  1. If I understand correctly Smith is around average (or slightly above) in EPAs but below average in the depth of plays if we ignore the QBs that don't matter. Still I would imagine him being much lower but could be due to the frustration back in his KC days. Also interestingly Smith is basically identical with Cousins, which shows how much NFL teams are willing to pay for consistency at the bare minimum decency.
  2. I thought we just restructured to give him guarantees over next 2 seasons instead of a real extension. This blows
  3. This is a contract year for LDT and he'll be a free agent at 30. Unless he's going to retire to become a full time doctor then I think his play will improve but considering that he already earned a decent sum I think he'll opt to retire and become a doctor before risking any more injuries. Still a long career in front of him as a MD.
  4. Normally I would expect Niang to start somewhere due to being an early pick but this regime prefers to take their time with rookies quite often so I wouldn't be surprised if we start with the last year's leftovers and then ease Niang to the roster. It all depends on how much of an offseason we'll have though. There seems to be a positive vibe in a lot of places so who knows.
  5. OC can cause many more problems than the OG so that's the #1 worry for me right now.
  6. I think Hitchens explicitly mentioned the need to stop the run to be a top 5 defense which is absolutely correct. DL is great and DBs are getting better but we can't have the teams run all over us as they did in the past. I'm expecting some major improvement this year but not sure if we'll get to top 5 as soon as 2020 as we have a lot of youngsters who aren't doing OTAs.
  7. Yep, any NFL QB (may be not Trubisky) could make those throws if he can just keep calm. Just a 20-yard throw and we are through. Watching the Last Dance now and Mahomes reminds me of MJ's determination to win. Very cool under pressure and shows the will to win as we have seen against the 49ers. That tenacity sure trickles down to the rest of the team.
  8. The one thing a track star doesn't need is an Alex Smith caliber QB. Hill against the Steelers was too tough to watch.
  9. Would be great if they actually gave some context to the rumors. Are they contemplating a shorter season leading to drop in TV money or do the fans spend too much money in the stadiums, etc? Regardless, I just don't see the owners letting a season of low income mess up the cap structure. They will probably absorb the loss to be compensated by other means.
  10. I don't know if any teams gets 2 in a season, may be the Thanksgiving teams but other than that we should be fine in 2020. Season opener is definitely the only Thursday night game worth playing.
  11. He made some money with his rookie contract, I doubt he would go for a multi-year cheap deal at 24. Doesn't hurt to give a try though, might be the best CB available in terms of physical attributes but not really worth getting the hopes up that's for sure.
  12. In our case that will be a huge advantage since players will be acclimatized to the brutal weather and may be teams remember the good old fashioned rough football at the trenches.
  13. Have to do it a year in advance otherwise the option is lost. Not that Mahomes would hit FA but that's what would happen after year 4 in case of no tags.
  14. Defensive side is no brainer. Any CB/DB or LB available at any time will be on the Chiefs radar. On offense Saints will definitely release someone but Alex Mack is probably the most interesting guy. Still a great OC that made a lot of money playing for losers but at 34 a ring will probably be his priority. I think Chiefs have a huge leverage if he somehow becomes available.
  15. Teams have to submit their decision to the NFL at the beginning of May. So NFL or NFLPA probably announces all the 5th year options at the deadline.
  16. If he gets his head right he'll be a decent rotational piece similar to Ogbah. If not, I doubt we gave him a big contract.
  17. I doubt the schedule comes out within a week. They definitely can't schedule the abroad games and not even sure if they can make traveling arrangements. I wouldn't even be surprised if they simply postpone the season by a month or so.
  18. If the 4-game suspension allegations are true does this mean he's out for the year if charges go as expected? We could be really screwed. Too bad he wasn't arrested just a week ago.
  19. Supposed to be a great locker room guy that gets respect from others. I wouldn't mind him staying in the organization if no other team is wiling to pay him for a year or two.
  20. And happens to be the one area we are extremely thin.
  21. Has anyone ever get away with resisting arrest? Doesn't seem like anything too serious but we'll see how the Chiefs react based on the sentencing probably.
  22. He helped our defense with field positions more than the offense did for quite a while and it includes the Smith-era up to an extent. Says more about our offense than anything else but he was the one non-defensive player that actually did his job well consistently. Also glad he's leaving with a ring, wondering if last year would have been better but they probably wanted him to sitck around for one final push.
  23. DBs doesn't seem to have problems catching up to him in the open field but they sure will have trouble bringing him down. Seems to stay upright quite often. Still I'm not sure if open-field speed is actually relevant. Moving the chains consistently is much more valuable than scoring 2-3 long TDs a season.
