  1. I love always taking the bpa but there does need to be some balance. I would prefer we stay active in FA and fill some of our biggest holes which would allow us to go more bpa. Maybe these TV deals will help us out and get the cap closer to what it was next year.
  2. I do like the idea of a veteran stopgap center. We will probably have a few younger guys on the Oline and a veteran presence calling out protections isn't a bad thing. Plus you don't have to play at Rodney Hudson's level to be an upgrade over Reiter.
  3. That is what I was thinking. Offer them a 6th or 7th and slot him in at LG. But a kid drafted in the first round who can't stay out of trouble after a team invested millions in you is probably asking for trouble. What a busted pick by the Titans.
  4. I've seen Walker Little going late 2nd-4th rounds. I don't mind us drafting him but wouldn't want to use a first on him. Jaylen Mayfield is the guy who flashed this season in limited playing time at Michigan. I know I've been a big proponent of going after someone like Trent Williams but we really do need to invest multiple picks in our Oline for financial and continuity reasons. We might be able to patchwork our db's and lb's together but that Oline needs to be 80% each and every year for the next 5-6 years. Hoping Mitchel Schwartz can get fully healthy. That would be absolutely huge for us. Giving Niang another year to develop and be the swing tackle. Still need a LT, LG, C. I like Allegretti but more as depth than a full time starter. Osemele should be in the mix if healthy and then go draft some studs. Would you guys be upset if drafted Jaylen Mayfield in round 1 and then traded back up to grab Landon Dickerson in the middle of round 2? Those guys along with Niang would give us a young trio of bookends and center for the next 4-5 years.
  5. There is definitely truth to what you are saying. It would have been better to roll Rankin, Allegretti, Reiter, Wylie, Remmers. Which will always confuse me. Continuity only happens when guys play the same position on the oline and learn how to play next to the same dudes. What we did in the SB was move guys who had gotten comfortable next to other sub par dudes and they made it work to a decent degree of success but moving them all around was a recipe for disaster. Regarding Gay. I think he was definitely an upgrade over Nieman but it was clear he didn't have a clue what was going on and needed those other trash LB's to help get him in position. I'm holding high hopes this offseason helps because he is a physically gifted player and we need him to play all 3 downs.
  6. You are right but Oline play had a lot to do with that. Your D looks amazing when 4 dudes generate 50% pressure. They were on him so fast even screens wouldn't work. Mahomes knew it too in the 2nd half....played his heart out but there wasn't any confidence in that oline. I would like another talented TE so you could run more heavy personal and run some hurry with Andy creating deep routes, then screens, and runs with that personal. Would be a ton of fun to watch!
  7. Thornhill is the only one worth a 2nd round pick. Gay is super talented but you can't draft a guy who can barely see the field in his first year when our LB core was so pathetic. Seriously its not hard to deduce iq and rapid decision making prior to the draft. If he can't learn the system fast enough he can't be the 2nd round pick there. And I like the guy and glad we drafted him but 2nd round was steep. Hardman has been somewhat of a disaster since he got here. We have to manufacture touches for him and he was a super raw route runner which should have been a huge major flag. The idea that we had to have a speed guy to make our offense work is a slap in the face of Mahomes. Speaks was a head scratcher from the get go a tweener with a motor but no real skill and regardless if the team running a 3-4 to draft an undersized DE and overweight and lacking athlete for OLB it just didn't make sense. Juan was a home run until he got hurt. 1/4 deserved the pick 2/4 have value but more in the 3rd/4th round and 1/4 was a colossal bust. I love Gay but I'm not overconfident he is going to be able to play 3 downs next year. I hope I'm dead wrong but there wasn't much progress this year and anyone that athletic that can't get Ben Niemann off the field is concerning. I also don't have any confidence Hardman can do anything other than be a speed gadget player moving forward.
  8. Its that 2nd round that Veach needs to get cleaned up he has missed far more than he's hit....but get him to the 3-5 and dude starts cookin.
  9. The arrowhead podcast said we could potentially get above 30 million in cap space. Which if done correctly is enough to grab 2 upper tier FA and a handful of vet minimum guys. Where we draft the WR's in round one don't hold much value so I would definitely make a FA wr the top priority. A DE opposite Clark would help the entire defense immensely but our D is good enough as is if we had to roll next year as is. There will be good OL value in the first round and 2nd round but I would pursue a LT in FA as well. If Schwartz does come back then between him and Niang the RT position is locked up and Rankin (here's looking at you luvhouse) /LDT/Durant cand hold down RG leaving LT, LG, C depeneding on how you feel about Allegretti. I know Trent Williams is older but dude is a brick house. If we are going to make a run at it might as well get a stone wall for the next two years and drafting a developmental LT in the mid rounds. So my two FA crushes are Trent Williams and Allen Robinson. 1. Jaelan Phillips DE - Stud DE opposite Frank 2. Brevin Jordan TE - This offense is gonna be historically scary with Robinson and Jordan. 3. Jackson Carman - Developmental LT - Starting LG 4. Tony Fields - WLB - Ben Nieman's replacement .... my new favorite Chief. 5. JaCoby Stevens - S - Sorensens replacement 6. Greg Eliand - Massive OG prospect 7. LaBryan Ray - DT Rotational Depth
  10. What about the Romeo Okwara kid from Detroit? Would be considerably cheaper and could potentially be a very good player. I'm not crying over JJ Watt. Guy is an amazing dude and was once an unstoppable force but he's now just an above avg injury-prone DT. He would have been fun to watch next to Chris Jones but we will be fine. If we are going to pay 15-16 million why not make a run at Shaq Barrett? Not saying we should just saying if we are spending that kind of money why not get a healthy players or better yet sign Trent Williams or Allen Robinson/Chris Godwin.
