  1. If your business model counted on the home team to host the AFCCG every year to survive (my understanding of the term devastating in the context of business) then your model sucked. Im not saying your actual model sucked, but rather pointing out that something that is not guaranteed and in reality is not normally a common occurrence shouldn’t be devestating unless the model was gambling or flat out bad. Sounds like you did well and those games were a big bonus. I’m not saying local businesses wouldn’t miss out on a huge influx and that would suck and be frustrating but no business should be counting on a game that is normally not a common or frequent occurrence to survive.
  2. Considering it was never a guarantee, I would hardly consider it devastating. It’s frustrating but overall this worked out well for the Chiefs. There is a very good chance KC will host the AFCCG at Arrowhead because the path the Bills are facing is daunting to say the least. If we win tomorrow the only way we play that game at a neutral site is if it’s vs the Bills.
  3. It was the right call and I'm glad they made it (or were forced to make it). In a perfect world they could have made it up but that doesn't look possible. Fortunately neither team needed a win to make the playoffs so they at least have a chance to play for a Superbowl.
  4. What will the cost be though? He has been making more plays as of late but he is mid tier. Had high hopes for him this year.
  5. Not to ever diminish the scary events that took place last night but it should at least make us appreciate those who are in the line of work that they cannot stop when a tragedy strikes. It was a game and they should have stopped it and I'm glad they did. Life is more important than a game, but those you list don't always have that luxury and I cannot imagine what that must be like.
  6. Agree OT, who wants to continue playing when your teammate/friend potentially died right in front of your face. There is a difference in a blown knee, broken bone, concussion and doing CPR on the field in front of their faces for 9 minutes. These guys probably thought he was dead or were at least terrified he might be. Really is amazing there hasn't been more things like this happen in such a violent game.
  7. Don't love getting that #1 seed (if we do indeed get it) like this though.
  8. Doc that was my worry (hypoxia of the brain). Praying he makes a full recovery!
  9. I don't think there is a fair solution to be had. Unless you play the game tomorrow or Thursday and then let them play mid week the following week, but even then that would make for a short week leading into the playoffs. Pushing back the playoffs probably doesn't work either because of scheduling and the Super Bowl. It is a tragic situation but someone is going to get the short end of the stick. IMO you give them the option. Cancel the game and go with winning percentage or play the game tomorrow night and then let them play on Monday night the next week. At least give them the ability to choose
  10. Agree, we aren't trading Thuney. He is too valuable and he provides a great stop gap at LT in a pinch. To address the OP. Frank is gone. I think the coaching staff would like to have him back but no way they can rationalize that contract. It is time. While many people won't like the idea, I think OBJ is the best options for the Chiefs. In light of needing a good DE, our draft position and a lack of pass rushing options in FA we can't get a starting caliber LT and a day one starting DE in this draft. I think the Chiefs will offer a similar contract that they offered last offseason and I think he will take it this offseason or he will get tagged again. Sneed should get an extension this offseason and I think they will do Gay the following. CJ should get an extension as well. I also think they bring Juju back. I don't think he will break the bank but he won't be cheap. He wants to be here and he compliments this team really well. I think they let Thornhill, Hardman, and Nnadi walk. Saunders and Wharton are two guys they will have to make a decision on as well. Veach has his work cut out though. FA is a down year and what decent players are available don't fit our main needs. Our draft position might make it challenging to fill those holes with day one starters so it will be interesting to see how Veach attacks this offseason. Just glancing at FA the top tier DEF players seem to be S and LB. Have a hard time believing we would resign Sneed, and then dish out another 12-15 for a guy like Bates or CGJ after paying Reid 10 million per, but who knows. DaRon Payne might be a nice addition to pair with Jones on the interior. What do y'all think? Front load our guys contracts and try again in 2024 or go fishing in a small pond?
  11. I pray they were able to get his heart restarted before further damage was done. Praying he recovers. What a somber moment and glad the game was postponed.
  12. Wasn't able to watch. Saw it was postponed and thought that was wierd for a weather postponement this time of the year. Then went and watched the play wow what scary moment. Hope the kid is all right. 9 minutes for CPR doesn't sound great though.
  13. He is really starting to put it all together just in time for the playoffs!
  14. Crazy to think what he would have had with Reek and Juju together......I'm not against the trade or anything as I think it makes us better down the road but what a year it would have been.
  15. Patrick Mahomes - 5048 yards, 67% comp., 44 total TD's (40 passing, 4 rushing), 12 ints, 0 fumbles lost, 321 rushing yards, & 315 yards per game. Dude is the hands down MVP and its not even close.
  16. It has been an odd year. I do think robgar made a good point though. We are getting the best out of these teams because some of these teams we have beaten so many times this is their SB. Mix that with a team that obviously gets bored and still mixing in new players in the mix and its a recipe for some let downs. Thankfully the let downs are just ugly wins.
  17. Those stats are deceiving. We blitz a lot which means we leave our secondary vulnerable on the back end. We are also 20th vs the pass. We don't generate consistent 4 man pressure or sacks frequently enough to protect the back end.
  18. I'm excited we have that shot year in and year out. Mahomes has gotten us to the SB or AFC chip game every year but his first. I have faith they can do it again!
  19. We can beat any team in the NFL. The Bills were playing way better when they beat us by what 4 points than they are now. We had the Cincy game in hand and fumbled it away. Sure we could get bounced but so could any team. These mistakes we make week in and week out are frustrating and make these games a lot closer than they should be but this team is capable of dominating a game. This team is capable of winning the SB.
  20. Today you could tell Mahomes looked off in the 2nd half. Not quite as bad as the Cincy game last year but nearly that bad for a couple series and you would think Andy would see that and call some simple plays to break him out of that funk or ........run the ball! Instead we lost like 3 series in a row because something was off. I love Andy but there is some truth to this. That 2nd half of the Cincy game was the brutal mixture of Mahomes being way off and our HC being oblivious to what was happening and failing to exploit that D. What really concerns me is 1 year later and we still don't have a sure fire way to exploit that style of D (or worse we refuse to exploit it with the run). I say all that and realize we are 13-3 in large part because of Andy Reid so until there is a sure fire better option I am happy with Reid and will live with his short comings. Mahomes and Reid have shown they can get the job done something none of the other competition in the AFC has proven.
  21. If nothing else that last series to milk clock and put it away started with a good run and then ended with two bad passes. Very frustrating!
  22. True but the "wait till next year" is never a guarantee. I'm sure many GB fans thought the same during the early years of Rodgers. I do believe we will be way better next year but we have a chance this year and we have the team that has the ability to do it. I do agree the bye is by far the more important part of the #1 seed. Don't we play better on the road?
  23. The announcers at the beginning of the game...."The Chiefs have one of the most balanced O's in the L a really nice running game...." Andy....hold my beer.....
  24. Was thinking the same moon. What are dlineman suppose to do. They have to be cognizant of the penalty but by being gentle it gives the qb an opportunity to make a play and advance the ball. It needs to be blown dead when it is clear the defender has the qb wrapped up. I know that prohibits some qbs from making spectacular plays but if safety is the goal then that has to be part of the compromise. Glad nothing was called and it resulted in a incompletion.
  25. I beg to differ. Dude got called for two ticky tack bailed out calls on that one drive. The progression he is making is pretty remarkable considering where he came from. I think he is going to be better than Ward.
