  1. How could you do that though? Huge bonuses? But don’t they get spread out over the course of the remaining years or at the max five years? So that keeps pushing the can down the road. I’m no capologist so I know there are ways to manipulate it but at the end of the day you still gotta pay the player the money he is guaranteed either this year or down the road.
  2. Mahomes has stated publicly that winning rings is more important than tons of money. He has never indicated he is unhappy with his contract. It would be against everything he has said if he wanted to be the highest APY and it would also be significantly more difficult to stack chips. He is the best but the difference between him and the next tier isn't so far that Mahomes on a bad team can beat those guys on a good team. Also he doesn't come off as being a selfish player. That first contract was so big because he stated he wanted to be financial set for his family. That first contract did that and more. His endorsements only add to that giant bag. The only thing I could think of is the NFLPA is putting pressure on Mahomes to seek more to help the rising tide raise all boats. Truth is he is worth being the highest paid and at the end of the day if he is happy and the Chiefs are happy then who am I to complain.
  3. Remember how every pundit thought Isaiah Simmons was the next great defensive player and would transform the L. Like you said all drafts are crapshoots.
  4. Still feel that our tackles are an upgrade with Smith and Taylor over Brown and Wylie.
  5. Seems like they had plans to move up for a tackle and either couldn’t move up far enough or no one would trade with them. Could be insurance in case Taylor struggles on the left side. Would like to see the numbers of this deal.
  6. Gotta think that if KC thought he could do something they wouldn't have drafted two in this draft and then signed a very good udfa player from Harvard! I don't think he will make the roster unless he turns into the second coming of Jared Allen/Justin Houstin.
  7. Absolutely. Just saying they have invested and hit and its paying off. I hope we don't expect Mahomes to make chicken salad out of chicken crap year in and year out because he is capable. Get this man some help and I think we have started to do that with a young group of wr's that hopefully develop into above avg wrs. With a chance to be back to back Super Bowl winners hope we don't fall short because our wr's room just wasn't talented enough. I like who we have as well but as you said they aren't in the Bengals league. The Steelers for a long time drafted WR's as well. I wonder if our complex system makes it hard to find and even develop young guys. Hard to tell though when we haven't made much of an investment in wr before 2022.
  8. I mean they have used pick 5, 33, and 55 on their wr's. Without that 5th overall pick they are a good wr corp but they aren't elite. They do hit generally when they draft them though (again hard to miss on a talent like Chase though). We have spent pick 55, 54, a third round trade and a middling FA in MVS. Gotta spend some draft capital there if you want to have an elite group. Sucked that this years class was not as top talented as previous years. Always seems to be that way for the Chiefs when we have actual draft ammo. I hope Rice pans out if not we may need to re-evaluate how we are scouting wr's. Moore really needs to take a good step this year and even if he does this groups ceiling is based largely on the health of a very brittle wr.
  9. S - Reid, Cook, Edwards, Connor and Bush. 5 DB - Sneed, McDuffie, Watson, Williams, Najeeh/Jones/UDFA 5 LB Bolton, Gay, Chenal, Tranquil, Cochrane - 5 DL - Jones, Nnadi, Coburn, Wharton, Cowert/Shelton/Hoskins/FA 5 DE - Omenihu, Danna, Karlaftis, FAU, Kaindoh/Herring/Thompson 5 I'm sure I'm missing a few but they could keep 5 safeties. That 5th Db spot will be interesting as well as that DL depth and that 5th DE. Wouldn't surprise me to see Thompson IR'd if a vet came available or they roll with 4 DT to keep the 6th with Omenihu and Whartons versatility. Also possible they roll with only 4 LB's with Tranquils versatility as a backup Mike and Will. Camp should be fun on both sides!
  10. Solid draft. Nothing fancy but really solid with the potential to be really good.
  11. I agree it wasn’t a super sexy draft but I was very solid and probably will be another very good draft. The board just didn’t fall like many of us had hoped but I still think Veach navigated it well. Reality is if your team doesn’t develop its players it won’t matter how well they draft. We aren’t perfect in that area but we have some areas we are really good at. Can’t wait to see what else Veach has in store for this off-season.
  12. I am too, mex. I don't think any of the picks are super sexy picks but all are good players with good potential and fill big needs for us. I trust Cullen and Heck to develop FAU and Morris. The jury is still out on our ability to develop wr's, but I believe they can. Still a lot of talented players on the board. Only other major need at this point seems to be DT.
  13. So we need an OT and DT. Nick Saldiveri in the 3rd? Liking this draft.
  14. Always a chance they could trade up in the 2nd for Hyatt. A lot cheaper to do it in the 2nd than the first. Didn't like him as much as you in the first but would love him in the 2nd.
  15. Its great we finally drafted two young talented DE's in back to back years. Seems like a motivated and driven guy which means he isn't a 5 star arrogant entitled player. That generally bodes well plus his 3 cone and broad jump translates well to the NFL. The one nice thing is that 5 year option so while we couldn't trade back we didn't reach and we drafted a position that has high positional value.
  16. He is young and has a lot of traits that generally translate. We needed another young talented DE and we got one. Like the pick. Glad we didn't trade up for any wr.
  17. I noticed that too Jetlord. With Clark announcing the pick there was no way they were trading that pick even though they should have. I've always been a big Clark Hunt defender but is there any truth to the rumors he is being cheap? The conditions of the stadium in the report. Reports the team was under a strict cash cap. Maybe none of that is true. IMO the board went from being very advantageous to being worse case scenario. The one nice thing about getting FAU in the first is we have that 5th year option on a premium position. Still a lot of draft to go and FAU was one of the best options at where we drafted. Lets go Chiefs!
  18. 255 isn't terribly light. Frank was playing around 240 if that this last year because of his intestinal issues.
  19. With many of the teams that need a wr in the draft taking one in the first does this open up the possibility for us to trade for Dhop? The fact we were in on AJ Brown last year after letting Hill walk makes me think the their might be some truth to the rumors. Got our DE in the first now get a DT and OT in the next 2 rounds and then trade a 4th for DHop?
  20. I forgot he was still available. Pumped for the pick! Was worried those OG rumors might come true. Big need and filled it with a talented player!
  21. Kinda of feels like we have to settle here for a player. Anyone else feel that way.
  22. Got a sick feeling that Peter Kings report of us taking O'Cyrus Torrence might happen.
