  1. I believe it would include some possible ring/contract chasers after they get through the first wave of free agency. Some guys that don't get what they expect in FA will try to earn the big bucks after a year with Mahomes.
  2. I don't think Hardman brings anything to the table that Chark cannot. Marginally faster but doesn't play with that speed for whatever reason. On the flip side Chark has better ball protection, a huge size advantage, and some critical receptions when it matters the most. Also a 1000-yard season in recent history is a nice plus unless it inflates the contract. Hardman has never shown anything to be more than a #3 at best but Chark has better potential. I would prefer a solid possession receiver to help Kelce over both these guys but if we have to choose I think the Hardman experiment is not worth dragging any more.
  3. Had non-Chiefs fans watching the game together and even they were on the edge of their seats.
  4. People are just making up reasons to come up websites at this point
  5. Already well established at the beginning of the previous CBA. Basically the first 4 rounds are the only ones that have any cap implications and the hit is always reduced by vet minimum due to the top 51 rule. Unless a team is drafting very early cap is no real concern.
  6. Not sure if it's a mistake on their side or pretty solid awareness. Bengals lost their window of opportunity as they needed to lose quite a bit of guys to pay Burrow. They will have to rebuild through the draft to be competitive in the playoffs and OL is always the first place to improve when you have your franchise QB in town. Whether or not OBJ was the right move is up for debate in a year or so but at least they have a decent mindset assuming they understand the need for a real rebuild.
  7. I think it's more of a scouting thing with DBs as well as coaching. We have been drafting a whole bunch of them with solid production early in their careers and a CB is the only position Veach moved up for in 1st so far in his tenure. With WRs I think he realizes that with Mahomes you don't need top guys as given the time he'll make anyone look good.
  8. He missed on quite a few draft picks early in his career but the critical trait IMO is the fact that he basically admitted his mistake and moved on instead of paying them and hope it wouldn't look bad on him. As a result he has been striking gold more often than not recently.
  9. Essentially from 5/95 to 4/64. I would imagine he's already looking for a new agent.
  10. I think it outlines the outdated approach of a decent guy at LT being more valuable than a solid guy at RT. Turns out teams don't think the same and focus on the production. Obviously LT is the most critical position for a team with a right handed franchise QB but nobody is going to throw huge money to questionable guys just for the sake of the position. As seen in Lamar situation even the QB isn't getting the big money by default.
  11. #MeToo Expected something around 10 million per year, surprised he got this low. After 2 rings he'll likely go for money from now on.
  12. I don't mind the 2-year trial signings. As seen with Clark some defenders just excel in a system and don't live up to big expectations elsewhere. Starting from Haynesworth we have seen way too many guys fail big time. If he's good we'll likely keep him around, if not this could just be another WR-type approach with more bodies in the mix to build a strong rotation.
  13. Should have kept him for that much. Opens up a big hole at DL but I'm guessing there's a plan in place. Otherwise Chiefs just estimated his value wrong.
  14. Surprised we didn't match that. May be the 3-year thing got it done as he'll likely have another big payday if he can stay healthy. Otherwise I was down for anything below 12 million per year. That being said a wall in front of Mahomes can get us to the SB with street FAs at WR so no worries on that note. Veach seems to have his priorities straight and so far doing the right things with OL and DL.
  15. Wasn't it 4/64? If so still low but to be honest I don't think there's a market higher than that for him. Pundits call him the #1 FA for the same reason they are advocating for the billion dollar deal for Lamar.
  16. Same here. I think it's the only concern at this point and good pass rushers wanted to be on the blind side. Nowadays teams need solid pass rushers on both sides and even though the blind side is always a bit riskier both tackles have to be solid.
  17. They are probably some clauses built into the contract against some legal implications unless there's a vacuum cleaner involved.
  18. They will likely find a decent receiver out of the backfield who could be a solid ST player based on how we have been utilizing the position. Other than that I don't think it's too much of a worry at this point in the NFL.
  19. Don't know much about him but the reports are generally good. Seems a bit pricey but can't be sure without the details. I'm pretty sure there are quite a few incentives in there inflating the overall value as that seems to be the way Veach rolls in short-term deals.
  20. Not sure about the cap situation but we don't have to pay anyone real money on the line next year as both Creed and Smith have another year under contract and will only get extensions with minimal cap hit in year one. There's a very good possibility that Thuney will stay for another year and then leave. The rest of the in-house FAs will likely not cost more than the increase in cap which seems to be climbing higher than ever before.
  21. Pass rush is coming from both sides and obviously the blind side aspect is always going to be more critical but RT is no longer just an afterthought on the line. Right now 8 RTs are making more than 15 million per year and Taylor is the youngest at 26 (making the most). I don't see any issues with this signing even if he's signed to just be the RT. Next year he'll no longer be the most expensive but Mahomes will have a lot less to worry about on one side of the line.
  22. I think that's the key. He may or may not end up at LT but RT is a critical position as well and AFC West has no shortage of pass rushers. I don't mind paying one of the best RTs a top RT money to protect Mahomes and if he can move to the left side and perform at the same level that's just a win at this point. The critical part is the draft so in order to really focus on the right priorities Reid/Veach should already have a good idea about where Taylor is going to end up. OT is still our biggest need in the draft so may be they pick someone who can end up on either side.
  23. I'm guessing Thornhill cashes in somewhere in this crazy market but this regime has been great with DBs so not too much of a worry.
  24. They definitely overpaid but I guess Wylie brings quite a few rings to town which should inflate his value.
  25. Curious if he was scouted for LT any time during this regime. With the way AFC West is stacked at pass rush we need two solid tackles but obviously the number is quite high for a RT. Don't mind if we find a good LT in the draft and keep Taylor on the right side unless there's a stud LT hidden in his core. This year showed that protecting Mahomes is more important than anything else.
