  1. I would like a veteran wr to add to this group. Hill, Hardman, Pringle, Tate/vet, Robinson, Fountain Powell to PS
  2. It’s a bargain on multiple fronts. He could be making more and his contracts forces other teams to over pay for inferior qb play which in turn gives us an advantage.
  3. I think arrowheadaddict is one of the least credible and knowledgeable sites covering the chiefs. I could be wrong but jmo.
  4. Crippling for sure xen. That team is a healthy qb away from being formidable and his contract could literally derail that. If Veach can nail this HB contract and figure a way to get Orlando and Hill resigned we have a 3-4 year golden opportunity to win a couple more SB's. Things are looking great at the moment and like you said Mahomes contract really makes a lot of that possible. I'm so pumped for the season to start!
  5. I did bring up the highest paid safety because that is what its going to take to resign him and he will be 33-34 when this contract is over. You said there are lots of safeties with his type of game playing to their mid to late 30's and I was merely pointing out that not there were not a lot of safeties playing to their mid to late 30's. 32-33 which is when most of the elite safeties retired is considered early thirties and most of those saw drop in their game those last year or two. I just don't love giving a guy who will be 30 when this extension starts a huge deal and expecting him to play at the level we've grown accustomed for the bulk of the contract. If he is willing to take a discount like every other great player on this team then I'm not going to complain to much and like you said extended him longer to give more flexibility with 2-3 out years might make the most sense. I just worry we start to see some decline in his ability this year or next and are then stuck for 2-3 more years. It seems like Veach has worked hard to avoid further bad deals like Frank and Hitchens but this is a tricky deal especially with Hill and Orlando needing new deals in the near future. Time will tell, hope Veach knocks it out of the park like the last couple of contracts!
  6. Yeah, I think this is where I am leaning as well.
  7. I think you are confusing me with someone who thinks he's not a bargain. I this his deal is a homerun. 500 million over 10 years is a lot of money no matter how its cut up, but how its structured and the fact we got it done quickly makes its a bargain, but more so when other teams have to pay lesser players equal and more money, thus tying up their cap space with a player not as good.
  8. Lots of safeties? Could you name a few? I looked and couldn't find many that were even remotely worth 15+ million per year after 32-33 years old. Troy P retired at 32. Earl Thomas under 32. Ed Reed 35. Eric Weddle 33 (a shell of himself the final 2 years). Harrison Smith is 32 but he is also a strong safety. Brian Dawkins, Charles Woodson, and Ed Reed are the only three I could find that played into their mid-late 30's. None of those guys were making even close to top safety money at the time. I would say most good safeties I looked at, declined after 30 years old and most retire in that 32-33 year range. HB is very diverse but what makes him good is that versatility to play multiple positions. If his speed decline he loses that versatility. He's already not the fastest guy so he can't afford to lose much.
  9. Hope you are right but I doubt he has 5-7 more good years. He is 29 and will be 30 next May. It’s the sort of contract that if HB can play at a high level throughout works great but if his game declines line a normal 30 year old in the secondary does could cripple this teams flexibility. Again, I’m not against them resigning him but for 3 years with an out after two. I don’t mind making him the highest paid for those two years either just don’t want a 4-5 year deal.
  10. I’m beginning to wonder if they aren’t going to let HB play out his contract and walk. I would love to have him back and he is the heart and soul of the D but he will be 30 next year and I can’t imagine he will want anything leas than a 3-4 year deal. He probably has 1-2 elite years left but he is already not the fastest guy so how fast does that become an issue. Hill and Brown will also be needing new deals and are far younger than HB. We will need all the young cheap talent we can get on this team.
  11. Less talented qbs will be making the same and more money soon. So while it’s a lot of money it is and will be a bargain comparatively speaking real soon.
  12. At one point they said we only kept 2 TEs the last couple of years on the roster……we kept 4 last year (Kelce, Keizer, RSJ, and the 4th just slipped my mind). Why say something like that when you don’t know. It’s like they were literally making crap up as they went.
  13. Nice toss and catch there. AFCWest you might be right...might have to keep Buechele (sp) on this roster. I already like Fountain better than every wr on this roster not named Hill, Hardman and Pringle.
  14. Yeah D has been stout tonight for sure. Jones with that nice sack, thornhill with that diving int, Hughes and Sneed playing tough. D is rounding into form.
  15. This announcer just said we only kept two TE's last year.....um we kept 4.
  16. I understand using what you got but if Spags would prefer Nieman to be his starter over upgrades available in FA then yes I question that decision. I don't question his place on ST and understand that players like that make the team for ST and position coaches have to use them. I can understand that if that is the situation but he has ranked as quite literally one of the worst LB's in the entire NFL so if you are choosing him over others then yes I do have the balls to question that. He is not good and we have two 2nd round drafted linebackers who can't take those snaps from him is a head scratcher.
  17. Hate....absolutely hate seeing Niemann on the field. I for the life of me can't understand how we can't upgrade his position. I like Spags but if Ben is here at Spags request then it makes me question spags. Dang he's bad.
  18. I like it. Still not sold he is our #2 but plays like that help.
  19. He is the perfect compliment back for this team. I especially loved him sticking his nose in there to block a blitzing Collins a few possessions ago.
