  1. Sample size is way too low for Taco so doesn't seem like realistic expectations but considering his potential coming out I think we could expect a healthy Taco to be a decent option at DE.
  2. I would rather have him play a year in somewhat of a contract season before being let go but his base salary for 2021 sure is high so it's probably all about how he would perform. Might be a blessing if he would suck, could be a loss if he would be really motivated.
  3. His signing bonus was 19 million but according to overthecap.com 7 million of his 2020 salary was converted so there's some additional cash coming in which seems to be 20.4 million left in total. I don't think the Chiefs would be on the hook for anything else but there could be some non-voidable guarantees in his contract so I'm not sure how that goes.
  4. Hopefully that helps out in terms of the contract. The dead money is gone but we should be able to salvage the rest.
  5. What makes it a federal crime, isn't it all about the state law?
  6. The current circumstances probably mean more playing time at DE for Jones but the reason is likely the lack of bodies outside with more potent players inside.
  7. Smith was my sleeper of the draft for the Chiefs among the players selected but Gray is getting a really nice hype as well. Any decent contributor from late rounds is basically a huge win but if the hype and the reports are for real we might be getting tremendous contributions with picks that would normally go to projects. Not to mention this was supposed to be a terrible draft with lack of scouting and small number of prospects entering.
  8. Frank Clark signed a five year, $104 million contract with the Chiefs. Clark received $62.3 million in guarantees, $43.805 million of which is fully guaranteed at signing. The full guarantee is made up of a $19 million signing bonus, $805,000 base salary in 2019 and $24 million 2020 salary. Per Terez Paylor, $7 million of that guarantee is paid as a salary advance which we are prorating on his contract based on our interpretation of the CBA. Another $1.5 million in incentives for sacks is also available to Clark. If this is accurate we are only on the hook for whatever is left from his signing bonus and may be some more if anything else has been converted at any point.
  9. Considering we have Taco as the most likely starter I would love to bring back Houston for a 1-year deal. The ring should be a good motivator for him. It's all about the manner of his release, if it wasn't a bad breakup I don't see any reason this wouldn't be a slam dunk for both sides.
  10. I agree we may not have won the SB without his second half performance, turned into a beast. Same is true for Watkins. However the SB justifies pretty much everything like keeping guys like Reiter, Nieman, Wylie, etc. around. At some point one starts to wonder if we would have an even easier game with guys that actually lived up to those contracts. Regardless I'm happy with the only SB win of my lifetime and the roster that won it.
  11. Wylie is one of those guys you keep around as long as you can just for the familiarity with the system and the starting experience. If we end up dealing with a bunch of injuries by the end of TC I'm pretty sure Wylie will look like an attractive option for the staff. Also if there are no injuries he could bring in a conditional 7th or a player like Ward if some team is in dire need by the TC.
  12. I would expect a father to spend the effort to keep his kids away from the Lions, not the other way around.
  13. Is this really the cover or just a placeholder for now? Not that I care about the cover but I would expect whomever is getting paid to design the cover to actually come up with something better than a photo some fan took with their cellphone.
  14. No argument there, Clark is the worst DE contract out there. If he was getting paid as much as a guy like Ogbah there would be no issues regarding him at this point. In fact having 3 guys making 2nd/3rd tier deals would probably lead to a solid DE rotation that increases the overall production.
  15. There was some video about how a 5-year NFL contract is actually worth 3 so that's what I would go with for HB. I believe Thornhill will be a keeper but having 2 great safeties in such a pass oriented league is very critical. I don't know when the Chiefs will be in a situation to let FAs leave due to cap issues but as long as we have time for that HB is a guy that should stick around.
  16. I was really high on him coming to KC. He looked like a beast in the making but I guess that was simply Wagner making others look good on defense. I still think Clark is a decent DE but definitely not worth the money we are paying him, not to mention giving up picks to get him. He was good in the playoffs during the SB run which is great but could probably get a similar contribution with less investment.
  17. Humphrey may be the best rookie out of this class for us but I think Bolton will get the nod as the ROY due to the position. He'll have numbers to support his case where Humphrey won't. In terms of the breakout player my favorite is CEH. He wasn't a bad rookie but definitely didn't live up to the pick due to lack of running. With a full offseason and possible emphasis on running more I think he'll end up justifying the pick. I still don't know what they think about Hardman as he didn't get any praise like Pringle or gets the looks as much as Robinson so might end up being a utility guy for yet another season.
  18. Let's just hope Tyreek doesn't end up with a bunch of bruises
  19. I don't think there should be a question about his contributions, he did well for an undrafted guy and has been doing it for a few years now. The only question at this point is whether or not keeping him beyond his rookie deal. Honestly I wouldn't mind keeping him around for a few years with a contract averaging as much as his RFA tender.
  20. Definitely. His presence in the mix could be leading to a false sense of security in the staff regarding RG depth.
  21. Not really surprising. He would have been the 4th back if we didn't have a guy skipping the entire season. Probably wouldn't be able to find a reason to love Andy even if he wanted to.
  22. A lot of vets skip this part of the offseason, especially those closer to retirement but with so many staff changes I would expect all linemen to show up.
  23. Sort of funny to see the Chiefs being able to execute the same scheme over and over without the defense being able to do anything about it
  24. The biggest question mark for me is Niang, where does he end up and does he start or simply be a backup? Probably the most interesting OL pick we had until this year and we still don't know what we have in him.
