  1. Gotta be honest. Saw the thread title and thought we might be trying to bring JJ Watt back for a ring chase. Then realized who we were talking about and was disappointed.
  2. Pretty sure we knew he was getting suspended. It's why we got him for such a good deal. I'm glad it was done now instead of waiting after the start of season like they did last year. My guess is they will appeal it and try and get it to 4. That would be better. As far as CJ is concern, I think that deal gets done at some point soon. Makes too much sense on both sides and while CJ has us over a barrel to some degree at least he is an elite player.
  3. Seems pretty optimistic. Chris has a lot of leverage here though. He is owed 28 million this year and the tag next year puts his money in the range we apparently don't want to pay plus it freezes that cap money. He knows making another SB without him is that much harder. He has surprisingly outplayed that previous deal and deserves a pay raise. As a fan I always hope he takes a far deal for both sides but I know if I was in his shoes I would want the most I could get. He has already won 2 SB's and more than likely if he plays well (whether here or elsewhere) a few more years he will be a HOF candidate. At the end of the day if you have to overpay someone (relatively speaking) he is the guy you want to do that with. Hope it gets done soon!
  4. All they have to do is find a way to keep them 7 initially. Toney will be out probably 4 weeks at the start of season, so Ross has 3 preseason games and the first 4 to prove his worth and earn that spot. I do think with Toney gets back they only keep 6. From what I've read Watson hasn't been great at camp so far so who knows. Maybe Reid is talking him up in the hopes they could trade him for a late pick or a player swap.
  5. I would look for Thuney and Creed to be in the 30-40 range, Jones to be 10-20, Kelce top 10 and Mahomes at #1. That is 5 top 40 players but don't know how you can keep both all pro olineman off the list and Jones, Kelce, and Mahomes are all locks. Pretty impressive if it happens like this. Curious how close Bolton and Sneed were to making the top 100.
  6. I like the D showing some fight and aggression and I like Kelce dishing it out as well. I'm trying to not get too excited about this D but I think they might surprise us this year and be more formidable than in years past.
  7. It appears that Mahomes has developed some long ball rapport with MVS which is great. We missed out on a few of those last year because Mahomes couldn't quite connect. Moore seems to be stepping up and looking more confident and Rice seems to be creating a little buzz. Throw in Justyn Ross looking better and making some plays and James building some chemistry with Mahomes and this WR room might not have the ceiling of some groups in the NFL but its a deep group with a lot of upside. Toney's injury stinks but it does give our younger guys a chance to get valuable reps. Moore and Rice are hopefully the future of the position so every extra rep they get is a good thing.
  8. I remember him being very athletic but dang I forgot just how athletic he was. Obviously just being athletic doesn't make you a good player but you have to wonder if the Jets even know how to develop a wr. I guess to be fair maybe those same questions could be said about us as well.
  9. Taking a shot refers to making a claim. The point of the original statement was I would rather have a young uber talented guy that could use a change of scenery and better coaching over an over the hill declining wr. At some point we need to find long term solutions to our premium positions. I 100% he won't make it through waivers but I also wouldn't mind trading a 7th for him either. Seems like a very Veachy sort of move.
  10. I’d rather take a shot at a player like Denzel Mims that the Jets are probably going to cut.
  11. DT or DE depending on how Felix looks. Now if a legit wr came available then maybe but Julio is done and Cook is a volume back in an offense that will never give him that volume nor should they.
  12. Seriously dude, I disagree slightly on this issue and you get cranky. Go drink some metamucil and take a nap. First off who was making 26 million dollars a year 5 to 10 years ago? Two dudes 5 years ago. Jimmy G and Matt Stafford. Top DT was C. Campbell at 17m. Top DE was Houston at 20. If I was saying he should be paid 20 million per year then sure but I am not doubting CJ's ability or the need to pay him handsomely. I am merely pointing out paying him close to AD money is not wise no matter how good he is because anyone outside of a qb making that kind of money handicaps your team to some degree.
