I'm getting Rivers vibes from Herbert. Super talented. Super scary. But finds ways to lose close games. He's still young obviously, but Mahomes was finding ways to win early on.

They kicked a field goal and then later we held them on 4th and 9 to force overtime, but a pass interference on Baker. We had almost 100 more yards of offense. 5 minutes more TOP. 12 more first downs. We had 190 yards of rushing. We dominated the game except for 4 turnovers to none. And subsequently points obviously.

Mahomes has never finished outside the top 5 in sack percentage and has spent a career playing against Von Miller, Chubb, Crosby, Bosa, Ingram etc. He is mobile and smart and wears defenses out. You can't blitz him and he's a threat to run. He averages 33 yards a game rushing against the Chargers in his career in part because of that. In 7 games against the Chargers he has been sacked 8 times. I'd be much more worried if we had Alex Smith back there, but Mahomes has showed over and over that he's outstanding against pressure. He's elusive and creative outside the pocket. He's possibly the best we have had at presnap reads and he seems to have a shitload of targets. Absolutely the Chargers are really good and absolutely they could win, but these games we have thrived on for a long time.

I used to not hate the Chargers. Then Shawne Merriman and Phillip Rivers came along. I will never forgive the Priest Holmes injury.

Thursday night games are brutal for the visiting team. Mahomes is brutal in September. Chiefs 13-2 in the last 15 against the Chargers not counting the game we rested our starters. Chargers coach has 10 career wins which is a bad year for Andy. But any given Thursday as they say. Chiefs 32-17.
