  1. I've read on twitter and a few other places about Veach overspending on Brown and Thuney and even with Clark..yada yada. I personally have no problem paying premium positions top dollars. I think Veach has it all under control 2021 Brown - 3m Thuney - 4.5 Blythe - 1 m LDT/Long - 6m Niang / Remmers - 4 m If we draft a center in the 2nd that has the potential to be a dominant Oline for under 20 million 2022 Brown - 20 m Thuney - 17.8 Landon/Creed/Quinn - 1 m (Yes I'm speaking this into existence lol) Wylie/Durant/Allegretti - 1m Niang - 1 m Still a potentially dominatn Oline if Niang develops is worth 41 million. Not really breaking the bank. I think we are positioned well to navigate a few of our big contracts very well. I think Veach has finished strong in FA this year and I think we are a Melvin Ingram/Justin Houston signing away from being well prepared to make a run a 3 straight SB's.
  2. That's all fine and dandy but there is not one team in the NFL that would trade their #16 pick in the draft for #31, #94, & #136 so the chart is way off. Again what team would trade #58 for a back end 3rd (36 spots behind) and middle 4th round pick? Charts are nice but they need to be somewhat believable or accurate.
  3. How does #31, #94, #136 = #16 ? Seriously? I know the old chart is old but what team would trade their #16 pick for #31, #94, #136? That makes no sense and that doesn't equate for the #58 pick which according to Rich Allens or anyone's chart would be worth more than #94, #136. Worse case we traded #31 for Orlando Brown straight up and then traded 93 and 136 for 58. Both are good deals.
  4. Mex, we couldn't have traded 93 and 136 for 58 straight up. Love it!
  5. You mean like last year when he drafted a talented developmental tackle, when we had the best RT in pro football who was a literal iron man and Fisher who had been super healthy. You can't foresee freak injuries like that. I do agree he's whiffed on some players but some of the issues aren't his fault. When was he suppose to take a tackle? When was that player suppose to get reps behind two stalwarts. And even if they did how would we view them any differently than we view Niang. Hindsight basis my friend. If your gonna pay players at least make sure they are the premium value positions and Veach has basically done that. I have no problem with paying Brown 20 million a year. We were gonna pay Fisher 16.
  6. This is true. I'm still completely fine with this trade. We weren't finding anyone this ready and this good at 31. As nasty as people say Teven is....Brown abuses people in the run game and is just as good as Fisher in pass bro.....probably better considering he doesn't get bull rushed into the pocket like Fisher dide.
  7. Absolutely love this trade and agree with you!. I don't think either team fleeced the other. They got a first rounder and a couple mid rounders and we got Orlando and a 2nd rounder. They weren't going to get much more for a one year rental and we actually do have the flexibilty to sign him long term. What I love about this is he will play a premium position so I don't mind giving him 20 million per year (The now going rate for good LT's). We were going to pay Fisher 16 million and I think Brown is better than Fisher. We get him for 3 million this year and we basically drafted the guy at 31 and still have 2 2nd rounders to address DE, WR, OC, LB, or DB.
  8. Look up the value for what we got and what was traded. We basically got Orlando Brown for a pick in the 40's. No way we could have gotten 58 for 94, 120 and next years 5th lol.
  9. Fleeced? The Ravens got 31, 94, and 120 plus next years 5th. We got Orlando Brown and 58. Look up the trade values for 94, 120 and 58. We got Orlando Brown for basically the 47th overall pick according to draft trade charts. I personally think it was a good trade for both teams. We would have had a hard time trading 94 and 120 for 58. Y'all would have had a hard time getting more.
  10. Wow! We did it! We got the 58 and 63rd overall this year as well. Not bad. Give up our first, third and fourth and next years fifth for Orlando Brown and 58 in 2021. I think that was a good deal for both sides. 58 and 63 still give us a chance to grab 2 out of 3 in OC, WR, or DE in the 2nd. I feel a lot better about this year now. Brown, Thuney, Draft, Long, Niang I like that Oline A LOT!!!!!!
  11. Video of Niang from whomever he was working out with this offseason showed him taking drop backs from the left side. First time he's been seen doing that. Wonder if the staff has told him to be familiar with both or he heard the press conference and took it as a opportunity. Either way he is a promising prospect. Glad we drafted him last year or we would be in a worse spot this year.
