  1. The problem with elite WRs is that they take up too much of the cap space but are still a single player on the field. Paying Hil the money he's making right now would cripple the team and he would never be able to live up to that contract as the numbers game is much more favorable with a QB like Mahomes. Obviously he would want to be paid as he got in Miami over here but that's not realistic so I'm guessing he can buy a few new toys to deal with the sadness.
  2. I love the emphasis on the rebuilding year. So many rookies starting and rotating with a whole bunch of 2nd year guys playing solid football. Once the OL is on track Chiefs will have a much easier time of managing the cap and draft with a long-term plan. I can't imagine the NFL trying to stop Mahomes with a much more established team around him. I don't think there will every be a year we won't be a contender with a healthy Mahomes.
  3. Tough for any RB but McKinnon showed that he's a team player and GMs generally take note of that.
  4. And Chiefs have been screwing him with a 1st round bye for years, would have broken the record by now.
  5. As long as it motivates Pat even more I like the 2 that screwed him.
  6. MVS and Toney have decent speed and Juju isn't bad either. If the OL holds up I think there's going to be some separation to take advantage of. Kelce will command double teams all game long and that's going to hamper the defense.
  7. I doubt Hardman could find a deal higher than 1.5-2 million per year. Vet minimum might be the most likely scenario for a year.
  8. Curious about his future. Didn't work out here but may be a couple good plays in the playoffs could intrigue some GMs to bet on potential. Now I guess he'll look for some prove-it deals but won't be easy. Needs to come back 100% for next year wherever he ends up. CEH is a matter of depth I guess, probably won't need him at all with Pacheco and McKinnon running the show but I guess they see him as McKinnon's backup out of the backfield at this point.
  9. Never really looked at it from the coaching perspective but Reid has always been a players' coach so I wouldn't be surprised if he values his staff's progression than his own reputation.
  10. The one area this regime has been very successful with is the secondary. Both the scouting and the coaching seem to be there. A lot fewer misses than solid hits.
  11. With Sean Payton in the division I'm guessing Veach would focus more on protecting Mahomes from dirty hits to avoid injuries. On the WR side I think Juju is the type of #1-ish WR that would help Mahomes. As we have seen this year the focus will likely be high number of weapons to distract the defenses.
  12. This may be the key. He can already make good money on TV but instead choosing to work harder for may be a bit higher. I think his focus is to add to his legacy while getting paid. Definitely not the ideal landing spot but for that money his ego probably gives him a boost about that offense's capabilities.
  13. Not a bad guy to have on the camp roster and I would imagine he sticks around fora while but obviously Bengals had other motivations as well. Too bad the contingency plan turned out to do much better
  14. They won the NFC so I'm guessing they must have done some things right and must be a decent force on both sides of the ball already. The big difference is that with Mahomes we will win against any team as long as we keep doing the right things. One thing I heard about their DL is that they do a good job of identifying the opposing OL weaknesses and scheme towards that instead of "let's do our thing". Reid will have to be creative to make sure guys like Wylie don't end up being too much of a liability.
  15. I wouldn't keep him around. Right now he's playing for the next paycheck but I don't trust him to honor the big new contract he'll want.
  16. I would give credit to the secondary coaches as well, they have been getting some solid production out of low ranking prospects.
  17. We save about 21 million cutting Clark and paying Jones will save just as much since his cap hit is 28 million next year. There'll be enough money to go around and I'm not even putting Mahomes into the equation. If they tag OBJ that's the only cap we need to allocate and the rest will likely be backloaded deals with not much of an impact in 2023.
  18. I don't expect anything on Sneed until next week as he'll likely be kept out of everything for now. Hopefully he'll not have any issues with the concussion and clear the protocol but the news of that will come a bit later. Surprised there's nothing on Juju so far.
  19. Smith and Brown are no easy walks in the park but after last week's bunch I think our secondary should be a lot more comfortable handling Philly. I would imagine a bit more of a crowd in the box with Gay keeping a close eye on Hurts assuming he's healthy. Definitely need to get ahead and make them beat us in the air to eliminate both Hurts and the RBs.
  20. We have a small group here that watch the game together. A few years ago it turned into somewhat of a rule "if your team is playing, you are hosting". I'll be the proud host for the 3rd time in 4 years and more than happy to continue doing so There's a KC style BBQ place that will be providing the primary "entertainment" and I'll yet again be lazy enough to just go pick it up.
  21. I prefer refs that don't throw the flag so easily as they tend to screw both teams almost equally. However when they are so flag-happy it turns into "why not this one" quite easily. Let them play and both teams will be happier for it.
  22. Rodney Hudson is the best one to consider IMO. He was the best OC in the NFL and got paid accordingly. Would love to have kept him for a team-friendly amount at the right time but it wasn't possible. I think Creed should be the same, can't overpay but definitely worth keeping at a top OC money. We will likely have to replace Thuney around the same time and Smith will need to be paid as well so we might be in for a major shuffle at the line. Hopefully we find two solid OTs that will be established starters by then.
  23. https://sports.yahoo.com/patrick-mahomes-chiefs-wouldnt-be-in-another-super-bowl-without-an-incredible-success-rate-in-the-nfl-draft-031327559.html Stating the obvious
  24. And Raiders will own us on their way to the SB.
