  1. So now they are praising Snyder and Washington đŸ¤¨
  2. I thought we did a good job of pressuring the QB in the second half of the season. May not have the sacks to back it up but the defense found some nice rhythm. Reverted back to the first half of the season in the playoffs though, so could be an opponent thing.
  3. For whatever reason Mahomes played the entire second half as if we were down by a few scores looking for a way out. They should have calmed him down but looked like the staff got even more nervous than he did. RPO is ruining this offense.
  4. Yeah, I also think it's more like a statement with Brown whereas wishful thinking with HB.
  5. Curious about what Ingram is asking for. Would love to have him back for a cheap deal but at 33 he might opt out for money. The same is true for Reed as since he's 30 his likely focus will be the biggest FA deal he can get. I like Ward but don't know what he'll cost. Wouldn't mind keeping him for something like 30 million over 4 years as he has been somewhat consistent this year. I would look to keep Pringle long term too, may be something like 15 over 4 years of 20 over 5. Among the RBs I would look to bring all the FAs back. Williams is a stud and something like 10 over 3 years could get it done. Both McKinnon and Gore should cost less due to workload and the status (Gore is a RFA). Consistency in the position group should only help us since they have been doing a good job. I'm not sure if I want to bring back Brown with a long term deal. He wants to be paid like a top LT but I'm not sure if he earned that paycheck yet. Started bad while trying to adjust and the rest was somewhat of a small sample size. I would look to bring him back with the tag unless he's asking for a modest deal for the same reasons that raise some concerns. I like Wylie back as a veteran minimum signing where we can pay him more without counting against the tag. Seems like the familiarity with the system helped out a lot to make him a decent depth. Nnadi, Burton, DOD, Watts should all come back with lame contracts. I wouldn't worry about bringing anyone else back but the staff could have some reservations for guys like Lammons, Blythe, Bell, Long, etc. which is perfectly fine. I definitely don't want Robinson back as he's just taking up a whole roster spot with nothing to show for it.
  6. The weirdest thing is that Mahomes has been doing so much without the play action. If he was in a position to utilize that as well I don't think there would be any contenders in the MVP race.
  7. You have to spend a certain amount of the cap over a specific timeline so kicking it down the line doesn't really work in every case. However anything not spent is carried on to the next season so if there's a specific move planned for a year the kick actually helps out but I doubt it could be a long-term thing.
  8. Need to get rid of it asap. When you gave Brady a 2-score lead all you got was runs with snaps under center and play action all game long which always works as long as your QB can do a good analysis. It's somewhat overlooked but our OL has been really dominant in run blocking but we barely utilized it all year long and only found success whenever we focused on it.
  9. Allen isn't really an option as he wouldn't really hit FA but luckily it's Williams so there may be a shot at getting him. Chargers know how to find WRs. I would also keep Pringle around with something like 15 million over 4 years, he has been a stud when given the chance and really showed up in the playoffs.
  10. IMO it comes down to 1st&Goal from the 4-yard line with 1:30 to go in the game and 3 timeouts. You simply try to punch that one in twice with the pro formation and may be worry about a pass on 3rd down if that doesn't work. There's the 1st&Goal from the 1 with 9 seconds to go in the first half. In the end we come up with 3 points in those two and that literally breaths life into the Bengals.
  11. Basically the second Kelce turned his head was the money shot but I don't know how good of a view Mahomes has with 3 guys in front of him. Afterwards it's somewhat questionable as the defense is gunning for that but a bullet from Mahomes would likely get the job done.
  12. https://www.profootballnetwork.com/juju-smith-schuster-interested-in-kansas-city-chiefs-again-source/ Saw it on some pundit's twitter or something at first. "It’s no secret in NFL circles with multiple league sources that Smith-Schuster hopes to join the Chiefs as a free agent and has expressed that desire." By the way it could just be his wish with no more traction here in KC front but in such a scenario I would still prefer a veteran WR as a rookie investment takes too long to pay out in this regime for whatever reason. However Juju is a great fit if he's fully healthy.
  13. I replied to the wrong one, wanted to reply to the post mentioning Mahomes, Jones, Thuney restructures.
  14. How did we keep Wylie in town last year, did he get the vet minimum deal where we actually pay him like triple that amount without counting towards the cap? If so can we still do that again?
  15. Don't need to go through all of that IMO. overthecap.com says we have 14 million for next season, likely due to the increased cap and possibly an estimate but if we consider that to be a good one that means releasing Clark and Hitch will end up giving us about 35 million in cap space. Brown, if extended, will cost pennies for 2022 and Juju is likely coming to KC this year which shouldn't cost that much either. Extending Hill is likely the cherry on top in terms of the cap and we can actually defer any possible cap savings to future seasons by ignoring Mahomes, Thuney, etc.
