  1. Let's just hope they didn't build that much chemistry
  2. Probably overlooked but a QB definitely has a say in such situations. If Mahomes wants Robinson for what appears to be a minimal cap hit the signing is basically guaranteed.
  3. The worst case scenario is that we have a WR that knows the system which means one less thing to worry about in FA/draft without creating a cap burden.
  4. It's probably a matter of needing that cap space immediately. I don't expect Veach to pull the trigger unless he has some other deals in place that requires the money saved from Watkins' release. I believe the same is true for Colquitt as well, I doubt the plan is to keep him for 2020 but there's no urgency to pull the trigger yet. As things currently stand even if they want to let Watkins go waiting on a trade partner makes more sense. In the end I think the plan is letting Watkins go to clear up some space instead of a bunch of other guys that has less impact.
  5. Obviously it's not set in stone but seems more and more likely every day. Need to make a lot of moves and no cap space to do it. Adding another WR to the top 51 makes Watkins a more reasonable cap move than letting Jones leave.
  6. Is the NFL trying to replicate NBA with these cap exemptions?
  7. Robinson staying basically means Watkins leaving and a rookie WR coming into the mix via draft to be ready for 2021. Keep most of the pieces together so we can focus on defense and OL in the draft.
  8. I guess it'll take longer than usual to sign FAs with the physicals and such not as trivial as before.
  9. With so little cap space in FA we sure will get some picks next year but with all the QBs moving around we might not get as high as we normally would. Also surprised with the lack of money for Breeland but he might be sitting out to see the highest bidder. According to @xen's post I think there'll be less picks to go around in the future with the 35% rule so it might be a fairer playground for most.
  10. He's not listed on team's roster but I'm notsure if they actually update it often enough in the offseason. Nevertheless if they think he has some shot he must have been signed by now.
  11. 2-year deal for Harris is a good move for the Chargers as they didn't really over-commit. He's a shutdown guy who'll be productive for at least this year and next might be useful as well.
  12. Some players provide an invaluable leadership and the added cost is easily justified in those situations. The cap difference for Sherman is probably very minimal as only top 51 will matter in the end but getting people fired up is a big asset. I love Pennel signing, looks like he didn't find what he wanted in FA and wants a full season here before pushing for a big payday. I'm fine with that as the youngsters at DT should only progress over the next year. Regarding Ta'amu he's likely a 3rd QB or a PS candidate but definitely an exciting guy to have around as Reid loves adding QBs.
  13. After last two seasons double digits don't look realistic for Watkins. The best he can hope for is likely 8-9 per year which would be too rich for most teams as this is supposedly a deep draft class. Battling with injuries and averaging about 50 yards per game doesn't really put a WR in an attractive situation. May be someone takes a chance on him like Veach did but not for that high.
  14. He can already be encouraged to retire but Veach might be waiting on something. May be a bonus, etc that kicks in at some point during the offseason. We save 2 million from Colquitt's departure which is likely our rookie pool but overall Veach seems very idle with little cap space available. May be he's waiting on something specific to actually start the offseason.
  15. Forgot all about Gano. Still they probably had a few things in mind to spend a pick on a kicker.
  16. They find a replacement via draft/FA/Fox and let him leave sometime in the summer IMO. There's a very good chance that he retires unless someone wants to make him a lot richer. Regarding Butker, still cannot understand the Panthers logic in that move. The guy has been extremely good from day one and they simply let him sit out in favor of whomever is/was kicking for them.
  17. Watkins has 96 yards per game in the playoffs with a total of 1 TD. He made critical plays but not really an indispensable performance. IMO we could easily replace his production by other means while adding multiple pieces with his salary.
  18. At 29 Desir is probably looking for a long term contract but playing on a 1-year deal could raise his value in the open market as there's still time for a big one. However I don't see him signing right away before actually seeing the FA options.
  19. I hope Wiz's contract was worth letting him leave, otherwise it's a big loss. We should keep Pennel at least.
  20. That would be a great signing if you ask me but I would imagine his value in the open market is much higher. Even Fuller, an inferior player, got a bigger deal.
  21. Foles is a huge upgrade for the Bears, I think they make the trip back to play-offs if he can stay healthy.
  22. I guess that means Watkins is out the door. Hopefully we can salvage a late pick for him or at least a washing machine for him. I wonder if the goal is keeping Robinson around after he tests the free market for a week or so as the cheaper version of Watkins.
