  1. Stat-wise we still run the ball but the RPO isn't utilizing the strength of our line much and the RBs start with some deficit due to the lack of pro formation. I think the pro formation is what we have been missing on offense in some critical games this year.
  2. Yep, it was basically a statement saying he'll be here and he'll be paid for quite a while. However I doubt either Hunt or Mahomes actually expect this contract to be honored. The likely scenario is that it'll be around for 5-6 years and then Mahomes gets a new extension which we will need accounting professors to explain us.
  3. Love that structure, basically a vet minimum addition to the dead money and he gets to showcase his skills for one last time for a new contract in FA next year. Win-win for both sides IMO. I don't like him as the primary option but don't mind him making so little additional money to stay around for a single season just in case we don't find our guy early in the draft. In terms of the FA I still hope we can get someone like Flowers and Ingram is still my first choice but he could opt for a long-term deal due to age.
  4. BTW can we update the threat title with the correct last name?
  5. Besides if you need your coaches to work on a guy for a year or two there's no need to spend a high pick on those raw guys. QB and LT are exceptions but the rest of the high picks should be starting in their positions from day one or rotate with solid contribution if there are already established players in those positions.
  6. Depends on the current deal. He's owed the guaranteed money regardless and that becomes the dead cap but if his new deal has no new guarantees then we could be fine.
  7. Assuming Ingram stays #1 need on defense becomes a CB and that could be the first pick followed by a couple DL and possibly an OT. The rest likely becomes a matter of whomever is the best available guy.
  8. I'm hoping/expecting something similar to Hitchens deal which basically made him untouchable for a year and allowed us to cut him afterwards. Looks like a minor additional pay for this year where Clark can make his FA bid in an environment he already knows. I don't mind him sticking around for basically a vet-minimum difference as long as they don't see him as the answer beyond 2022.
  9. Also reduces the burden on CBs as HB can play both positions. I think he's going to leave for a long-term deal but if he doesn't find a good one I don't mind him coming back for a modest deal.
  10. I don't know why but Chiefs definitely know how to find FBs. Only wish we use him more but definitely love his attitude on the field.
  11. Love the Reid signing. Looks physical similar to EB except much healthier. It's about time we had some sure tackler on the field.
  12. I wouldn't mind having HB in town for a 1-year deal just to be on the safe side with Dirty Dan.
  13. They must spend the cap over the 3-year period so some pointless signings are basically mandatory. That being said they might be considering this a good move which wouldn't surprise me based on their track record.
  14. Well f*** you, made me think he was back until I opened Twitter to rant.
  15. I bet even the broadcasters would talk more about the weather than the Jags during a December game in Arrowhead.
  16. I don't disagree that Williams is the best and should be paid accordingly. I would be against retaining Brown for that much money but I doubt even Brown's people are expecting such a deal for him. It should be a reasonable amount making him something like top 5-7 LT at the time of signing.
  17. I thought it was a shoulder injury. I definitely don't want a 30-year old player with a recent back injury unless it's dirt cheap.
  18. Waiting for a very similar announcement regarding Clark. Regarding Smith if he's fully healthy I think he's a guy that fits Spags' idea of a DE in terms of size and build. Not sure about him in an extended role against the run but at least on the pass rushing aspect he would be a huge addition. Obviously it'll depend on the price but being on the wrong side of 30 should trigger a discount.
  19. I think the wording is critical. If it's just for 2022 that basically means they don't want to pay a free agent in the long term but also don't like this draft class or think that we have enough draft capital to fix all the holes. I definitely preferred HB to leave for a long-term deal somewhere else but if he's willing to stay for anything less than 10 million I don't mind just postponing the need for a year.
  20. Looks like there are quite a few prove-it-deal type of guys this year around. I would look to add Juju + Landry + Flowers (DE) and reap the rewards of low investment while giving them a place to showcase their skills for a big payday next year.
  21. I think the tampering will help us figure out what it takes to keep guys like Ingram or Ward in town. It could possibly help clarify the worth of some rotational guys as well but I also doubt we go for a splash this year. However last year's smooth process with Thuney keeps me guessing about all possibilities.
  22. Jags are worthless and Seattle will also be doubtful but the rest look like nothing but prime time games. We might break a record for night games this season.
  23. In that case I doubt a trade is even possible this year, may be over the summer but might as well keep him around for the season. If they want to get rid of him it'll be through a release but not sure if Cox is a player they would simply want to get rid of for no immediate compensation.
  24. I doubt getting rid of Cox makes sense for any reason other than a good draft value. However a question in my mind is that can players be traded before the June 1st and still get the June 1st designation similar to releasing them?
  25. He was a solid rusher and above average receiver + blocker. I think that's the ideal prototype to find a RB for this offense. Specialists that excel in any of those areas are always nice but a solid threat in both the run and the pass game (both as a receiver and a blocker) enables the offense to reach new heights.
