  1. I don't think the cap is the primary concern as opposed to trust in the LT. I'm pretty sure Veach is looking for that LT that is worth 20 million in today's market, that's why he offered Williams the big contract last year. The question is whether or not Brown is that LT.
  2. I'm sure the staff has a good idea about his current worth and if that's much lower than his expectation then 16 million isn't that bad for a 1-year rental at LT that might have some future upside. Unless Brown proved himself worthy this season is simply a way to evaluate him further and either pay him his true worth, trade him, or let him leave in FA in 2023.
  3. The rankings don't really mean much. A decent run & pass blocking OT could rank higher than a solid pass blocking OT with questionable performance in the run game. Also good scrambling QB could make OTs look better than they actually are. However the #1 expectation from LT for us is protection of Mahomes. If the staff is happy with Brown protecting the big investment at QB then he'll get paid accordingly. I don't believe he deserves the elite LT money but the inflation in FA contracts point to such a move assuming they want to make a deal. Otherwise the plan could be to keep Brown around for a year until someone else takes over in 2023. We can't be certain of those until the negotiations begin. If the goal was to move Thuney to LT they would have just signed a LT instead. Thuney is making elite guard money because he's an elite guard but playing decent at LT for a game or two doesn't make a player ready to take over the position. We had Reiter do a decent job at backup OC and started a few games only to mess up the OL for 2 seasons at full time role. Not saying it would be the same with Thuney but disrupting his training to focus on another position isn't really a risk worth taking.
  4. Did he find an agent already? I know he probably wants to skip the OTAs and avoid any injuries at this point but this is the time of the year where they would handle the negotiations unless he's to play under the tag.
  5. I don't mind having him here for the right amount but I hate the idea of facing him on the path to the SB more. Would prefer if he got paid by someone like the Dolphins.
  6. May be he didn't sign yet so it wasn't on the books?
  7. That caution is probably what makes it all okay. We didn't know about concussion issues in the past but now that we do the measures are taken. I'm guessing the teams ask their own doctors to evaluate before making the picks but there are always risks as the impact of certain situations aren't known yet. However they probably take better care of players with special circumstances.
  8. I like both Flowers and Dunlap on a 1-year deal. I'm guessing Flowers would love to come in to this setup and showcase himself for a long term deal before he hits 30 in 2023.
  9. CEH also had some nice highlights in the open field getting yards after single contact. Definitely needs some receivers to pave the way.
  10. Investment in scouting with good coaching is definitely the better way to go for any team in today's NFL. Can't buy championships as Reid learned in Philly. Right FA additions help a lot but giving up picks to pay a veteran big money isn't the way to go for sustained competitiveness.
  11. Definitely not happy with the pass rush and the entire DL from late last season. However I don't think we can ignore the fact that we lost the "best" DE from last year's roster and only brought in a rookie to fix the dismal performance. I'm optimistic about the DL improving this year assuming we made the right moves and will continue to do so during summer but also realistic enough to expect us repeat the same performance as we can't just plug in a rookie and get something decent out of the entire bunch. Refresh may be the right term as we have seen starting from the OL followed by the secondary. Next year the focus might (and likely should) be the DL.
  12. On the contrary I think Ingram was a critical aspect of our pass rush after he joined and was the best DE on the roster. I'm pretty sure he'll be missed but hoping that we won't with either another veteran coming in or Clark being less stupid in his final contract year. I have high hopes for Danna but seems like he's a situational player based on the way they have been utilizing him, would be great if he becomes a solid contributor.
  13. It's just another one added to the existing FA list for 2022. I doubt it'll be anything higher than a 6th with this year's crazy contracts unless it ends up taking a higher contract out of the equation which is very unlikely.
  14. Would definitely want Ingram in KC. He did really well coming in so late and looked like still has some in the tank. However without the terms of the deal it's not realistic to favor one move over the other. Right now the focus should be other veteran FAs out there for the DL and there seems to be some decent names. Camp casualties could also work for us. Fixing every single part of the team in a single offseason is rarely possible so no surprises with the current situation.
  15. I agree, it's not on a player where he is chosen. I don't see the Chiefs ever giving a 1st round RB his due in the running game. You basically pick a player to dominate in the backfield but if you limit him so much then it's a wasted pick.
  16. I think there should be more to the coverage than just prime time games. I know that it's a "show of respect" from the NFL but my idea of football has always been the Sunday noon with a few late games sprinkled in between. Now it's nothing but prime time.
  17. Definitely a SB-run schedule but hate the times. Too many night games for my taste
  18. Isn't is the same this time of the year every single season? Then we go back to known commodity
  19. I think the issue is with the staff favoring useless vets that already know the playbook over youngsters that need to learn from scratch. Would be great if we get over that mindset.
  20. Wouldn't be surprised to see him go back but may be it's an Ingram-type situation where he's considering other options as well. Definitely a punk but has attitude on the field we can use. Don't mind other options though.
  21. I think his eventual place will determine that. Definitely the easiest way to protect but if the protected PS is still a thing he could land on that assuming he doesn't blow minds off during TC and is fully healthy. Chiefs have been using the IR card quite often with UDFAs that show some promise, wouldn't be surprised if they do it again but obviously if he's ready to play now that shouldn't be a worry. I can never trust the "rookies need to learn the complicated playbook" part of the Chiefs process.
