Pretty much everything had to go in Carolina's favor and that led to us barely losing the first half. We come up with a TD to open the second half and the rest is history but this must be a wake up call to the whole team. Not sure how much of today's crappy performance is the COVID-19 protocol but it needs to stop right away.
Watkins will probably get injured again at some point so not sure about his status but fatties generally have it worse if they are rushed back. Wouldn't mind keeping Schwartz out until he's fully ready.
Teams don't rebuild by shopping their young talent for less than their market value. Williams for a 2nd or something would be crazy with him having 4.5 years on a rookie deal. It's the Jets so you never know but that's probably the most unlikely scenario at this point. Might as well pick up Quenton Nelson for a very likely late 1st.
Rather than their defenses we are likely going to face offenses that can actually score, so playing with a lead may not be all that possible. I agree there are no powerhouses and the playoff games might come down to a couple series.
We seem to be playing with a lot of cushion on defense that allows some easy yards on the ground for opponents. However the scoring defense is pretty good when we are facing a short field. So the goal seems to be stopping the big play and later on the TD. It's probably a good strategy during the regular season but we'll need to do more when we are playing the tough competition later in the playoffs. The plan could be similar to last year but we definitely need a better LB play to face teams like Seahawks and/or Steelers to finish the year.
Mahomes will likely be MVP if we actually need him to be. So far the emphasis seems to be on winning and I'm expecting Reid to try other things on offense to get the run game going. If things don't work out as expected he'll have to rely on Mahomes' arm which will lead to another MVP but the goal is the SB and that might mean giving more snaps to others.
All the shuffling at the line is probably hurting the run game but with big maulers out there we should see some decent plays against the worst "team" in the NFL. Lack of commitment to the run is the biggest factor IMO but that should change in the 4th.
There's literally no team that can't run on us. Hopefully we won't allow any TDs but it's annoying to see our defense's lack of tackling over and over.
