  1. Well it would only take Hitchens and Sorenson and yes we could absolutely field a good defense without those guys. While Sorenson made some key plays in the playoffs his play overall is avg at best and Hitchens is atrocious. If your best quality is getting guys aligned correctly....literally that is his only decent quality and you make 15 million a year......yikes! It will go down as Veach's worst contract ever when its all said and done imo. Yes the idea is to keep everyone together for a run it back tour and if all we get for Jones is a 3rd round comp but we get a back to back ship......then it was probably worth it.
  2. I think they did plan for it and I don't think they were lying to us about wanting him back. . Niang was Fisher or Schwartz replacement next year imo and Hitchens, Sorenson and Watkins all come off the books or can come off the books next year. Covid and the Colts absolutely screwed the deal up imo. I'm not sure there is a better comparison in the league for Jones than Buckner.....yes Chris is a bit better but by every metric its pretty close. Now all those moves needed to make it possible will just make it possible to get Mahomes done. Better keep drafting well and churning old vets like Veach is known for.
  3. I think they could absolutely pay him if the cap continued to climb like it has for the past decade. Veach would have had to massage the cap but it could have been done ,but the issue was the drawn out covid pandemic is that will likely cause a drop in the cap next year which makes any sort of a long term deal very dicey. Talk about the world conspiring against the Chiefs attempt at a dynasty run. I think Chris is elite and I would rather have him than Hitchens, Sorenson and Wilson would combine make what Chris Jones is asking.
  4. Oops saw headlines about Joe Delaney this week and made a quick assumption. Yes, Deland's story is incredible and definitely a tear jerker.
  5. Knowing you don't know how to swim and still going in anyways......this world needs more people like Joe.
  6. FAs can definitely help but always relying on FAs puts you in the “catch lightning in a bottle” category not in a “build a dynasty” category. Got draft well and also have coaches that can develop players.
  7. Well the Bengals were tied for first but I counted more than 18 guys on our team that we drafted. Are udfa not considered in this? The Ravens do a great job of nabbing guys for their system. What amazes me is they are almost always a good team in t he playoffs which means their picks are top 10 year in and year out, yet they end up drafting studs. I think we finally have an organization all on the same page now and we finally are in the same conversation but we definitely don’t have the longevity yet. Only time will tell.
  8. So you team needed to go for it more because ..........they couldn't get the first down in 3 attempts? Also Mahomes was successful 80% to LJ's 70%..... Thanks for proving what we already knew. Again, I like LJ and he's really really good but his season wouldn't have won the MVP in 2018 any way you stack it.
  9. Agreed. He changed the dynamic of our D with his playing ability and the mentality.
  10. Ah Werthers.....good riddance. In my opinion Werthers cost Andy a ring maybe two.
  11. Curious what happens after this year. Due 21 million in 2021. Gotta think we extend him while reworking that final year....or do we consider letting him walk? He’s so good for what we do on D.
  12. lol he wants 20 million per......no thanks.
  13. Speaking of Clowney and how close it is to the season. Could Veach find a way to scrounge up 8-9 million and sign him to a one year 14 million dollar deal. Give him a great chance for a SB ring and he can retry in FA next year. Would probably net us a 3rd rounder after he scores a big deal. We would literally have the best DL in football. It would cost us Sorensen and probably Speaks and another cut to get there and we wouldn't have much left but that line would be nasty.
  14. I see Breelands suspensión as an opportunity to see some of these young guys, which will be important to know what we actually have. It happens at the perfect time because of our continuity and this offseason. Should soften the blow just a bit. I have high hopes one of the new guys will pan out and be a steal for us.
  15. Saw somewhere on Twitter the Chiefs would have to offer Thornhill and our 1st for Adams. I was like no thank you. While Thornhill may never be as good as Adams we don’t know how good he can be and then offering our first and then having to give him a huge extension would be crazy. I would rather keep Jones, Thornhill and our first rounder next year instead of one very good S.
  16. He was a 4th round rookie. What you are saying is true but any team would be elated if their 4th round DE has double digit sacks. They are a better team but without a good qb they remind me of the 2017 Chiefs. Talented group but everything has to come together perfectly to win.
  17. Um, maybe the other way around. Lamar is a very good qb. His skill set is different than Mahomes. Injuries are a bigger concern for him and his skill set than for Mahomes and he isn't in the same hemisphere as a passer but LJ is a dynamic runner and in a different hemisphere in than regards. They are both exciting and good for the league.
  18. I think it was a great opportunity for him. Love the signing!
  19. What I like is that the teams that will give us the biggest issues moving forward will have to overpay to keep their qbs who aren’t as good as Pat. Balt will have to probably pay LJ more and Deshaun Watson will be in the same breath by the time those deals get done. Again smart that Veach is focusing on Pat now and that should dictate what we are capable of doing with Chris Jones and others. Also interesting Veach went out and grabbed a possible future OT in this years draft with Laremy Tunsil and probably Ronnie Stanley resenting the OT market. Some talks Stanley is likely to make 25 million per year. Sheesh....Balt gonna lose a lot of talented people when they have to overpay for LJ.
  20. Agreed. I’m not even sure what I said in the comments and I’m too lazy to look but I’ll eat crow regardless because I’m sure I took a shot or two somewhere in there.
  21. Either way I’m glad we got Spags along with House, Daly and Madison.
  22. I think we saw another advantage after the draft this year with having such a dynamic offense and a defense that will always be needing plug and play guys and diamons in the rough, in the udfa pool. Offensive guys that missed out or fell because of other reasons are definitely gonna want to come and play with Mahomes and in an offense that will be churning through playmakers in a few years. On defense there should always be opportunities to step in and contribute because of the size of contracts to certain players the need will be large to fill some holes via player development. Gonna be hard to keep that defensive staff together for long though. Daly could be getting DC calls as soon as the of this year if our Dline has another good year like last year and especially if he can keep developing Kpass, Saunders, Nnadi and guys like Charlton. House is another name, but since our talent pool hasnt' been as good as the dline we might be able to hide him for a couple years. Either way player development will be a premium as long as Pat is a Chief.....which we all hope is for 15 more years.
  23. What gives me hope about Taco isn't the words coming out of his mouth but the staff we have in place that can maximize him to his fullest potential. Doesn't guarantee he will be good, but the more obstacles you remove in a players way the better chance you have of getting what you hoped for production wise. Sheesh just look at Kpass. Every beat writer wrote that dude off and we saw a guy make huge leaps throughout the year. Under Sutton he was a bum because that staff didn't know what they were doing. I would really love to know what actually happened the year Spags sat out. Did he choose to take a year off thus forcing Andy to keep Sutton or did Andy's hesitation with Sutton force Spags to wait a year. I think we win the SB in 2018 pretty easily with that group if Spags was the DC. I know I know that is water under the bridge but I'm really impressed with our defensive coaching staff.
  24. Yep. Alex Smith with Sammy Watkins isn't better than Pat Mahomes without Sammy Watkins. I'll take our chance with the best.
