  1. We would still need to fill those positions and don't really have draft capital to build through the draft. We'll be paying Mahomes around 40 million (just an assumption of course) and will need to spend some money on the line as well as DB. I'm expecting us to be big spenders in FA linemen at this point and that would actually be a very smart move. If we could trade away some big contracts like Watkins, or Hitchens it would be a different situation but we need to either pay those guys or pick up the dead money.
  2. There were some rumored interest but it was known all along that Seahawks would trade him away as they couldn't afford him on the roster with Wilson's demands. Giving up multiple picks just when draft picks are most valuable was a surprise in that regard but I guess we were in a bidding war.
  3. The only season we had a decent line was with the leftovers from the old one. Looks like those guys were waiting for a HC like Reid to make them look good and we switched to messing up the line ever since. Let's just hope we don't suffer any significant injuries to Mahomes until Veach/Reid wise up and find decent lineman or Hunt decides to step in and replaces Veach.
  4. Has there been any news on his availability?
  5. The problem is he wants Donald money and may be deserving of it due to his pass rush skills. However he's useless against the run (like the rest of our line) and we won't be able to fix one aspect of the game while overpaying for the other part. I would love to have paid Jones and save cash elsewhere but we already spent the money all around him in contracts that give us no flexibility in the near future. We are way too focused on the pass rush that it's actually hurting us at this point.
  6. I think Jones should have been the one signed as our high priced pass rusher but irreversible moves have been made and we need to compensate somehow. He's the best pass rusher on the team but we need to stop the run as well. I'm curious about how Spags will react to his injury, definitely need to make some adjustments but curious if he'll simply plug the next man up or may be try Kpass as a DT on certain passing downs.
  7. I love the idea of Price for a 5th. We need a decent lineman and a late pick might be worth the risk. He's a backup who might even start for us.
  8. Can't be worse than what we have behind Kelce. Probably 50 or something by now but we have guys that play older.
  9. I'm a bit skeptical about paying Jones $100 million at this point. He's not what we need against the run but a beast at rushing the passer up the middle. If we can trade him away for a high 1st that can bring in a more traditional DT I might be up for it. We have way too many big contracts with Mahomes coming up. It would be a whole other story if we had a couple less guys on huge contracts but we need to flip some players for picks at this point.
  10. I know him from his Seattle days and have been very high on him like most of the folk in Seattle. So far I look to be wrong and he could have been the product of a system or playing with a guy like Wright might have been the key but so far I am definitely very wrong about my evaluation of Clark.
  11. Actually I think both Reid and Veach get the criticism for offense as well as defense as they are both fully responsible on both sides. I don't mind the loss, in fact I sort of like it better than going around with a target on our back. However as I pointed out earlier this line will get Mahomes killed and that might have more long term effects on us than a SB push this year. Veach clearly doesn't understand how to build a decent offense but Reid sure doesn't seem to be pointing him in the right direction either. We have a million WRs on the roster yet our starting OC and OG look pretty much like crap and the backup tackle is possibly the worst of the bunch. In terms of defense we are spending money and picks (even future ones) but don't seem to have good fits on any of them. Pretty much any major addition in Veach era has played the worst football of their career in KC. Still early and I'm hoping some will bounce back but that's way too much of an investment for something that's all but certain.
  12. TBH Houston at 21 million over a year looks more like a bargain now 🙄 I was really wrong about Clark as I expected him to be a beast from day one.
  13. Even with everyone healthy we had an unproven OC and a very questionable LG for the season. Should have found at least an upgrade at LG. Right now I feel really bad that the youngsters are not seen good enough to get on the field but I feel like we are at the point of risking it.
  14. If the reports about Veach's involvement in Mahomes' pick is correct that just means that he's a pretty good scout but definitely not good enough of a GM to be the man. Similar to Pioli, Veach isn't ready for a GM role and it's clear Reid cannot do it all on his own. We need a competent guy who can actually run a franchise while Reid runs the team.
  15. We seem to be way too conservative in playcalling until it really starts to matter. With the emphasis on Reid setting up new plays, what is he actually waiting for if not the playoffs?
  16. I think the coaches are still trying to figure things out. It's not unexpected on defense but offense has been too focused on the playoffs IMO. However going through the current stretch without any losses might have been a good time for the coaches to reflect on how things are going.
  17. Overall I think it simply means that teams are preparing much better against us than we do against them. It takes about a quarter to adjust and then we start rolling. The staff might be too focused on the Pats, but then again we are the team to beat so every team and player might be more pumped up against us.
  18. Who else was active on the line last week? I imagine we roll with at least 7 guys but wouldn't be surprised to see 8 with the way we are dealing with injuries.
  19. I would imagine a 2018 3rd rounder should be more ready and they might have been waiting for him to catch up to the rest of the line in terms of coverage schemes. Definitely worth seeing what both guys have to offer, we need upgrades all over the line and promising youngsters on the roster.
  20. So Allen has shown enough to get released in just a few snaps. Some youngster must be making decent strides.
  21. I think that will happen now that Hill is back in training. Would be nice to hear some details about his performance though.
  22. I think he gets activated on Friday or something. Already very thin at CB so the best place to get up to speed might be in the active rotation.
  23. I think they would need Hill to be on the active game roster and not play at all in the game to create that confusion for the upcoming weeks. Otherwise whenever he's active on the game day the opposition will simply focus on him as a major threat.
  24. Indy has a decent OL that makes things much easier for the skill players. I think it'll be a good test for our front 7. However they don't have the tools to keep up with our offense so I'm expecting a Jaguars-type win in this one.