  12. My only issue with the SB was mixing the entire Oline up when they constantly preach continuity. We would have faired better with Rankin, Allegretti, Reiter, Wylie, Remmers than what we trotted out there, but not even sure that was Hecks idea so hard to blame him for it. My real issue is Andrew Wylie. They talk a good bit about him in a positive light when I've seen one or two goo plays in a years worth of work. It is a head scratcher to me, but hoping the Long signing means they know he's nothing more than a versatile backup.
  13. Do you sign a veteran LT like Peters just in case.
  14. That wouldn't be horrible. Would stink next year but if we can get EB a head coaching job then we could net another 3rd.
  15. I don't think Niang and Williams are mutually exclusive. They could really like Niang at LT but you can't pass up on the opportunity to protect Williams with the best LT.
  16. Everyone knows the Ravens can't keep him after this year so they don't have a ton of leverage. The chance of flipping a 3rd for a 1st again shows how awesome that front office is. My guess is it'll take a first and a mid to late rounder. I wonder if Veach is offering a 2022 first rounder....which would allow us to nab a DE or CB with 31. Would suck next year as the draft would be in KC but if we win a SB for it......pull the trigger Veach.
  17. I think I read somewhere that they liked him, love was probably strong. I think a lot of KC Chiefs analyst love him. I'm sure it was an embellishment on my part.
  18. Sign me up. Pony up Veach. Looks like a younger version of Trent Williams. Dude was mauling and moving well for his size.
  19. Might be why they love them some Tevin Jenkins because they view him as the starting RT. Regardless it gives the team options if one plays better at LT then leave him if not move him over and give that guy a shot at LT. The Doyle kid is talented and was recruited and I believe went to a power five school but had some off field issues that I think were pretty severe. Still nice measurables. I also wonder if this is coach speak to throw people off our selection at 31. Niang in his work out videos was striclty practicing from the right side....so who knows!
  20. True but BOB down in Houston skewed the scale so badly that punters now are worth a 3rd round pick. Seriously though, the Tunsil deal did screw the league. I do agree with Luv that no way your getting 2 1st or a 1st and 2 2nds for him. I think a first and mid-round pick because a team is going to have to pay that joker a lot of money and this year's cap makes that more difficult. Hand's I do agree that Brown is crapping on a team that took a chance on him.
  21. Hands, Orlando is a mammoth of a man. How is his quickness in getting back to protect on 5 & 7 step drop backs. I personally like proven commodities at positions of importance but not sure of his fit in our scheme. What are your thoughts?
  22. Brown is using us like Williams did. He wants to get more from TB. I for one wouldn't mind him. Our lockerroom is strong enough.
  23. Agreed but you never know. Offering up a first and an extension and knowing the Ravens can't keep him may force their hand some.
  24. Yeah even if you put Kelce out wide or at the slot and brought in another TE to block. Gotta double Hill and Kelce out wide leaving 7 on 8 if you take out Mahomes. Gotta be able to do something with those numbers. Had we not got screwed so hard in that 2nd quarter by the refs we might have felt more comfortable trying to run to get back in it but being down 21-6 was rough. I don't know why such a great coach and genius play-caller gets so hung up on things. Sometimes simpler is better. Mahomes can catch every record and he doesn't need to throw for 5000/50 to get there. Avg 32 for the next 15 years which is chump change for Mahomes and he breaks Tom's record. We don't have to sling it across the yard on every play. If we had a running game we would literally be unstoppable. Starts with the Oline. Develop your wr's don't buy them or overpay them. Pay the fatties up front because even with less stellar WR's if your Oline is great you can run, play action, and scheme your less talented guys open. Of you pay for elite wr's and no Oline and you get the SB. This is a big offseason for the Chiefs. We draft poorly like we've done in the past and we waste a lot of these talented guys prime. Veach does a lot of things great but he hasn't drafted great and wasting a generational talent like Mahomes is a fireable offense. GB had Farve and Rodgers and won 2......just 2 SB in over 20 years of play. Because they stuck to some stupid antiquated system of putting talent around him and often times over investing in the D. Hope we don't do the same here.
