  1. I doubt they have any specific plans for Kinnard at this point. The goal is likely to have him start somewhere but I don't think they'll be picky. Even if he turns into a solid backup for the entire interior line that will be a huge addition considering we are thin over there after this season.
  2. Could be the steal of the draft similar to Smith last year.
  3. Seems more like a man cover Safety than a CB or a CB specialized in covering TEs. Don't mind the pick, our secondary development earned the right to pick whomever they like on the 3rd day.
  4. Right now our 3rd option at DE is Kaindoh or Danna one of which will be our 2nd option in 2023. So I'm pretty sure another DE wouldn't be far fetched but need to add another receiver and possibly DT as well depending on the Jones' situation for next year.
  5. Mafe/Ojabo and Brisker/Cook in 2nd followed by Pickens/Watson/Moore in 3rd even though I doubt most of them will be available for us.
  6. Yep, it'll be 9 million dead money against 19 million saved next year. His cap hit for this year prior to the restructure was over 26 million and his release this spring would mean about 13.6 million in dead money. So the Chiefs basically decided to keep him for the dead money he would cost this year but still have 9 million dead for next year.
  7. I think another DE makes a lot of sense. We need to replace Clark next year and going into the draft with an obvious need rarely helps. This supposedly deep DE class could be our way out with the right pick. Let the second rookie rotate with Clark and take over in 2023. With 3 picks today 1 DT + 1 DE + 1 WR/TE could be a nice haul and may be some of those 7ths could help move up in 4th.
  8. I don't think Deebo can replicate that performance. Either they reduce his workload or he fails to deliver similar to RBs that go over 400 carries and suffer the drop-off. Not sure how much hard ball the 49ers want to play but I don't think Samuel has any leverage as he must play out his rookie contract so sitting out will hurt him more than the 49ers.
  9. No they didn't 🤣 They just wasted a few more careers unless a couple of them can find a way out and salvage themselves. Overall I like our draft. We got the more critical positions addressed and still in a position to add a few more critical pieces on both sides of the ball. Even though I would prefer a WR in either round today I don't mind if Chiefs want to go all defense as Safety, DE, DT are all needs at this point. In fact I wouldn't mind trading up for Mafe and get a solid pass rush rotation that will wreck havoc in the AFC.
  10. They basically reworked his deal for this year to add about 3 million to his dead money to stay for this year. I'm guessing that's the money that came off his dead money next year but the rest is correct. He had one of those inflated contracts with unreasonable money towards the end that will save us around 20 million for the cap next year.
  11. I think that was the plan with Niang if he didn't skip his rookie season. However Smith seems to have all-pro potential at RG and doesn't make sense to disrupt his development there. We may have our best interior line of this century and I think that is worth keeping intact. I definitely expect an OT to come in tomorrow and compete with Niang for the RT role and eventually start somewhere.
  12. Love both players and I think the availability may have been the trigger for McDuffie as I don't see the trade up being the goal to kick the draft off. I wouldn't mind if Mafe lasts till us and we likely fix our DE need for the next decade. Pickens or Watson could last as well but depending on the Safety class we may decide to go that route.
  13. Hopefully it'll be Hardman's last year because he'll be in a position to get a good deal in FA. However his trade value at this point is probably very low and that 1 year of production with the possibility of a comp. pick in 2024 seems like a better deal than a likely conditional pick in this year's draft or marginal value in a package deal. People keep forgetting that whomever comes in as the rookie WR is likely to have limited production as they generally do in Reid's system. So even the familiarity with the current offense has good value that no other team will care about.
  14. Yep, I don't understand giving up on the draft because of a terrible pick.
  15. I don't know if it means this is a deep draft in multiple positions or basically me having some prejudice towards number of "worthy" players for each position but I like some linemen and secondary guys much better than they seem to be ranked in the mocks pushing some of the WRs out of the 1st even if that's their true talent level. It's tough to rank PIckens IMO. A lot of players come back from ACL and quite a few come at 100% but as seen with Thornhill that process could be a bit tricky. I like Olave in terms of pure talent but whenever I see that frame I feel like he's about to break in two 😅
  16. Honestly I only expected Wilson, Williams, and London to go in 1st and the rest all feel like 2nd day guys. However the "experts" seem to think these are all day 1 guys.
  17. 3 1sts for a non-QB. Veach would be fired before the 2nd round.
  18. It's a matter of size and speed combo. Can't cover him with pure speedsters and can't really expect him to go below 4.40 with that build. Still has really quick feet and definitely plays faster than his 40 time.
  19. Same here. Born about 6 months after the last 1st round QB selection by the Chiefs. Regardless of the outcome the year Mahomes had to sit out and his first year as the starter has been the most exciting time in life as a Chiefs fan.
  20. I think he would be a great possession receiver in the middle to compliment Kelce and move to the outside occasionally with that great speed. We have enough speed on the outside with the current trio of receivers IMO. I don't think Burks would be a replacement for Hill though, that would be a whole other profile.
  21. 7 WRs in 1st is quite the number. In such a scenario I hope Burks lasts till us instead of Watson.
  22. True, may be every other pick would be a huge waste. However my initial point was more often than not there's some other options in the draft that make the huge blockbuster trade a very questionable one. There's no guarantee that the GM will get the right guys by ignoring a more likely star but with good scouting and coaching staying put generally maximizes the return. Another thing to keep in mind is the risk of trading up for someone like Charles Harris or Takkarist McKinley (Falcons gave up multiple picks for him) or Taco Charlton when there's already TJ Watt available on the board.
  23. Not sure how much of his contract we would be taking over since I don't know its details but I wouldn't want to take on the extra cap that comes with a 1st round pick.
  24. I think he would be the perfect example since Jones is one of the best WRs of this century. Falcons gave up 2 1sts + 2nd + 2 4ths to get Jones but they could simply have a couple guys like Randall Cobb and Doug Baldwin without any trades and could still have a bunch of picks left to draft a few of the 24 pro bowlers that were selected after their original pick of #27. In fact fixing that defense would more likely get them a SB that Jones couldn't deliver.
