  1. I think that is a BB style plan. When your team is a dominant passing team to find a way to be potent running the ball as well as passing. That plan would create matchup nightmares are every position. Dominant players would be getting one v one matchups every play and if teams wanted to do what the Bengals would do then a coach like BB would run it down their throat. It's my only knock on Andy. His refusal to deviate at times has cost him at least 1 Lombardi maybe 2.
  2. Also, we got pinched on this EB deal. It would be horrible optics if we didn't bring EB back or offer him the job back. No way around it. You can't say he deserves to be a HC blah blah blah and then let the guy walk to bring back the white dude who couldn't hack it in Chicago (even though thats not entirely a fair assessment, because Chicago is a dumpster fire). Not saying Andy didn't really want EB back but wanted him to have the freedom to choose. Andy is a good dude like that, but if by chance he didn't then the PR hit would have been bad.
  3. Not saying Nagy doesn't deserve some of it, but he got saddled with Mitch Trubisky when he got there and then got saddled with a raw and unprepared qb in Fields that he was in a lose lose situation with. He was darned if he did and darned if he didn't. I often wonder if coaches in their desire to be HC won't take on impossible situations or believe they are capable of turning the impossible into the possible and just perpetuate a cycle of poorly run organizations. A good coach can be made to appear like a poor coach when the organization is dsyfunctional. Gotta have power to change the culture and often times these young coaches want the title without realizing that without the power they can't succeed. If, and its a big if, EB realized this he wouldn't be willing to make concessions to get that title. Meaning he wouldn't get jobs because he knew that he couldn't succeed in an organization without the power to clean house. Always hard to tell which is which but organziations that are constantly hiring and firing and hiring HC's are dysfunctional. Chicago will be dysfunctional far longer than their memory of Matt Nagy's short tenure there.
  4. Yeah there were way to many games that caused my blood pressure to rise! Just throwing out different ideas
  5. Alternative offseason game plan. Signing Gronk would be fun in big packages. Sign Allen Robinson Alternative offseason. Sign Gronk Sign Devonta Freeman Resign Jerrick Mckinnon Go 12 personnel with Kelce, Gronk, McKinnon, Hill, and Robinson. Who is stopping that personnel?
  6. I think the delay was waiting to see what position he would fill. If EB left he would be the OC, since he stayed they moved him to QB coach. I have no issues with it.
  7. Ogbah was a great one year signing that helped us in the comp formula. In hide sight that 2/15million was a bargain and I'm sure Veach wished he would have taked him on that deal. Jarran Reed started slow before being decent at the end. Alex Okafor. Bashaud Breeland I think was orginally a one year deal that worked out pretty well for the Chiefs. None of those guys outside of Ogbah and Breeland were very good but they help filled a spot. Suggs, Wis, and Ingram also technically one year guys that helped. I don't mind the one year deals but if they prohibit younger players from seeing the field then that can be a problem. Always tricky when you are SB contenders to find the balance in developing young players while putting the best 11 on the field.
  8. Nagy was always the backup for if EB left for somewhere else. I for one am fine with this. Gives us one more year for EB to get a HC job and we get those picks.
  9. I'm ok with it either way. EB getting a HC job only helps us with picks and since it won't be this year it could net us two future 3rd round picks. That is good business for a guy who isn't the brains behind the offense. If he bounces, my guess is Nagy is there to take up the position. If EB comes back Nagy takes the QB coach job. Lets not pretend like our offense sucked last year. We had a down year and still were an elite offense. Sure play calling was questionable in the AFCCG but Mahomes missed some plays he normally makes. Biggest issue isn't creativity its committing to run the ball when teams run a 3 man front and put 8 in coverage. Not sure how any OC is going to change that if Reid is willing to die on that hill.
  10. Moving Sneed to S which is a real possibility creates a hole at CB. Either way we need to find and invest in the secondary in the draft and FA.