  16. Obviously the #1 priority is the LT but the worst case scenario (and may be the likeliest) is that Brown will be tagged which leaves us with 4 picks in the first 3 rounds that should be spent on defense. Depending on who's available I can see the 2 linemen and 2 defensive backs being the picks which will save us a lot of cap with Clark, Hitchens, HB out of the picture. If HB wants to give KC a discount for another push at the ring I don't mind having him around for something less than 10 million per year. However I prefer to go with an early round rookie or a much younger FA as things currently stand.
  17. At 30 I think his agent won't have an easy time selling HB as worthy of something closer to 20 but I think a more realistic figure would be something like 45-50 over 3 years. I wouldn't mind paying that to a solid Safety but HB is just a good leader with average Safety skills at this point that's definitely not worth as much.
  18. HB is one of those guys that you want to see succeed. Decent dude with good leadership qualities but also emotional. However he's overpaid for the production and this is a capped sport. On the other hand I'm pretty sure Clark can somehow sell that house.
  19. I don't disagree that Andy isn't the executor. If the rest executed perfectly we wouldn't be talking about any of this. However as the HC it's Reid's job to put the team in a position to win. If I'm not mistaken we had only a single down where the runner was touched behind the LOS yesterday and even that ended up being a positive gain. Lack of consistency in calling run plays was the primary culprit of the meltdown in the second half. The first half showed that Bengals were incapable of stopping us so they decided to focus only on a single aspect which combined with Reid's failure as a coach to adjust led to one of the worst offensive performances of recent years. With a 3-score lead and the ball in our hands for the last 2 quarters I trust CEH, DW, McKinnon, Gore to win any game than receivers. The idea of building such a lead is to be able to use the receivers only when there's no other option. Also yesterday's game showed that Reid's trust in those receivers is misplaced when the entire defense is focused on stopping them. I think it's the HC's primary job to put the team in a position to win but Reid basically kept putting new mountains to scale in front of the team against a beat-up opponent that didn't have any answers to our running game. As you said we shall agree to disagree.
  20. I wouldn't write Wylie as our starter but having him around as a rotational guy could be very useful as he seemed to have done a decent job filling in. Even though his interior OL performance is dubious it still gives some versatility which is always useful to have for a team suffering so many injuries at the OL.
  21. Absolutely. When you put your QB against a 8-man coverage what do you expect him to do? The funny thing is our not great running game averaged 5.8 yards per play as opposed to 5.5 yards per passing play. So not sure what makes you think passing was a strength for us? With these stats we ended up passing in 2/3rds of all the offensive plays in a game which we led for about 45 minutes. A smart coach would have ran the ball consistently and only worry about passing if/when it fails, the assumption that it'll fail when the evidence suggests otherwise is crazy. Also the lack of production and 0 net passing yards in the second half until the last drive sort of beat the notion that passing is Andy's strength. I just can't see any situation in the entire second half when Reid put Mahomes in a winnable situation, may be you can help me out but Reid was a bigger stop for our offense than the Bengals defense was in this game. Reid is great in coaching players and coming up with new plays but he's nowhere near as good, if not below average, in play calling.
  22. I'm a bit confused with your logic. You are up by 3 scores, your QB is playing pretty bad and the run game is working great. So why don't you just call run plays? I think your reasoning is exactly why Reid deserves all the blame. If the play call was fixed and neither run nor pass was working in the second half some of the blame would definitely go to the executors but when your own coach is putting you into a losing situation you can't really expect the players to do the hat trick over and over. The key thing to realize is that if the weird play calls worked in the second half and we somehow won, or even won with the same plays but scored a TD to end the regulation it would still be Mahomes magic coupled with terrible play calling.
  23. Up by 18 we were running smoothly on first downs, then they drop back to coverage which is simply stupid in regular circumstances. You know that an offense will just keep running the ball on you as long as it's working and the big lead means they'll do it unless they are in a must-throw situation. However the most predictable coaching staff in the NFL simply handed the game over, I haven't seen so much incompetence by a playoff coaching staff in my entire life (which thankfully hasn't been that long). Can't have EB hanging around for any purpose. I think he established himself as a decent RB coach but other than that he hasn't been able to do anything. A real OC who'll both challenge Reid, as well as teach him, is a must. Otherwise we'll just keep seeing the stupid plays on offense time after time with no reasoning to back it up. Regarding Veach and scouting they are absolutely incapable of finding offensive skill players. The best player to come in during this period is Hardman, who is basically DMC with ball control problems. The group is good at finding fatties on offense and most defensive positions. Whomever is scouting for offensive talent should be fired and definitely need to bring in decent analysts for those positions.
  24. Andy is a great HC but not a great OC. He needs a real OC next to him challenging some of the decisions as well as put him on the right track. We need a Spags-like presence (in terms of ownership) on offense, otherwise Andy isn't really a great coach as his subordinates dictate the greatness of a HC more than anything else.
  25. Or may be a coach that is capable of realizing the obvious.
