  1. Nah, if they just cut those two guys at the front end of FA they have a plan and it's not Wylie at RT. That move today was cold, calculated, businesslike and necessary.
  2. This is such a fun time of the year. I was really wondering what Veach was going to do here. If he made this move that means no one is safe. He will make moves he thinks will better the team regardless who you are and I love that about him. Doesn't mean he will always make the right call but he is making logical and difficult ones now. Yeah I think Reiff and Peters are both options. I forgot about Reiff and he said he would be willing to play guard if it helped the team. Guys like that will love playing for a winning team and if they draft a developmental guy they can swap spots in a year. I like Peters too but wonder if he can last another year at 39.....dude was a monster though. Trent Brown was my FA crush and I think he's worth the 3-4 year 60-80 million deal but I don't know if we can afford that unless Reid and Co are ready to draft 2 high end IOLs. Brown - Draft - Draft - LDT/Allegretti - Niang is a little scary.
  3. Wonder if Jason Peters is a stopgap option in this case. Can't imagine us spending all our money in FA on Trent Brown even though the dude is a stud!
  4. I hate this for both dudes, as they were an important part of our SB run. However, from a football perspective, this was a homerun by Veach. You don't build dynasties on sentimentality. Both were huge question marks and their contract outweighed their value by a lot. You can't have 22 million tied into two 50/50 bookends. We drafted Niang to be one and now we have a chance to build a young better oline. I don't see bringing either back because both have dead money attached to their cut, even at $5 million per year, you are close to what Schwartz was already making and he would be the most logic one to bring back. Time to invest in oline in the draft and fill some holes with veteran leadership. Protect Mahomes and we win that SB, Protect Mahomes and the D is good enough, Protect Mahomes and we are the next dynasty.
  5. 2.5 million more than last week. If Veach can sign Mahomes, Jones and bring back Watkins for $175..... This pessimistic is trying to see that glass half full........dang it’s so hard to do!
  6. BB got Trent Brown for a 5th round pick. I mean no way the Raiders are giving Brown to us for a 5th but still. Teams can manuever the cap but if they back load contracts it only hurts them down the road. I think being patient we will find plenty of solid players that will play for way below value, just gotta be patient, which sucks for us fans.
  7. Dude was good when he retired and seems to be shredded and feeling great! Didn’t he play center at a high level. Sign me up in a hurry. Veach is gonna find some great value for pennies on the dollar!
  8. Golladay is gonna want Allen Robinson type money 15-17 million low end.
  9. Another interesting guy that seems like a typical Veach guy would be Reuben Foster. A lot would have to check out first like his health and then the off-field issues but he hasn't been in the news in the past year which is a good thing for him. New leadership in Washington might be worth a low round pick. If healthy and mentally right, he would be a major upgrade in the LB department.
  10. I don't know that dude is a head case. Talent or not sometimes that isn't worth dealing with.
  11. Exactly. Sentimental stories belong on a card at Hallmark not necessarily on the sidelines of a football team with a QB who can make history if this organization doesn't drop the ball.
  12. Still the cap is flexible so you could always back load contracts. I agree we will see a lot of 1 year vet deals but that will be for mainly the avg veteran. Good FA's are going to get paid, just more guarantees and more on the back end.
  13. Saw on the ol Twitter that the Chiefs expected to show interest in Jason Peters. Probably the perfect stopgap for Eric Fisher. He's old but is still above avg and if he would be willing to slide into G......that left side would be pretty incredible. Would still like to invest in a future LT either way in the draft.
  14. Fuller? Just a speedy deep threat Sammy Watkins IMO. I’d take JuJu or Marvin Jones (shorter term) over Fuller. Plus’s Fuller drops to many passes. However, give me Golladay all day long or Allen Robinson.
  15. Let those teams spend money now. There will be a rash of cuts and the money will eventually dry up with quite a few good players still available, Veach being patient this offseason is probably for the best. We don't need superstars to win the SB we need slightly above avg players on the Oline and a couple holes filled with servicable players and then pray our Oline doesn't run into a buzzsaw again.
  16. First to score wins? Not a huge fan as I think it benefits one team over the other like the former rule did. Doesn't matter where they place the ball as the 2nd team just goes on offense and if you place it anywhere near the 50 it's a huge advantage for one team. Keep it as it.
  17. Vera Tucker reminds me of Brandon Albert. Talented and versatile OL. He would be perfect under these circumstances. Starts at LG and slides over if Fisher can't go. Love it. Doubt he's there though.
  18. EB not getting hired hurts in t he draft department. That extra third this year could have gotten back up in the second round to grab another plug and play OL. Oh well.
  19. I could see them drafting a LG and C and rolling with that they have at LT. Which is great on one hand and scary on the other. Maybe they think between Niang, Wanogho, and Rankin they have enough depth compensate for injuries.
  20. I understand wanting to get both of those guys back but the reality is 2021 could turn out to be deja vu of 2020 because neither of those guys are a sure fire 16 game starter. If I was a betting man I would say Schwartz doesn't make the year and Fisher is going to be severely limited less than a year off a achilles tear. Having a guy like Niang in the wings is huge but he can only play one side. I hope the news of Fisher and Schwartz coming back doesn't keep them from drafting a future LT. While I love making the big splash in FA we could use a couple of really good under the radar signings that don't break the bank but fill positions of need for us and give us freedom in the draft to go BPA each round. I trust Veach and I'm sure they have a plan.
  21. “I certainly think it’ll be a combination of both,” Veach responded. “We do like some of the young players, their progress and their development. Andrew Wylie is showing he can play on a consistent level at that guard position, and [Nick] Allegretti took a step forward. We’re anxious to get [Lucas] Niang back, so we have a nice blend of young players that will continue to get better and will continue to improve — but certainly, our focus will be to bring in some new talent.” The bolded and underlined part of this quote made me throw up a little in the back of my mouth. I pray that is GM speak and nothing more. Hear me out. I don't mind the guy being depth but he isn't very good. The only consistent think he did most of the year was play poor minus a couple games versus a poor dline.
  22. How much of that is real vs keeping the cards close to the vest? He also said he would like Sammy back, but Sammy isn't worth a dime over $5 million and I can't see Sammy taking that nor do I really want to pay a guy $5 million to ride the pine because of various ailments.
  23. Money talks. While AZ is a good team, SF will be back after their rash of injuries, Seattle will probably be better and so will the Rams. Good Luck.
  24. I agree that if we want this to be a dynasty we are going to have to draft well each and every year. With that said where we draft it is going to be hard to find a plug and play LT which protects Mahomes blind side. Stopgaps are inevitable because of injuries and because this team is top loaded with big contracts but agree that Oline needs to be drafted in the top 4 rounds each and every year regardless.
