  1. Sorry reposted this earlier and forgot.....
  2. His resetting the market is a good thing in all honesty because now all those other teams with good qb's are going to have to overpay. Better to be first than wait. Veach knows this.
  3. Saw this on twitter and actually thought it was very well done. I mean I was hoping Pat might take 35 and work up to 40 but lets be honest. He's worth 40 in comparison to what other qbs are making and his cap hit the next three years allows us a little wiggle room. The first year looks to make room for a Chris Jones deal. Just thought I'd post and mention that the salary cap really is flexible.
  4. 40 would be steep but next year's 5th year option is already 25 million so whats 15 more for the best player in the NFL. The guy still hasn't peaked which is really scary. I think Veach has done a nice job of positioning us to get out of some contracts next year so we can make this work. Obviously we won't be nearly as talented overall and it will force us to hit more than miss on draft picks but having the best player at the most important position gives us a chance each and every year.
  5. No I'm predicting that if we don't put better lineman in front of Mahomes we might end up being the GB Packers 2.0. Looking back at the end of his career and realizing we didn't protect him well enough to win more SB's or we get him nicked up and we don't get to see top shelf Pat as much as we would like. We will always be good with Mahomes but we are looking at a potential GOAT and protecting him should be important. Doesn't mean we need our 2002 Oline but we need to continue churning OL until we find above avg players. We don't need to sign avg players to huge contracts and keep plugging him in when he's clearing not the best option.
  6. I know Balto, I’m just giving you a hard time. And I don’t mind your trade scenarios. Keeps content moving during the slow times.
  7. He was never play center before his injury. Stadiums are loud and protections are called out by centers. That isn’t done in baseball and or basketball and there also isn’t a helmet that muffled voices/hearing. Hockey maybe, but again they aren’t calling our coverages to players. Clear communication is really important. Again I’m not saying it is a problem just a possibility.
  8. To be honest he is a 3rd pick and if he develops into at least a above avg guard then I think we would all be happy. Like others have said this will be our MO for the next decade and I’m glad they keep adding to the pile. Eventually you find a keeper.
  9. And yet you ship him off every chance you get 🤷‍♂️
  10. With no D that is gonna force Lock into a lot of throwing to play from behind and while he's got lots of talent he doesn't have "it" so we shall see but I think his ceiling is maybe a pro-bowl or two but thats if they get him a better line.
  11. I think our tackles are very good. I meant the interior of the line being good. Which would be an upgrade over last year. Niang is the future starter at one of the tackle spots next year. I honestly think they move away from Fisher which would be a huge savings. Being the swing this year would be important because last year it cost us Rankins and it reinjured Mahomes ankle.
  12. I'd prefer we put Wylie back at RG where he looked his best, and Rankins at LG with an open competition between Reiter, Allegretti and Williams at C. LDT can be a backup and Niang can be the swing tackle. That's my preference if we don't make any other moves. I don't like paying LDT that kind of money as a backup but I like the fact he has lots of experience. If Allegretti, who i've heard has a mean streak, could take over that spot then we might be avg across the front which is a good bit better than last year. We seem to know what to look for in centers and I believe the rumors that Cesar Ruiz was probably our #1 guy. If true that means we realize Reiter is not a long term answer.
  13. Probability has a way of biting people in the butt. Put enough trash in front of Mahomes and and that probability increases more than any of us are comfortable with.
  14. He’s signed next year at 4 million. Post June cut next year is a 2 million savings.
  15. According to over the cap we basically restructed him for 2 years for what he was going to make this year alone. The down side is cutting him post june cost us his total contract in dead money so might as well keep a familiar face on the team. I mean it did make sense as cutting him before would have only saved a million or two,. I think in hind site cutting him with a guy like Warford makes more sense but how could Veach have known. My hope is getting a better C next to him will help elevate his play but lets get real, he's playing next to the best RT in the L who didn't give up a single sack last year. All we can do is hope he returns to at least an avg guard this year. I wouldn't mind trying him at center though, does his thick french accent make it hard for him to communicate under game conditions?
  16. I do think weak interior Oline play hurt but for a fourth of the year we were missing our most dangerous wr and our LT. But teams were ready and they all wanted a crack at Pat. After we made adjustments we did just fine.
  17. Hope thats sarcasm. Texans lost Hopkins. We gonna stomp them. Chargers are trotting out Tyrod Taylor. We gonna win that too. Baltimore is good. They have a shot to win. Patriots will be good on D and below avg on O. We win that game. Worse case we got 2-2 and more than likely we end up 3-1.
  18. I forgot about Danna too, even though I project him more as DE/hybrid. If my memory serves me correct Spags liked Kpass more on the interior than on the edge. Like y'all said, he better come in ready to roll.
  19. That is my concern. I have my doubts he will too. Last year he had a great opportunity with a new DC and the chance to play his natural position and he comes win with a big muffin top. If he comes in ready to roll then I agree that Daly/Spags can turn his career around. Would be nice to have another penetrating DT. Do we keep 5? Pennel, Nnadi, Saunders, Jones and Speaks? Maybe Speaks versatility can save him a spot, but Kpass ability to do the same doesn’t help his case. Clark, Kpass, Okafor, Taco, Ward and Harris all fighting for what? 5 spots as well. He better come ready or his butt is gonna get cut!
  20. The more I think about it the more excited I am about having CEH. Pairing an elite qb with a stud RB is a real nightmare and then pairng him with Mahomes isn’t even fair. Most of the teams who are good at running are avg at throwing the ball. They will beat teams but when they face a truly elite qb there is no guarantee. Our defense doesn’t need to be top 5 it needs to be competent at stopping the run without loading box. I think our defense will be good to start the season but when Gay, Thornhill and Sneed get up to speed our D could be really scary paired with our O. Also Pennel being around from day one will help.
  21. If the DBs hold up I could see us being top 10 pretty easily. This year we know they scheme/system better and we already saw the three best running teams last year and did pretty good agains them. Also none of those teams outside of the Ravens offer a real threat in the passing game so I think we will be fine. With all that said I think we will be 13-15 range
  22. He got 90 targets last year so 10 more isn't all that difficult to get considering PM was injured quite a bit last year. Even still he will be motivated as this is a contract year.
  23. If we still wanted him I’m sure we could make it work. Heard somewhere that he’s pretty slow (really good but slow) and Andy has typically liked his guards to be somewhat athletic. With Mahomes now maybe there is a shift in that. Either way he would help and 7 mil per ain’t horrible.
  24. Good point Holmes. I could definitely see another vet brought in while Breeland is out.
