  1. I liked Fenton better outside but not sure if the staff is thinking of him as an outside guy. Would love it if he ends up manning one side with Sneed handling the other with NB being our only CB need in terms of starters. Would be nice to find another Fuller type.
  2. True, it's one of those things that are hard to agree upon. It's not easy to label players at certain levels when we all have different expectations or ideas about their performances.
  3. We might already have our NB on the roster so definitely not worth giving up a lot of money but obviously Spags and co. know better. Ingram would be a higher priority IMO.
  4. DJ was always solid but more importantly elevated the players around him. In order Jones to be elite he should be making no-name players around him look much better than they really are while wrecking havoc himself every time he's on the field.
  5. My idea of an elite player at DL is someone like prime Watt, Donald, or DT. Also I consider safeties like Polamalu or Reed as elite players but I also don't think there are any elite ones active in the NFL right now. So my consideration of "not elite" isn't really a slight on the performance but rather about my expectations from the title. I also don't think there's another elite TE besides Kelce right now even though some guys look like they could be on their way. The topic wasn't about offense but but just to give an idea about my expectation.
  6. Not sure he is. He's one of the best players in the position but I'm not sure if he elevates the defense to new level. Our idea of elite may be different but I think Jones is simply a great player in his position but not sure if he's more than that. IMO the last elite player on Chiefs' defense was DJ.
  7. Some players not only perform at an elite level consistently but also make others around them better. It's much easier to identify those among QBs but there are defenders that are at that level. I wouldn't mind giving such a contract to any position on defense that can actually do that. Clark is a very good DE and has grown in the position consistently in Seattle. The problem with him is that even though he can dominate whomever he is facing he doesn't elevate a defense or a position group to the next level. He was one of the better DEs in the NFL in 2019 and was instrumental for the SB run but if you ask me he's not elite and hasn't been so any time in his career. However I think overpaying Clark helped us make the defensive switch and win the SB in 2019. So I hate his contract but it's one of those contracts that a fan can stomach for the ultimate prize. If you ask me the only player on our defense that's close to elite is HB. He's not there yet but he can actually make others around him better and his presence is one of the key reasons we are getting so much production from our young DBs. Thornhill had the makings of a special player but after the injury I think he just became a solid player, may be he gets back on track in the future.
  8. In an ideal world Chiefs would have won or got close to the SB with both OTs on the roster and they have generally been healthy. The initial plan was to replace them in 2022 one of which could be Niang and the other one would likely be a 2021 early pick. The injuries definitely destroyed all the plans and definitely changed the entire outlook of this offseason. Looking back may be an IOL with one of the wasted 2nds would have been ideal but otherwise there were many unexpected events leading up to this cr@ppy OL. Existing investment has been too low for a QB like Mahomes but at least the staff seems to have learned their lesson.
  9. I always thought Dirty Dan was a decent backup material but definitely not a starter. Wouldn't mind him coming back for a lame deal. The only thing that worries me is that Chiefs have been bringing back a lot of useless guys and seems like there's intention to bring back a couple more. I know it's not easy to overhaul so many pieces in an offseason but I feel like we might be in for a bigger disappointment than expected. Still with Mahomes in town SB is very probable in every season but Veach and co. should make the path easier for him.
  10. Not many players want to be buried in a depth chart behind Kelce and Hill. There's a lot of targets to go around but anyone who wants to be a #1 WR will stay away from KC in FA as long as there's someone else out there willing to pay them. We'll probably need to find WRs via draft or go for 2nd-3rd tier FAs.
  11. They could end up trying Thuney at LT or wherever but teams don't pay top money to players just to move them to a new position. Long has history at OT and could end up there but if they see him as nothing but an OG then I would imagine LT is still up for grabs. I liked Allegretti more than what we have at OG but haven't seen the staff show that love yet at OC. Interior OL isn't really the place to bring back a guy like Reiter who was nothing but trash if they already have some nice thoughts about the youngster. Kilgore would make much more sense to bring back for vet minimum as the guy to compete. Another thing to keep in mind is that they actually tendered Wylie to come back, which means 5 OGs on the roster already with possible project players coming in as well. There sure will be some shuffling around.
  12. Prospects are always more valuable than players on the field as the potential is very juicy. Hardman's potential far exceeds his output and the same is true for Toney just like it was for a guy like Lockett. However at this point in the season teams don't go ahead and spend picks on players that have been around a while without realizing their potential. We got Ogbah for pretty much nothing and Ragland was a future 4th. Even proven vets don't warrant high picks unless they are stars so I don't think Hardman's current trade value would be closer to 2nd than a 7th but that's just a statement per his output.
  13. I guess the "ideal" line at this point is: Long --- Thuney --- Allegretti --- LDT --- Niang I don't think Allegretti is any good, otherwise they wouldn't consider bringing back Reiter but he seems to be the only guy on the roster who's not set at a non-OC position. I think we could and should upgrade LT and OC in the short term, Long may end up replacing LDT but we'll see about that. Would love to get Mack for the contract he got but I'm leaning towards a draft pick in 2nd to be our long term starter and we do have some nice history of OCs there. 1st is obviously still LT as we need someone to play in 2022 but may actually need that guy to start at some point in 2021. I also think Remmers will be starting at RT with the contract he got but there seems to be a lot of hope for Niang there so I wrote him down but could end up being a backup or start somewhere else on the line. Villanueva seems like the best FA option for us but don't know how much he would want. If healthy bringing back Schwartz and/or Fisher may be the best way to go and I'm guessing both would need to prove their health for a new deal in 2022 so could make sense to come back to a system where they are already comfortable.
  14. Why would anyone give Hardman a 2nd round value? His value is closer to a conditional 7th than a 2nd at this point.
  15. Yep, lives in KC and still pro-Chiefs. I'm fairly sure his release was a mutual decision. I think he was just a cap casualty whose health will be closely monitored by the front office and could return if he gets back to 100%.
  16. Absolutely, teams don't win SBs with stars in a few positions but rather above average players in as many positions as possible. Can't put all our eggs in a single basket.
  17. FA mistakes are all over the NFL and they are not really acceptable if they cripple a franchise. However Chiefs haven't really had any of those since most of them were somewhat serviceable. Among that list I think Clark was the worst since we gave up multiple picks for a player that would warrant too big of a contract but he's probably the best performer in that list so not something we can't stomach and I don't mind losing a year or two for a SB win and all 3 had roles to play in the only win of my lifetime.
  18. He definitely seems like a generational OT prospect but I don't like trading up for any position other than a QB. I'm fine with giving up a late pick to move up a couple spots if the staff is really high on a player but that's it.
  19. Normally I would imagine either of the two would come in for a 1-year deal or a cheap 2-3 year deal but Williams really messed up the market so I'm not sure if they are actually willing to play for decent amounts.
  20. Could be the case but either would probably look for a long term deal at their ages and a healthy Schwartz is one of the best in the NFL.
  21. Wow, never thought he would get more than a couple million. I guess they are really high on him.
  22. In order to see that we need to find an average guy to his right.
  23. Curious about where they are considering him assuming he's a starter.
  24. The last time we trusted them the best player in the NFL ended up in the concussion protocol and is still recovering from a surgery. Might be a good idea for them to earn the trust first IMO.
  25. To be honest I'm not even sure if we want him without the year off but already paid the piper