  13. 26 plus million dollars for any player outside of a QB is crazy money. Chris deserves to be paid but paying him 28.5 or more isn’t ideal. AD got paid for what he had already done for the most part and that deal is stupid even considering AD is the greatest to ever do it arguably. I want a deal to get done like the rest of us and if we pay him 28-29 per then so be it but that is tip top of the defensive market not just DT market. Deals like that rarely work out the way teams hope they will, but he is our D and you have to reward/pay homegrown guys so if it has to be done CJ should be the guy.
  14. That’s true but Q is also ~4 years younger and Jones would be 34 at the end of a 4 year ext. Jones is by far the better player but Q is ascending while CJ will be descending more than likely on the back side of the extension. AD is incredible but the Rams were stupid to pay that much. As good as he is that contract is crippling. CJ may want a lot more than 26 and we definitely need him but 26 million is 2 million more than Q and makes him the 2nd highest paid like he wanted. You are probably right it will cost more but i hope not. > 26 million for a DT is crazy money.
  15. I was thinking something in the 25-26 million per year with ~70 guaranteed. Gonna be odd him recruiting players knowing his deal will be what fees up the money to sign those players if he is holding out for 30 million per year. A 4/104million deal makes him the 2nd highest paid my 2 million per year. I'm sure Veach has a number but can't imagine that Veach and Co weren't happy about the Williams deal. For once lately it seems that a late signing hasn't screwed over their plans to get a big name signed.
  16. Agree! MVS will never be a #1 but he has real value for our team and he has been healthy. I'm not positive we don't keep 7 wr's this year with Watson and James being the last two guys, but if we keep just 6 then I think we showcase whoever we want to cut in the attempt to trade for a very low pick. My guess would be James in that scenario. Next couple of days should be interesting.
  17. That Williams deal should makes this deal fairly easy on both sides. Hope this gets done quickly!
  18. Bolton is the guy I'm truly curious about. Great player but limited. What is a guy like that going to command on the open market and will we match it? Hard to see Veach giving a MLB 15 million or more a year when he needs to come off the field on obvious passing downs. I agree with the rest of you that Gay is likely gone and Trey Smith is probably gone too in favor of Humphrey.
  19. I have a hunch that the Bills offered more than the Chiefs before he was cut. IIRC he was talking highly of Mahomes at one point then pivoted to Josh Allen. I know a lot of fans talk about these guys wanting a ring and possibly taking less to get one but the reality is they are only really concerned about money. If they can do both so be it but I'd say 98% are gonna chase the cash over a ring. I mean Tyreek Hill traded a chance for a historic legacy and SB's for 2 million more a year and a meh qb. Don't blame him or hate him for it just pointing out that money is the most important thing to these guys and it would probably be the same for us if we were in their shoes.
  20. I agree with you that it is highly unlikely a big move gets made. I think our wr crew is good enough and if we want to make a long run we are going to need 2-3 of those guys to develop and turn into solid #2 and #3's on rookie deals so if needed we can make that splash down the road. I think Kelce can carry the load as the #1 at least for one more year.
  21. For starters this team is good enough to win another SB. Period. However if there is an opportunity to add a top end WR or some DE depth and an upgrade at DT next to Jones then you 100% do it.
  22. Kinda wish some of the rumors would be true if for nothing more than to speed up this part of the offseason.
  23. I don't know. Last year we were supposedly in on AJ Brown. There was smoke about DHop earlier in the year. I think Veach is doing his due diligence, but I also think that a wr of that caliber would instantly be the best wr on the roster outside of Kelce. I don't think the team cares if they have to cut a James, Watson, or Ross if the can find a way to add a legit #1. It is not everyday you have a chance to repeat as SB champs. You may be right though, its a slow point in the year for NFL news.
  24. I do not think Smith is some huge upgrade. He is a mid level LT who had a rough year last year with injuries. That said he also was blocking for a ancient statue. I wonder if part of all those holding over the years were it’s better to get a holding than to get Tom killed? Mahomes has made some crappy tackles look pretty decent. I do think Smith and Taylor are a huge upgrade over Wylie and Brown and this give Morris a year to see if he can be a starter LT in the L. If not we have our swing tackle and we try again next off-season.
