  1. They'll have to shape the offense based on the QB. LJ is a great runner but he's not leaving any big shoes to fill as a passer so they might not have as hard of a time.
  2. There's nobody at the line in decline in terms of age and this is a very new group that hasn't played together before. The line was decent and what we are seeing is likely the worst performances of the next 5 years or so and it will get better immensely in the short term.
  3. Hurts to lose any game but I like a good loss early in the season. Even though the Chiefs are still the team to beat at least the target sign on the back isn't as big when there's a loss and helps to point out issues that need addressing early in the season. Tougher to make major changes closer to the playoffs. Game showed that we can't run the ball to save our lives and anyone can run on us and compete. Something for both Reid and Spags to figure out.
  4. I think the #1 priority for defense this offseason will be yet another LB. Need to replace Hitchens and if we can find an immediate impact guy and everyone can stay healthy we might have a major improvement at LB. Obviously too early to talk but my order in the draft would be a DE in 1st and a LB in 2nd.
  5. Can't really name a single individual for the loss, it truly was a team effort. Defense failed to stop the Ravens all game long and when they did the offense couldn't capitalize in the last quarter. Regarding CEH I don't think he'll ever live up to the hype of a 1st round RB simply because Reid doesn't want one. This RPO doesn't give the line or the RB much of a chance to set something up and he's barely getting any touches as things currently stand. Unless we utilize the pro formation I don't think we can talk about an effective run game and there's almost no play-action either.
  6. Basically "pick your poison" for the Ravens
  7. I generally have more interest at noon games when I'm watching the Chiefs play and only hear about others through some info on the screen.
  8. It takes away all the fun of the game, hate it when the refs are so trigger friendly.
  9. It may not deserve the name as Ravens are supposed to be a tough team but I feel like this is really a trap game for the Chiefs. Everything seems to be going in our favor and Baltimore isn't getting any love, on paper they don't look to challenge us, they have critical injuries, etc.
  10. I have to agree with LJ. It's the Chiefs beating Ravens, not just a QB vs RB thing.
  11. Glad it's so long down the line and not during the season but I hope he gets what he deserves.
  12. IMO he's definitely leaving. Just wanted to point out that due to his contract he'll get more emphasis than others and probably singled out a lot more often.
  13. Brown likely deserves more emphasis this season than most other players. He's an extension candidate and even though we are not the ones deciding it's definitely something great to argue about. The same goes for Clark's possible departure as well.
  14. Picks are great but if he's not able to land a HC gig in 3 years as the coordinator of the most explosive offense we might be better off and Reid will not easily replace anyone. Even Sutton lasted for decades, or felt like it.
  15. Makes a lot of sense for USC but I don't see Bieniemy leaving until the end of the season. He'll likely look for a HC gig at NFL and if that doesn't turn out he'll likely go for a college job. We miss out on a comp. pick but it's sort of guaranteed in such a scenario. To be honest I don't think Reid will care, there's probably some guy they are looking to promote from within and if not his coaching tree has some decent guys out there.
  16. Clarks is nowhere near worth his salary. However he's a clear upgrade to what we have replacing him. I think it'll be a major upgrade to the DL and he can actually set the edge against the run. Considering that he'll be released as things currently stand I think he'll play this season with a chip on his shoulder. I remember his contract season in Seattle, we could see something very similar.
  17. Saw him in a few replays but I don't think he had any targets.
  18. I expect Gray to evolve to that role during the season. Hill probably won't be hoarding all the targets so we'll have some more to go around and teams will likely cover Kelce extensively leaving any 3rd option to be relatively free on the field. In terms of WRs I think Pringle may emerge if given the chance but I don't expect either Robinson or Hardman to stick around after this season unless they make a huge leap.
  19. I think it was a matter of cost at his age. Looking at last year he was still solid but he'll be regressing whereas a guy like Brown will likely get better. The staff probably wanted the flexibility of an extension as a definite answer at LT for the next 6 years as opposed to a proven commodity who'll have to be replaced soon.
  20. Comparing our 1st round RB with the Ravens' 1st round RB makes me sad, the scouting team should do a better job. I know the Raiders are supposed to be moving in the right direction but watching the Ravens lose so lame with no offense when needed makes me think this week will be even easier than the Browns.
  21. Sorenson should just make his huge play to begin the game and go to being a backup.
  22. Mahomes will have to adjust to playing with a pocket. Brown wasn't great but he wasn't bad either, I think he'll improve as the season goes on. The downside for Brown is that he'll be the primary target to get through to stop Mahomes so teams will be studying him extensively and he'll always be in the spotlight. There's not much he can do if a speedy pass rusher goes wide but as long as the unit can solidify the pocket he'll get better. Also it wouldn't hurt to have the defenses worry about the run, we'll have some blitzes piling up as well which will be a whole other challenge.
  23. He can get rid of the virus itself but if he developed pneumonia it's going to linger for a while. Obviously it should take shorter for a young pro athlete with great staff to look after him but can take up to 6 months for regular people to get back to 100% and some fail to get there as well
  24. Agree with most of it. After thinking over it the focus of this game is frustration on my part. We seem to be too good in some areas for others to stand a chance but I've basically watched the 2018 Chiefs with the old man running the defense. I don't know if it's entirely due to loss of HB or the lack of LB depth but it was brutal. Even the decent performers at secondary took a step back. First of all Browns were great, they started with a single mentality of keeping up with the Chiefs on offense as they were already probably aware of the defensive deficiencies. I think CEH will end up being a bust simply due to lack of usage. He's not getting enough workload to build a rhythm so his numbers will remain pedestrian and without the rushing confidence he doesn't seem to be useful elsewhere either. If Reid comes up with a few run-first drives I think the offense will really open up and CEH will actually help out. I don't know what role Hardman is supposed to play, still not getting targets and others seem to be getting more love in critical situations. I feel like we'll occasionally get a couple nice games from Hardman/Robinson/Pringle during the season but right now we have only 2 receivers in Hill and Kelce. I loved the OL play. There's room to improve at tackle but the interior is much better than it has ever been in the Reid era. Loved seeing Mahomes get some pocket to work with and this is a solid pass rush we were facing. I think the line will get much better as the youngsters progress during the season. I think Bolton will be a decent LB this year but I expect him to be a stud by 2022. He seems to be filling in at times due to lack of depth but not sure if that's the goal for him this season or if things will progress faster once Gay comes back.
