  1. With Mahomes in town Chiefs are always contenders, hence in "win-now" mode. Can't really keep drafting for future and most of them don't even pan out.
  2. Wasn't he was the starter right after the extension in 2017?
  3. He's decent in small doses which is what fooled the front office in trying to make him a starter. When put in a starter role he simply sucked but always found ways to come up with some big plays to justify keeping him around. However it's time for an upgrade as he's not really getting vet minimum.
  4. Veach sure has some issues with seeing value in earlier rounds but I don't think that goes on in 2021.
  5. I agree we can't keep drafting for hope in the 2nd round. We have the best QB in the NFL which means anyone drafted in earlier rounds should be a starter until we fix every position. I loved what Gay brought to the team whenever he played and thought he would be a huge upgrade if he started but can't draft a guy in 2nd only to have him sit behind losers that we call LBs.
  6. Watt would probably give a couple million discount for a contender but those numbers are way too high for the Chiefs. I can see him going to either the Bills or the Packers but Bills are more likely.
  7. As long as Niang can start at a decent level anywhere on the line in 2021 I couldn't care about the specific position. It's always a plus if he can be a decent LT as it's much easier to find a solid day 1 starter at OC/OG with #31 but wouldn't mind if he's just a career starter at OG. The critical thing seems to be the staff assessing his future prior to the draft.
  8. I think a LT is basically certain at this point. Even if Schwartz comes back and Niang plays at LT this year we would still have an opening for 2022. In such a scenario may be they push the OT back to 2nd round in favor of some interior OL in 1st but regardless one should be grabbed early on. Also a fatty with back surgery is never a sure thing so we might need that newcomer to start much earlier than expected.
  9. Best RT in the league at 31 would have a decent market in FA if he's healthy. I doubt he was trying to get immunity but tough to know for sure.
  10. So he needed surgery all along but was hoping to play without it even for a few games. Let's see how things turn out in 2021, a healthy Schwartz would be a huge boost to the OL.
  11. Assuming he's completely healthy I would expect Mack to accept the vet minimum at this point to chase a ring before retirement. If that happens to be the case I think he would be cheaper to have around at a very low risk.
  12. The only way I see LDT leaving is another year of sitting out due to being a doctor or signing a Hali-type deal to spread the cap hit. Retirement is always a possibility but I don't see him doing that without consulting the Chiefs regarding cap issues or the NFL providing some COVID exemptions in general.
  13. Great news and great timing. Mahomes will no longer be a sleepless daddy once the season comes around
  14. There are two types of aging veterans; those with a ring and those without one. A SB ring is the best investment later in the career as it solidifies the shot at HOF while allowing some TV deals and such. In that sense I think Watt would come in much cheaper than the other two who already have a ring to show for their awesome careers. Even though Watt is a rare talent with a great career he might actually earn a lot more by taking less at the end of his playing career.
  15. What's Niang's situation, has he been fully healthy for a while and working with a trainer or is he still dealing with the injury?
  16. I wouldn't mind a vet chasing a ring. However if the idea of a vet is someone like Reiter or Wylie then any pick we pass up is a huge waste.
  17. Definitely need to play the numbers game with the OL. Grab two solid guys to start and add another one early on the 3rd day to compete for a starting job.
  18. Would be great when he feels closer to hanging it up but right now there seems to be really good financial incentives for him to stick around as a starter. A backup role where he's learning some QB coaching with a chance of SB ring could be too good to pass up in a couple years.
  19. Houston at 32 years old sounds like a good matchup to me. Not sure if would come back due to being cut the last time around but if he wants a ring to an already rich career then it could make a lot of sense. He has been productive with the Colts as well.
  20. I'm not sure if Pringle has enough sample size to write off. Whenever he got the chance he did a decent job but when others were around he was mostly used as a situational guy. With Robinson hopefully out of the picture I think he has a shot to be a decent #2 in 2021 but I wouldn't pencil him in as a starter though.
  21. I think it was mostly a coverage choice which has been an issue with the Chiefs LBs for quite a while. I don't know if they go for another guy of the same type but wouldn't be surprised if they do since Dirty Dan got the snaps over pretty much anyone at LB.
  22. Sounds like a decent 3rd round pick after a couple linemen to start the draft.
  23. I was one of those clamoring for him. Expected last year's performance but may be that was a fluke.
  24. Getting to the SB with guys so bad is a success story in itself.
