  1. How much of this is Mahomes telling the coaches he can figure it out though. Keeping guys in to chip and adding extra help limits the players down field in position to make plays or at least hinders the ability to do so quickly. Maybe Mahomes is convincing them he can make that chicken salad to give himself more targets. Obviously I don't know this and this might be the farthest from the truth but Mahomes is a competitor and I can see him say the heck with this safe crap, give me guys down field.
  2. I would normally say trust he coaches but after Nieman and Sorensen I'm not so sure.
  3. We pass 39.3 attempts per game or 4th most. Team 20 passes 33.3. Team 10 passes 35.8. Couldn't find the list of most pressured so not sure how that correlates though.
  4. Problem is there is no one in FA that moves the needle and can offset that loss. It is a terrible year for FA. Some bad players are going to get overpaid. Only way that works is by trading him for a guy like Nick Bosa or Myles Garrett and even then we are going to have to poney up a first and then 25 million a year. Or you extend CJ and keep adding players through the draft. Neither are sure bets.
  5. Especially when you consider our qb us in consideration for MVP and we traded Hill. I thought about this last night. What would it be like to have an Oline that Mahomes could sit back there and diagnose a play without having to run around all day. I know he is great at that but when he has had the few chances to do that this year dang we tear up a D.
  6. Burrows is great but its annoying comparing qbs like its a 1v1 boxing match. Burrows had all day to sit back and throw to 3 stud wrs. He did what he was suppose to do and they won. Mahomes was constantly pressured and I would take those 3 Cincy wr's over Kelce, Juju, and MVS/whoever else in a New York Minute. Bottom line, this team can't make mistakes vs good teams if they expect to win. This is a soft rebuild roster and our margin for error is less than if we went all in. We will get some of that stuff cleaned up and be fine but you are right. 0-3 sucks.
  7. Any other position and I would agree. DT and DB are the two positions that you can scheme out a dominant player pretty easily. Other guys have to step up but thats the rub. We draft/sign big slow DE's and expect them to bend around the edge and none of our guys can. We do not have a speed rusher on this roster and yet that is how you have to win in todays NFL unless you are a super freak like Myles Garrett or the Bosas. What makes it worse is they aren't even good vs the run which is why Spags likes them bigger and stronger.
  8. I started this post last night but thought I would wait and let the frustration wear off before I posted it. Spags doesn't miss tackles and getting mad at him for not teaching tackling is ridiculous (This is the NFL every player should know better). However, this is year 4 and while we have more talent this year it feels like our D is the same as the previous 4 years he has been the DC. We can't stop anyone when we need to. Our D is soft and can't tackle. We draft/sign big slow DE's that fit Spags scheme and criteria because he wants his DE's to be good vs the run but ours aren't that great vs the run and have no bend or pass rush ability to win 1v1. Last night Chris Jones got doubled and tripled and nobody did anything. I know a previous poster mentioned trading Chris Jones and maybe get a 2nd. Chris Jones is a top 2 DT in the NFL with no help....none. Trading him makes our team worse. There isn't a player outside of an elite DE that would make that trade a net positive for our team. No one is trading us a Nick Bosa for Chris Jones. You have to pay players on your team and he is elite. Pay him and maybe just maybe go out and get a pair of pass rushers to pair with him. Aaron Donald gets so much praise, rightfully so, but this is the first year in a long time he doesn't have elite players around him and his numbers look eerily similar to CJ95 who has spend his entire year minus one or two with hot garbage around him. I don't blame Veach for not overpaying for older edges but it looks like that approach might end up costing us a chip. Again not to upset because Frank Clark was such a horrible contract so I would be gun shy too and I generally feel the plan was a soft rebuild to get younger, faster and cheaper. A DE that can win 1v1 frequently is a must. We addressed secondary this offseason and got some young studs, but it won't matter if we keep drafting slow hulking DE's in an NFL that is all about quick passing. As bad as our tackles have been our offense is still putting up 30 a game with a group 2/3's at wrs and Kelce. Finding an upgrade at RT won't be hard and even if we stuck with OBJ at a reasonable price (He is playing slightly above avg lately minus last night. The O will keep chugging along. Keep drafting wrs in the middle rounds. This offseason has one prioity. Veach needs to find a pair of stud DE's to pair with Karlaftis (Who looks like another stiff, slow, high motor DE who will get you coverage sacks but rarely outright beats his man). DE is the most important position of need on this team and it isn't close. Then RT, LT, WR, and then S in that order. Finally, our safeties might be worse than last year. The early reports on the Reid signing are bad. Thornhill running his mouth about being an all pro are laughable and Reid (Who is a very intelligent dude) running his mouth before this game and then both players to be absolutely irrelevent is pathetic. Thornhill should be benched. Missed mulitple 3rd down tackles that could have ended drives. Not sure if there is a vet safety waiting in FA but I would kick the tires. We have endured poor defensive play for so long now that we all get excited when we see slightly below avg d and we talk ourselves into believing its above avg and even good. We have no killer instinct and rely on a juggernaut offense to put teams in a one dimensional mode to help. Now I say all that to say the O had two opportunities to win this game outright and choked. Kelce's fumble and that last offensive possession. Yes the D is a soft wet paper bag but the O should have won that game for us. So it was an ugly loss to a very good team by a whopping 3 points. Some of these things can get fixed and some cannot during the season. Thankfully we were in a position to win even with those mistakes and soft play. Hopefully enough can get fixed to win next time.
