I wonder if there has ever been a situation where a team drafted a player in the 5th round, got 6 seasons out of them and then traded him for a 1, 2, 4, 4 and 6 or anything similar.
No. But I'm saying if they have equal value, it should be a trade that would be considered. There's nobody with number 1 overall that would consider trading it for those picks.
Chargers and Broncos have added some talent for sure. And the Chargers and Broncos have question marks at the head coach position also. And that's big. Seems like every year the Browns have added some big name player that is gonna make them great. And the Redskins. And Cowboys. And the Rams (although it finally worked for them). I'd much rather have continuity and excellence at the QB and Head Coach than a better defensive end.
You can take anyone in the NFL and instantly him (or her) a Chief. I don't care about the money so don't give me some salary cap bullshit. Just what player would you add to this roster if you could.
I'm going with T J Watt. I would say Aaron Donald, but I just can't.
The playoffs have proved that everyone is beatable. Especially Wilson, Carr and Herbert who have won a combined 1 playoff game since 2018 when Patrick became a starter. If you are keeping track, and I know you aren't) Patrick is 8-3 in that time period.
I'm not questioning 1 year deals. In the original post I asked how many troubled people have we brought in that we did prove it deals for that we had a successful long term thing with. Troubled could mean injury. Or it could mean the other troubled.
1. I didn't say they aren't a real thing. I said if Damien is the best example then they are not a thing.
2. Give me an example of a 1 year guy that we got a comp pick for. That would also be interesting and helpful.
I actually thought about Damien. But he only played 1 more year and only started 6 games that 2nd year. If he's the best there is, then I'd say the 1 year prove it thing is not a real thing.
I don't remember who we were discussing, but in another thread a troubled player was being discussed. It was being discussed to bring him in on a 1 year "prove it" deal.
I am sure that it has worked out for us, but I'm not sure how to find the information. What are some examples of guys we brought in that had some major question marks that we did a 1 year contract on and then had a successful subsequent contract? I'm just trying to decide if that's a thing or not. And I acknowledge that it might be.
