  1. Well we went all in last year and kept guys around for continuity but by doing so you rob younger guys of opportunities to grow. Sorensen is a great #4, decent #3 safety, but it limits the D when he's forced to be a #2. What derailed this gravy train was both stalwarts at tackle got injured. Otherwise we would have upgraded LG and our Oline would only really need a starting C in the draft and a developmental OT. This whole offseason looks different. Imagine having Schwartz and Fisher back.....and having won back to back SB's. Crazy how a couple injuries can cripple you quickly. Sadly we don't have great depth because of poor drafts and a top heavy roster. With all that said we have Mahomes, Hill and Kelce and if we get a servicable LT we will be fine as our IOL is better. We just can't be reaching in this draft and we need to find 2-3 immediate/future starters and a couple depth pieces. Sky isn't falling, just yet. I think we sign Melvin Ingram, K'Quan Williams and an eventual FA WR will give us more flexibility in the draft. Its going to be ok. Think of this as a semi-rebuild all the while being the serious SB contenders. That's not bad.
  2. Veach is known for finding some gems amongst the rumble. He shines with these practice squad, bench, 3rd tier FA guys. I know we missed out on Williams and Juju but if you read their tweets they basically never wanted to leave their respective teams. We can blame Veach for his poor drafts and being in this position but reality is two freak injuries have put us here. Fisher and Schwartz don't get hurt and we are back to back SB champs and we are signing Thuney and looking to upgrade WR, DE and C in the draft and then addressing OT's in 2022. We just pushed that date to this year, so this is going to be a rebuild year on the Oline. If we do this right we still could win the SB this year and 2022-2025 we will be easily favored to do it again and again and again.
  3. Give him a couple million and if he returns to form load the contract with incentives. I don't mind having him as a camp body, but the truth is we need to see if Niang can play. He's the future. I'm more willing to get Schwartz in the building and then sign him later in the year if there is problems. If he only has a couple games in him better use them at the end of the year than the beginning.
  4. I think Pitts is far more of a generational talent than Sewell but you are right trading 3 first-rounders to grab an OT is stupid. This draft is loaded with tackle talent and its up to our scouting department to find the best one where we will be drafting. Darrisaw, Vera-Tucker, Mayfield, Jenkins, Cosmi, Liechenburg (sp), Radunz, Brown, Christensen (who is talented sleeper), and Walker. There are 12 potential LT prospects that could have 1st round grades. I dare say 6-7 will be available at 31. While Trent Williams is amazing we don't need an all pro at LT to win Super Bowls we need avg to above avg LT to win and we can find one of those at 31.
  5. It'll take more than that to move up to #6. I also like Slater better. There are questions about who has Sewell played and Slater has similar measurables and has played against way better talent. We might be able to swing that for your offer but as much as I don't love Hardman he is weapon for this team and we don't have a ton of wr options at the moment. To be honest I don't want to trade future picks. We got ourselves in this mess and we have to stop overpaying to get out of it. Scout the tackles well and if you need to move up in the twenties then so be it but this is the perfect draft to let your scouts save you. Draft your future LT at 31 and sign a veteran to battle it out with him. We will need that first-rounder next year as Hitchens, Kyle Long, Ward, and whoever else Veach signs to start this year on a one-year deal will be gone. Had Tyreek Hill, Kelce, Williams all caught passes from Mahomes in the SB there was a chance we could have won that SB with the worst line in possibly NFL history. LT is important but if that is the only position that is slightly under par then we will be fine.
  6. I think people forget that these guys have family and if their families are in a good place and the money is close its not worth uprooting especially during a pandemic year where people and family become that much more important. I don't blame Veach because I never thought they would make a hard run at a 33 year old LT. If Veach upgrades every other position on the line and he really only needs an upgrade a center to do that then we can get by with an avg LT for a year. Mahomes can handle one dude in his face especially if he knows where its coming from and Thuney on that side helps tremendously. Waiting till the draft can be risky but it wouldn't surprise me if they don't shift gears and bargian shot to upgrade a lot of positions and add depth then move up for the tackle they want in FA and let that guy battle for LT reps. I think Niang is gonna surprise some people like luv was mentioning. I also agree Schwartz and Fisher aren't in their plans....I am glad for that. Love those guys but it was time to cut ties.
  7. All this is true but most of those guys wanted to play and wanted to do right. This guy is in self destruct mode.....the Josh Gordon of lineman imo. Pass.
  8. I could Remmers starting at RT for a time but if both are then yes thing went horribly wrong. I actually think Niang beats him outright for the RT spot and surprises this year.
  9. Not sure about all this doom and gloom. We are already better or the same at 4 out of the 5 positions on the Oline. Way better at LG, if Allegretti or Reiter comes back we are a wash. We are better at RG with LDT/Long and Niang/Remmers at RT. We might actually have a pocket for Mahomes to step up into. We do need to address the LT position but Okung, Villanueva, Peters all offer reasonable LT play for one year and then drafting a LT in the first is a talented backup. At some point we were going to have a year like this were the Oline got reshuffled for the future. We still have FA to fill holes and the draft. This team was one slightly above avg LT away from probably winning the SB. We have cuts, 2nd tier FA's, and the draft to fix things......we will be fine.