  9. You are right. Had we run the table we might be due for a let down in the playoffs. This should refocus our attention on the holes that were exposed. Sometimes a loss like that could end up being good for the team. We did only lose by 3 and had two opportunities to win it.
  10. He is a very good qb but there is no way I'm taking him over Mahomes. Mahomes in Cincy is the SB favorite and its not close. Burrows here isn't doing what Mahomes has done and is doing. Higgins would be our #1 wr. Burrows is really really good but he needs time and protection. Its not a knock on Burrows as I would be happy to have him if we didn't have Mahomes but its a bad take.
  11. Well Cincy was playing to limit possessions and we gifted them a possession on that idiotic fumble in which we were leading and moving the ball well. In close games vs good teams the team that limits costly errors usually wins. Self inflicted crap all night long.
  12. I think passing the ball on that first down was a bigger mistake. We were gashing them with the run and simultaneously trying to milk the clock down and it was working but we just can't keep doing whats working. We ran that stupid cut play which makes no sense by sending Mahomes out to wr which literally makes it 100 times easier to stop us and almost stalled a drive. That pass play our tackles sucked and Mahomes had to throw it away that stopped the clock and burned a down. 2nd down we gained like what 6 yards and then on third down he got sacked because again the tackles sucked. We could have probably ran it 3 times and gotten the first down or gotten close enough to go for it. Agreed, can't blame much of anything on Butker there.
  13. Sad thing is OBJ was just as bad if not worse today. It truly is sad if this teams loses another year and opportunity for Mahomes because our tackles can't get their crap together. With all that said, Kelce's fumble was the catastrophic straw that broke the camels back.
  14. I'm gonna say Kelce's fumble played a larger part. We had momentum and were on our way to scoring again and probably put this game away. Then the O not being able to score on that last possession being another issue. Sure the D sucks in stretches but they got a high powered opponent in a position to be beat early in the 4th and the O just dropped the ball on back to back possessions. For a team we wanted to show up we played them like we played the Raiders.
  15. We are winning this division going away so that means we won't be a wildcard. Not sure were you have been but winning against LA Chargers almost assured that. Every other team has to win out as well even if we lose two more which is highly unlikely. We have a better shot at getting the #1 seed than being a wildcard.
  16. Sorry they did, my bad, but we are still two games up on them.
  17. Totally agree moon, but what do we expect when we draft and sign these big slow DEs. We don't have one DE that has legit bend. Spags loves those slow dudes which would be fine if our run D was stiffer but when we suck at both phases then its a serious problem and without selling the farm this offseason we will be seeing this same crap next year because we doubled down on Spags style of D last offseason.
  18. We had that game in our grasp and botched it. It happens. We will win out more than likely and probably still get the bye. I doubt the Bills are winning out as poorly as they are playing. Miami lost and the Ravens did too so we are two up on everyone else except Buffalo. Frustrating loss but I'm not worried.
  19. He is a raw rookie. Not his fault our safeties suck and Spags is clueless about giving help. Our safeties are worse than our dline and that is saying something.
  20. Thornhill with another whiff on the biggest play of the game. Go figure. This D is what it has been during the Spags tenure. Posers. If our O doesn't build a lead and give them a lead they aren't very good. We have a few good pieces but when you are on year 4/5 of Spags and you still can't generate pressure because you draft and sign big slow run stuffing D ends who ironically enough can't stop the run.....this is what you get.
  21. This team is so freaking frustrating. We are undisciplined and can't stick with what works. Run the dang ball!
  22. Had we ran on first down there this wouldn't have been an issue. We are just dumb.
  23. I know Williams gets picked on a lot but dude is in position so many times. Love it.
