  1. Veach really wanted to pay for a LT this offseason I guess the Baltimore's 2nd could bring in a decent OC and actually make this line solid as soon as day one. Wondering if an OT is still in the mix for the right side or if Niang has that settled?
  2. I hate giving up multiple premium picks but if they think that's what it takes to protect the franchise then I wouldn't lose any sleep over giving up a couple 2022 picks. We are in the "protect-now" mode if we want to avoid a Luck situation in KC. Obviously this should mean that Darrisaw is ready to start from day one and free up the money allocated for the stopgap LT to be spent on positions that would otherwise be filled with the 2022 picks.
  3. That's just football. There are always injuries and criminal issues to deal with and the scheduling/venue tends to favor one team over the other, etc. We had everything go against us but that's probably the "luck" factor everyone loves to talk about. However the coaches & management is only as good as their ability to adjust to such situations. Let's just hope this was a good learning opportunity for all of them and hope for better going forward while making sure we take the necessary precautions.
  4. I doubt either player is written down as the starter. LDT is basically playing out his contract and Long is simply trying to make a comeback. The better player should start. I liked healthy Long much better than healthy LDT but don't know what level either of them are at currently.
  5. Could be, Niang may just be a decent LT but a great one might have been juicier. Entering the draft with no need at OT provides great flexibility and the 5th year option that comes with #31 is always valuable when trading down. From last year's comments I thought Niang's versatility is a matter of playing inside or outside but if it actually includes either side of the line that would make him a huge steal. Not very likely though.
  6. Well they sure wouldn't go after Williams if Niang was up to the task and being so aggressive makes me think Niang is further away from the LT job than we are hoping for. We might end up with Niang at LT but definitely not a sure thing and may not end up being his ideal position.
  7. Leaving the door open for some possibilities isn't really a plan and even if they were actually considering it two aging big guys coming back from major surgeries in time to contribute is a terrible plan. I'm not opposing the idea of bringing either guy back but there's no way it could actually be a plan.
  8. Yep, I see him getting bored in a year or two and coming back as a coach or a pundit. He probably wants to spend more time with his family after focusing on the recovery and getting back to NFL shape but at some point he'll move on to the next stage of his career.
  9. I'm fine with any position as long as he's starting at a decent level somewhere on the line. Reid sounds a bit too vague to actually consider it serious talk but if they looked at him seriously for the left side he could end up being a very nice surprise.
  10. Would be nice if he wanted to come back as a coach but I guess he won't think about it for a while. Wish him the best, definitely a classy guy.
  11. Chiefs are the best fit for any WR so no surprises there but after winning a ring I'm not sure what Brown is looking for. May be some lame team gives him a long term deal for nice sum but Chiefs sure aren't in that situation. Would be great to have him on a 1-year deal though, already need a veteran WR and if motivated Brown is a great player.
  12. You give Ravens too much credit. There was some movement there but they have pretty much settled as a perennial play-off chaser that will never mount to anything.
  13. I know it's all about what the market dictates but if we are giving up a 1st + another pick and a huge deal to any linemen he should be at Quenton Nelson level.
  14. At 30 I'm not sure what he's looking for right now but Richardson in the mix would take this DL to the next level. Would probably look for something around 3-4 years but may be he waits a year for the cap increase.
  15. I know Niang has been touted as a RT in the NFL but do we know if that's where they are working him out?
  16. Apparently he's not enough of a piece to get a multi-year deal from anywhere else I don't hate him as a player. IMO he's no different than a veteran signing that comes during the season, does well at times but never a difference maker. I don't hate the signing either, staff can have as many vet minimum guys as they want. If he can avoid the drops he may end up being a decent #3 guy throughout the NFL, nothing flashy but serviceable. In fact I think he was less bad than Hardman in 2020, which isn't really saying much. However I don't think Robinson will mount to anything during his Chiefs tenure as he likely won't get enough targets to have an impact and at some point the upside of some youngster will be much more tempting.
  17. In terms of bodies on the roster I think we are set at DT but if the staff thinks someone is worthless I don't mind bringing Pennel back for cheap. However I don't see it as a critical move especially after the drop-off in 2020 after a very successful 2019.
  18. Not that he's useful at anything but surprised to see a Chiefs WR who can stay healthy.
  19. "Stupid" might be the right word. After the OL disaster of 2020 an injury to the franchise QB with a full offseason to work on some solutions will likely end some careers if the needs are ignored. Regardless the emphasis on the interior OL during the FA shows the commitment to solving the dire issue and somewhat of an indicator about what will happen in the draft in terms of LT and likely an OC.
  20. I hope she recovers soon, sad to see any child in such condition.
  21. Smart move as he doesn't seem to have much chance at WR but a bit undersized to be an everyday TE. Could end up being a decent receiving option in the middle though, never hurts to experiment this time of the year.
  22. Could be, I doubt he'll be of any use until the trial is over though and may be a few weeks longer while dealing with the family matters.
  23. We are looking at these prospects as our LTOTF but there's nothing in town to actually let them wait a year. Not sure what the financial sweet spot is but would love to get one of the FA LTs signed before the draft. I'm guessing Fisher or Schwartz is some sort of an insurance policy but both could end up sitting out 2021.
