Toub has quietly slipped under the radar for that blunder. How many times do teams have to pull out the stops for your to prepare for it on any down and and distance. Teams are desperate against us and whether he believes it or not, returning a punt has little to do with our offensive efficiency. Felt like that play took the wind out of our D's sails that drive.

Kind of a perfect storm for the Chiefs this week. CJ drama, Last minute injury to “The Offensive game plan”, Toney coming back last minute and new players. I believe there was a moment (the Toney pick 6 drive) that I thought we were going to open up a lead and never look back. Compounding errors were too much to overcome. Im very optimistic this morning though. Toney wasn’t hurt and he will get those drops figured out. CJ and Omenihu will be back this year, and our Oline will gel. And maybe most importantly, Kelce will be back soon. Like some others said, if we were going to lose this was the game. Should wake the team up. I would hate to be the Jags next week.

I agree xen and think that is probably Veach's thinking as well. Gay, for being an athletic freak sure isn't able to use that ability as much as you'd like. Obviously CJ makes that unit way way better but I think the D did really good under the circumstances. To the point that I think Veach doesn't budge. Gotta think we might need to find a reliable wr solution if these issues continue. Would be said to have a wr corp that lets Mahomes down as much as they did tonight. We should have won by 20 tonight. Play calling and WR's looked terrible tonight.

I don't know man. We lost to a good team with 2 of our best 3 players out and some miserable mistakes that won't happen every week. Our D could be legit good when CJ and Omenihu comes back. Kelce will make a big difference. I would say you go hunting for a wr via trade. In the heart of Mahomes career I don't think you punt even one season. Get to the playoffs and you always have a chance.

I could actually see Veach making a run at a player like Mike Evans. TB isn't going anywhere and adding a first rounder might get them closer to a QB like Caleb Williams.

Well we lost. I'm sure CJ's agents wanted that, but do any of you think this lost gave them any more leverage? I actually believe it did the opposite. The D held their own and looked solid vs a top offense. Could be way off but I truly believe the leverage is completely in Veach and Co hands right now. And I might want to report before Veach goes out and trades for a veteran WR.

Agree to some degree with the first part but Jones value doesn’t increase because of that game. The D held them to 14 points and looked fine. Our O should have had 30. I bet Veach doesn’t budge. All the leverage is with the front office. CJ loses money and makes it easier with each passing game to stand pat and then tag him next year.

Might be a good thing. Put guys on notice. Would love to give Ross more of a chance on O. Give him a shot the other guys outside of MVS didn’t do jack

Enjoying this game. D shows promise and fire. Oline looks ok for the first game. Play calling and wrs are two concerns so far but Kelce will help that and more game time for the rookies.

Depending how this game goes, do you think CJ and his reps realized they messed up. With how the D has played so far, no way Veach budges now. Watching your leverage and hopes of a ridiculous contract go down the drain all they while paying a cool 1 million to watch it live. 😬