  11. Thought about this and we have Niang so I think you have to move forward just without the possibility of recouping some of that money by cutting him. Which isn't a horrible thing if he's healthy. Draft or sign a FA LT and draft or sign a FA center. The rest of the offseason stays the same. Only down side is Schwartz plays 3-4 games and then gets hurt again and we sunk 10 million into a OL with back issues for the year and you hate to lose out on another year of Mahomes career because of major OL injuries.
  12. Does anyone wonder why he waited until now to have the surgery? Short recovery or not? Think possibly it was to string out this injury enough that the Chiefs can cut him and instead have to injury settle? Again if that's the case I don't blame him one bit as I would totally do the same. Just curious this wasn't done earlier. There was no real attempt to even get back for the playoffs. Again not judging just saying seems like the smartest move on his part. My hope is he recovers and we get Mitchell back because he's amazing and that would go a long way towards fixing our Oline and his 10 million salary is relatively low.
  13. I'll play the devil's advocate here. So after three months and not being able to play in the AFC Championship game they still had hopes of him playing in the SB? That was over a month ago. I never saw or heard anything to give hope at all entering the playoffs he was even trying to play. Probably could have just as easily had the surgery a month ago. My guess is he waited so that the Chiefs couldn't cut him because he's still injured. The biggest issue is his roster spot and how much can we count on him returning to form after missing a year and how reliable can he be because if he last 2-3 game and is then out then we are in the same situation as we were last year. Hate to say it but its time to move on and that probably means an injury settlement. Mahomes can't last 10-15 years (if he wants to play that long) with an Oline anywhere near what we had last year. Time to pony up and get some reliable better players up front. With all that I understand he has a family to provide for and he should and will make the best deciions for him and his family and any of us would. Wish him the best and hope the surgery is a success. Back issues suck and he has his whole life in front of him.
  14. Pray his surgery is successful and goes well but back issues are rough to come back from. Also wonders if this complicates the teams plan. Was it me or did it seem like Mitchell’s previous comments weren’t so optimistic about the future.
  15. We went through this with Berry. He was an amazing player an I hate he's having back issues as they suck, but keeping him around hoping this gets better on its own is a bad gamble. Time to move on and let him retire with dignity. We win the SB this year if he and Fisher had played.
  16. We all assume Jason and Travis want to play together. You all realize they are different dudes. Jason is the lunch pale guy and Kelce is the diva (without the drama). Sometimes family don't do well together. This is Travis's team and maybe playing together isn't the best for either. Not saying I know this just a thought. After listening to the arrowheadpride podcast they tracked out a path where we could get easily north of 30 million free in cap which is more than enough to grab a couple high end guys. Why not grab a Trent Williams, Von Miller and a couple mid tier wr's like Josh Reynolds and Marvin Jones. Draft a Tevin Jenkins in the first. Williams, Jenkins, Allegretti, LDT/Rankins, Niang That would be a nasty left side of the oline for sure.
  17. If this is the route they go we better be getting Allen Robinson!
  18. It was the Chiefs own fault in a way. Houston wanted a new contract but was denied then gambled on himself and had the 20 plus sack season. Had the Chiefs signed him knowing he was a good player they would have saved 10's of millions of dollars. Which come to think of it was probably why he was upset that he didn't get his contract reworked before that year, because he did outplay that 3rd round deal. With all that said who could have seen those two getting career altering injuries and Houston having to play in Bob Sutton's idiotic defense. Both contracts were crippling to the organization but like you said can't blame them for wanting to get theirs.
  19. Both of those guys would be massive upgrades on this team and neither are amazing players.
  20. Yep. Ultra talented guy but winning in the nfl is more than talent. That group talent wise was very talented but mentally weak. Frank Clark might not get as many sacks or pressures but he plays the run better and most importantly he is a DAWG and holds himself and that D accountable. I don't hate Houston, I hate that knee injury happened to him because he was peaking on an elite plane before the injury.
  21. I was referring to him having any ill will towards an organization that paid him 100 million for 3 garbage years. He wasn’t a leader and he had to be motivated by a backup trash DT. That isn’t what we need around here.
