It's a bad comparison, TBH. Two totally different skillsets... 45 lb weight differential. Chris Jones will get his sacks, 9-10 per season as compared to 11-12 with DT... but Jones will disrupt the run game big time. Much as I loved DT... he was purely an edge guy... he had one role that he was excellent at, but it was a narrow, specialized role. We all remember Shanahan taking advantage by running right at him... culminating in an embarrassing MNF game with Sharpe's smack getting the best of him. Both are/were excellent players but IMO Jones is a more important contributor to the team because he can disrupt every play.

Certainly. There will be a few who have mortgaged their future. But there will be many who have a lot of space. Impossible to have the best QB in the league, the best TE in the league, the best interior DLman in the league, the best center in the league, the best kicker in the league, and the 3rd best CB in the league... without being a bit in the hole. Thanks for that. I don't follow the cap situation very close. How much of it is because the cap is going up? If it's significant, then it's really not an advantage because every team has the same advantage. All it really means is base rates for each position group will increase, as new contracts start rolling in. Now, I'm hoping most of it is just slick cap management by Veach & Co, and Patrick/Chris understanding that to stay in the game they gotta keep restructuring. If that's the case... then we're just getting onboard the Dynasty Train.

Glad to hear Lynne is doing well and the boys are enjoying the KC music world. Tell them to keep the grandkids coming. Nothing better than a house that's noisy with kids running around...

He had a great college career but injuries hurt him in his 2nd year as a pro. He had a decent year in '22 at DET but hasn't been as good as I thought he'd be. He would be one of those 'Andy Projects' I think... but he'd probably be cheap. If Watson isn't coming around, might be worth a look.

If he can pass pro like we think he can... he could easily be FB in Andy's scheme.

I remember the post-game interviews... you could tell it really bothered Chris... like deeply. From then on it seemed like he started playing smarter and being more of a leader. Probably why they didn't mind signing him long term this year.