  10. I'm feeling pretty upbeat so far about the offseason. Sure I would have loved to have had Trent but I don't think we are that desperate. Compared to last year we have upgraded LG immensely and I think we easily upgraded RG with either LDT or Long. If Reiter comes back he will be better with better guard play and I don't think it will be hard to upgrade there even with Reiter. Remmers was servicable at RT and Niang is pretty stinking talented plus you have Long as a dark horse there so every position is an upgrade except maybe RT which is a push. We should actually have a pocket for Mahomes to step up into for once and some lanes to running. We need a LT, DE, CB, LB and #2 WR. We have 20 million left in FA more than enough to find 2-3. Leaving our draft to fill the other two spots and add depth. There are still options in FA and via trade. Reports were a 2nd or 3rd could be offered for Brown. We could offer our 1st and pay him around 18-20 million. I would hate to part with a first but if you land your LT for the next 10 years so be it and it solves most of the line problems. I see a lot on Twitter complaining about Veach. He has done everything we had hoped. His press conference made it seem like Oline wasn't their biggest concern but then he went out and signed Thuney and was right there with Trent Williams. Which tells us they are not happy with the Oline. Remmers and Wylie are solid depth and can start in a pinch thats exactly what you want in a backup G/T. The market is shaping up nicely for us. Also if we burn through all our space now then we could easily miss out on a good player that is cut for cap reasons later on. This is far from over and we will be ok.
  11. Was going to mention family too, but didn't know if he was married with kids or not. He knows Pitts system and the only real issue is the lack of money this year so I'm sure he feels more comfortable in a system he knows and being the #1a or #1b option as opposed to learning a difficult system and being the #3 or #4 option.
  12. He has stated that he has no plans of leaving. Not sure if he will try and make a comeback but it seems as though they are settled. My guess is if the surgery relieved pain then he should stay retired and enjoy his life. Is one more ring going to be worth chronic back pain the rest of your life?
  13. Maybe that’s the downside to having Hill and Kelce and wondering if there is enough love to go around but seeing Golladay consider Chicago as a #2 instead of being our #3 is crazy. Oh well we got to the basically with the roster we have now amd probably would have won it if not for a LT tackle injury gives me big hope that all we have to have at this point is a slightly above avg LT.
  14. Word was Thuney helped his tackles in NE get paid because of his play. At this point be patient and get Villanueva for good price and then draft your guy round one and let them battle for it.
  15. They better sign now as cap space is gonna get tighter and tighter. I don’t want trade a first and 20 m for Brown because we should have just paid the extra million or two to get Williams and then had that first to fill another hole. With that said I could get on board with Villanueva. Wonder if we wait this out now and see if someone gets cut.
  16. Don’t think either saves much because the restructured the last couple years. So when dudes tell you the cap isn’t real you show them Hitchens and Frank’s contract. We are stuck with both, at least one more year for Hitchens and two with Clark. At least Hitchens looked better last year and Clark is due for a bounce back. Gotta be careful who you restructure because you are basically stuck with those guys for the duration of their contract
  17. They are going to make a hard push for him but it's gonna come down to money, location, and if he has a desire to play for a contender. We got the contender part down but the money and location might not be to his liking. Time will tell.
  18. I see people crying the Cap is a myth and while there are many ways to massage and be creative within the cap there is definitely a cap and it will eventually get you if you screw with it to much or you miss on a few players to whom you give big contracts. Restructuring a players salary to a bonus adds money to each year remaining on their contract so 3.4 million a year for the next year 4-5 years for Mahome doesn't sound like a lot but if you do that 5 times this year then you've added 15 million to the cap for the next 4-5 years. Doing that with elite players isn't an issue but if you miss or that player drops off then you are stuck. I know people think Mickey Loomis is a brilliant with the cap but eventually it will catch up if the cap doesn't sky rocket and even if it does a team like the Saints are overpaying for avg talent because the market will adjust and they won't be able to pay players what the new and increased cap dictates. I don't like kicking the can down the road but this is one offseason I am ok with it as long as the draft adds players that will contribute this season and future seasons. If Veach whiffs again like he did in 2018 and somewhat in 2019 on the draft then we will be in trouble in a couple of years. Thankfully he has found some udfa gems and some shrewd FA moves that have compensated for those drafts. One thing is certain that Mahomes is already a bargain as he is the best qb in the NFL and by the end of the first 5 years could be paid like the 10th best qb.
  19. Probably right but as the third option he would be more available than Watkins. He is definitely not my first choice.
  20. I wouldn’t mind if he came for like 2/10, but anything over that wouldn’t be cool and I would still want a 2-4 round wr to develop yoo
  21. I think on a three-year deal you are getting 2 elite years and that last year is probably on par with Fisher. Either way it falls in line with the rookies we draft and Niang who will be getting close to their 2nd contract. Imagine finding a stud LG next to him....those 3rd and shorts a defense would have no clue how to stop us.
  22. 3 years at 17 million a year.....sign me up today! Reiff or Okung are gonna cost ~10 million. To me I'd rather have the elite guy at 17 per than the avg guy at 10. Reiff or Okung could both tear their ACL in camp as well which would put us in the same situation. I still think we should draft a developmental player too.
  23. Saw somewhere market value for Reiter could be close to 10 million....I was thinking I pity the fool that signs him for half that much. How ironic would it be that Mahomes makes Reiter appear good enough that we could potentially earn a comp pick for his play. If that happens Mahomes is with out a doubt a master wizard!