  11. There is an exception that you can cut a player pre June 1st as if it was a post June 1st cut. I guess it depends how aggressive Veach wants to be this offseason because that pushes the dead cap until next year (~6m). I'm not so sure they won't try and find a way to rework his deal. Pay him around 14-15 million which is only a 3 million more than his dead cap hit. It keeps a veteran DE on the team for a relatively speaking bargain. Ingram isn't going to sign anytime soon and with cutting Clark it forces Veach to find a DE before the draft. I'm ready for all new changes but if we are forces to pay $12 million in dead cap money Frank is a 1st and 2nd down run DE.
  12. I think Fortson was primed to be that guy. I think Mahomes trusted him and the FO liked his growth. We will see how fast he can come back from injury. Gray is another one that never reached the hype of the offseason. I agree, TE is at the bottom of the totem this offseason.
  13. I think his play has slipped a little but he is still a good player. Problem is when an offense can gameplan around you and you cannot make enough impact plays to warrant your 15-20 million dollar a year contract then its hard to extend/resign that player for big money. I think spending his money on a Randy Gregory or stud DE offers more bang for the buck. HB is the luxury this year that we unfortunately cannot afford, plus he probably nets us a potential comp 3rd pick next year.
  14. I think we see Kelce start to show some signs of wear and tear this year. We definitely need to grab a legit #2 wr to start reducing Kelce's role in the regular season and to extend his career. I think we should draft another one as well. Other than that Defense needs to be the focus.
  15. I respect that he was a respected veteran than mentored some younger players snd knew Spags system. However, it was a horrible contract from the get go and us restructuring it made it worse in the end. Glad it’s over and thankfully the FO saw what was glaringly clear. I think moving on from HB (even though HB can still play well) needs ro happen if we are going to keep this window open for the foreseeable future. Plus it allowed Hitchens a chance to catch on elsewhere which is classy.
  16. I heard that this draft is loaded with safeties. Crazy how reporte differ so drastically. Ingram is gonna be tough because he won’t sign early in to avoid OTAs and off-season work outs which keeps us from having some security before the draft.
  17. Can’t wait that long to address DE. Someone is gonna be signed before the draft. Veach has never backed himself in a corner like that before. Would love Gregory. Von would be awesome. Chandler is getting a little long in the tooth and didn’t his play drop off a little at the end of the year. I could be way wrong though about Jones.
  18. So I haven't read any of responses other than a couple following my original post. The more I've thought about it the more it doesn't make sense. There might be parts that are true but in my desire to finding the smoking gun this makes every things look like EB's fault. I don't believe that. It's never just one guys fault. Hill and Kelce and Mahomes have come out numerous times vouching for the guy. JC wanted him fired years ago but Reid loves EB. So while I think there might be some things that are true I don't buy into the whole narrative that EB was a cancer. Shoot, he allowed Mahomes to run Wasp during our SB winning game. It might be best for him to move on but the PR hit is gonna look bad if EB doesn't want to leave. I think this meeting with Reid is about finding out what EB wants and doing their best to accommodate that.
  19. Just posted an article that mentioned players having a beef with him similar to EB. Not sure the details or what happened.
  20. Not sure how valid it is but it does make some good points. I can’t make games so maybe some of you could validate those points addressed. It makes some sense and I would love for this to be factual but who really knows. https://ckedboard.medium.com/how-a-season-long-rift-between-patrick-mahomes-and-eric-bieniemy-ruined-the-afc-championship-35481f116513
  21. Players voted. Bolton did lead the team in tackles and tackles for loss as a rotational LB. We killed that draft like others have stated that 3 guys were in the running for that award and all three have a legitimate case. That is an awesome problem to have. I actually hope we have it again for the next 2-3 years.
  22. Ouch! Seemed like one of the few coaches on our staff that could develop young players.
  23. Veach resigns Ingram. Drafts a DE or a guy like Wyatt out of Georgia. Signs Von Miller? Seems risky with their age but if healthy that’s a scary front 4.
