  1. Love the move. Never expected that the most exciting FA signing of the Mahomes era would be an OG I wonder if a veteran OT + OC come to town as well with the money left, likely stopgaps but still would be a decent boost in the short term. If healthy Alex Mack makes too much sense not to sign at this point. He already got the money from NFL and has no more than a couple shots at a ring.
  2. $20 million I just hope he's willing to leave some on the table for a ring.
  3. True. Let's just hope there's a great FA plan with so much cap space coming up in the short term.
  4. I'm guessing it's a sure thing as everyone in town is happy with him but I imagine they would prioritize it over so many restructures.
  5. Mahomes' contract was structured in such a manner so no surprises there but before contemplating any structures on Kelce or Jones I would prefer saving around 13-15 million by extending HB. That should give us more than enough money for FA this year. Less number of structures should be the key IMO for future relief.
  6. Not sure if I like restructuring so many contracts but having some money to play with in such a troubled FA would definitely be huge.
  7. I definitely wouldn't risk big money on Kyle Long but if he want so show the NFL he's healthy then a 1-year deal with a modest amount would make a lot of sense. Definitely not worth a multi-year deal with big money involved before proving his health.
  8. T.Y. Hilton on a 3-year deal north of 10 million annually is insane. He hasn't really been a threat in the last couple years and already 32. That would be a huge waste of money for any GM, so may be he goes to Houston but that's probably it.
  9. Linsley seems like a guy that could work out for the next 2-3 years so he might be a decent FA addition at OC for much cheaper than what it would cost to get a long term OT. A stopgap LT + a guy like Linsley who won't cost much this year + LT of the future in 1st + a decent OG on the second day would actually fix the line quite a bit while minimizing the cost.
  10. Not really a problem as Mahomes won't be playing with a single contract for 10 years. He'll likely see some restructures and extensions on the way. Since he got no signing bonus the new setup is more like a standard NFL contract. Just adds $3.4 million for the next 5 years and that's it. Makes a lot of sense when the cap goes down. Also Mahomes likely wants to survive the next decade and freeing up cap space is critical for that. I expected HB to get the extension before anything else as his cap hit is insane and only has a year left that Veach wants to extend.
  11. I'm pretty sure there are some plans in place and a few of them may even be solid moves that are all but guaranteed. Otherwise letting two OTs leave so early would be an extremely risky move. It'll take some time but we should learn prior to the draft.
  12. I didn't really like Remmers much. He was better than others on the line but simply thinnest kid at fat camp. I don't know where they slot Niang but could be RT. A first day LT and a second day OC makes a lot of sense as that's where the real value seems to be, don't know much about who'll be available at #31 but depending on the players they should prioritize the positions. I don't think passing on OC prospects in second round is really an option. Veach has been doing that for quite a while and we have a half-billion QB that's trying to be ready by TC. The stopgaps, assuming they find some, will just allow the youngsters to have some time before taking over. Any position on the line that we don't invest in FA for a long term is still the highest priority for this team.
  13. Seems like Schwartz left on good terms. I guess releasing him instead of injury settlement was discussed and agreed upon prior to yesterday.
  14. Are you sure you saw correct number of 0s? Vet minimum is about 1 million for Reiter and even that is paying too much.
  15. He was a 2nd like Morse. That seems to be the sweet spot for Chiefs with OCs.
  16. Not a fan of starting rookies or unproven youngsters all over so I wouldn't mind getting some veterans in the mix. Even LDT seems like a decent stopgap option if he can get back in his 2019 form which is definitely an upgrade over what we have now. Regardless with all the injuries we have been suffering I think OL should still be the top priority in the draft. IMO the only thing that should vary is the priority of specific OL positions such as OG/OC over OT if we get a decent LT via FA, etc. We definitely need to invest high picks on 3 linemen as even if we have some stopgaps we'll need players to take over in 2022 if not sooner.
  17. True. I don't see Veach making such a move without confirmation from Hunt and there's no way he wants Wylie in front of his half-billion investment.
  18. Balto wanted to trade Fisher, they should probably do it for a conditional 7th or something just to grant his wish
  19. With HB's cap hit of 19 million we could get any LT we want on a 1-year rental after the restructure.
  20. Surprised to see both leave so soon, to be honest I expected Schwartz to stay in town as an insurance policy until TC but looks like they are already sold on Niang and possibly have someone else in mind at OT. Does this put us under the cap already or is there still some way to go for that?
  21. $6-8 million seems a bit high for the rookie pool. Looking at #31 figures in 2020 we would have a cap hit of $1.3M (1st) + $350K (2nd) + $210K(3rd) and that's pretty much it. So it takes less than 2 million to sign all rookies, obviously that can go up or down based on how the contracts are structured but we don't really need that much cap to sign rookies. HB's new deal should already be in the works and will likely be done soon and as mentioned there are ways to create cap space so Chiefs might be in better shape than expected.
  22. Good thing about making it to the SB is that the new season is just around the corner.
  23. Not really a fan of moving up in 1st unless a can't miss OL drops to 30 or something so we would give up just a late pick but I wouldn't mind moving up with third day picks to get an extra pick on the second day. 4 picks in the first 3 rounds would get us a decent haul if used right.
