn't been BAD. It's easy to blame them when Patrick has to hold on to the ball longer than at any time in his career. I don't know what the problem is. For it to go on so long makes me suspect it's coaching and playcalling, as much as it is underperforming players. I'm no expert, but there are a lot of QBs doing better than Patrick with less time. This is a direct factor of holding on to the ball trying to find an open receiver on EVERY FUCKING PLAY. I keep hoping they'll snap out of it... but they just can't seem to get there. Which makes me think defenses aren't respecting Andy's playcalling.

100K ain't chump change to Andy... maybe to Patrick. EDIT on second thought Andy makes over 12K a year just from the Chiefs not counting endorsements. Yeah, chump change I bet it was worth it tho...

It's easy to blame our horrible passing numbers on the OL, especially Taylor, who seems to find new ways every game to piss us off. But is this really the case? Closer examination of the numbers reveals Patrick's average time in pocket is top-tier this season, only bettered by Hurts, Stroud, Purdy and Jackson. Patrick has the same amount of pocket time as Jordan Love, Matthew Stafford and Russell Wilson... three QBs who beat us. He enjoys more time in the pocket than Allen, Herbert and Pickett. He has a full 12% more time in the pocket than Joe Burrow, Trev Lawrence and Tua. His pressures are higher that those above him, but that's because he's having to hold the ball longer to find a receiver. This ain't ALL on our tackles fellas. Obviously our receivers are not getting into their spaces on time. That's on them. It could be the playcalling too, where Andy just ain't fooling teams anymore, allowing defenses to take more risks. My gut tells me it's a combination of both. Pretty clear this is an ANDY problem.

Honestly, if we had some WRs who could get open, the tackles would look better. I'll bet you Patrick's average time in the pocket isn't all that bad.

I think the telltale sign of the officials fucking up was Andy pointing it out. He's got more experience than any of the officials on that field, he's a notoriously 'nice guy' that never loses his cool, and he's respected by everyone. The fact he was upset about it proves to me the officials blew it. Nobody will convince me otherwise. That said, we've been the beneficiaries of some controversial calls these last few years... the pendulum has swung the other way this season. It happens. I still think we have the talent to win it all this year, if we get healthy. I also still hope things will start clicking for the offense. Really, all we need is for Kelce and Rice to start getting a pile of receptions... because that will open things up for Grey, Watson and MVS.
