  1. Because we were over at the beginning of the year. Cut players and extended or made bonuses etc and he got us well under. Then to sign the FA he did retool our whole line and still have 9 million left? Oh don't forget he can still do other options like extend HB for more. All this on a team that has been to 3 straight AFC championships, 2 SBs and huge contracts to our core players......while continuing to be a great team. You don't see that as a chess master? I mean we gave our qb his huge deal and still able to do all this. He has it planned out that contracts can be rid of and still complete the team. Last year we had 87 bucks in FA and we signed Watkins, Jones, Kelce and Mahomes to new deals. Come on, even you have to admit he is damn good.
  2. Wait, I thought you said they coveted picks and it shows having 14 drafted starters? Are you saying all 22 are drafted picks now? The whole team for offense and defense? I don't think so. My point was while we may trade for a missing piece, we still have a good amount of starters from our drafts. We have all this plus will still have 9 million in cap space after the draft and can get more with a HB extension.
  3. I see your link now. Don't agree with it as LDT may start over Long or Long may go to RT. Then there is Fenton over Sneed whem Fenton will be slot cb and Sneed will start. Gay over Nieman I my list is a wash. Still that puts us at 14. Edit. If Long beats out LDT then you have our draft pick Niang taking RT. Still a wash.
  4. Who are you counting or getting info from? Mahomes, Kelce, Hill, CEH, LDT, Robinson, Hardman, Jones, Thornhill, Sneed, Fenton, Nieman, Sorenson, Nnadi was/ is starting. I mean that is 14 right there.
  5. Looks like we will still have almost 9 million in space after the draft. With rolling it over and cap going up next year, we will be in a great situation or we can even use now if needed. Veach is a chess master. usatoday.com/2021/04/28/kansas-city-chiefs-pre-draft-orlando-brown-jr-contract-trade-salary-cap-update-10-million/ The Kansas City Chiefs’ finances are still looking good following the Orlando Brown Jr. trade. The last time we checked in on the salary cap, we were three weeks out from the draft and all the free-agent signings were officially on the books. The Chiefs had $13.3 million in space, which was a good spot to be heading into the 2021 NFL draft. Following their recent trade to acquire Brown Jr. from the Baltimore Ravens, the Chiefs are still in good shape with the salary cap. Brown Jr., a former third-round draft pick who is still on his rookie contract, will count roughly $3.3 million against the Chiefs’ 2021 salary cap number per OverTheCap. According to the latest NFLPA public salary cap report, the Chiefs are sitting at just over $10 million in cap space. That number includes Brown Jr. and 74 other players who currently count toward the 90-man offseason roster. It technically only includes the Top 51 contracts on the roster until the roster cuts and the regular season begins, but all players and contracts are accounted for in this number. Another part of this trade to take into consideration, the Chiefs no longer will need as much cap space to sign their rookie draft picks. According to OverTheCap’s projections, the Chiefs will need just under $1.1 million in cap space to sign their rookie class. If they make some more trades, that number could certainly change, but I wouldn’t expect it to get much higher without a first-round draft pick. Brett Veach and his staff should be left with around $8.9 million after the draft. They can use that money to address the remaining needs of the team in a few different ways. They can use it on newly released players or remaining free agents. They could also seek out some more players to acquire in trade, perhaps as we get closer to the season. One option is to hang onto the cap money until later in the season to make a midseason trade or free-agent acquisition. They’ll also have the option to roll those extra salary cap dollars over into the 2022 NFL season, raising their effective cap space. Overall, the Chiefs are in good shape heading into the draft despite making some big additions via trade and free agency during the 2021 offseason.
  6. Well they all played as starters last year too. Hardman may not have been starting, like Nieman, but played quite a bit. Why it is hard to say but I think the point is made.
  7. I believe it was 13 last years starters. This year we have Sneed, Fenton, Jones, Nieman, Thornhill, mahomes, kelce, LDT, Niang, Kelce, Hill, Robinson, CEH. 13 that start or can. I may be missing someone or maybe someone is beaten out but we are not just trade and FA heavy at all. Throw in our ST players and quite a bit have been taken by KC as udfa or draft and are starters.
  8. Sounds like what we got from Watkins lmao. He would be owed over 11 mil his last year with a 7.7 mil dead cap. Maybe a trade comes with restructure? Who knows?
  9. I don't know about that. Here he would be the 2nd wr. He would be paired with a better QB and not have to take on the best CB etc. He would be more healthy than Watkins ever was and I think he has a good 2 years left before he falls off. We don't have a closing window either, which he may like a lot. All this and we can skip on WR for a bit longer as we draft for other needs. Hell, may be because him being 32 with that much money owed he could be had for far less in a trade too.
  10. Why RT? I think Niang gets it this year and on. Now I can see RT next year if Niang does not work out and say moves to RG.
  11. Julio Jones had 3 years and 38 million left in contract. Saw this on NFL network. This would really put us over the top. Use this years 2nd, one of them, and package more from next?
  12. No but I think he is on his last year and he has wanted out before. Perfect for us.
  13. You said it, they use the RB for pass attack out of the back field. CEH was drafted for this. They use a short passing game as a running game too.
  14. From the linked article, found this interesting about centers being drafted and how they compared to Blythe last year. Replacing Blythe in the Draft Only one center since 2010 has been drafted in the second round and become a starting center. Since 2018, six centers have been drafted in the third round that became starters. However, the quality of player is a different story. Drafting a center and watching them become a quality player takes time and drafting outside of the top-50 is very risky. If you take the rookie centers from last season, only Tyler Biadasz had a better pass-blocking grade than Blythe. Even then, it was only marginally better (3.5 points).
  15. Finally, Blythe had just one penalty and 23 blown blocks over 1,023 snaps at center. He ranked at roughly average for starting centers in “points” and may stick out as the weak point on the line — which also emphasizes why they were rated so highly as a unit. If Austin Blythe is your worst offensive lineman, that’s a good sign. On some teams, he would have been the best.
  16. Pro Football Focus ranked Blythe as the No. 13 overall center in the NFL last season. The advanced metrics compiled by PFF reflected a solid campaign in 2020 for Blythe, who earned the No. 13 overall blocking grade among centers and the No. 9 run-blocking grade.Apr 5, 2021
  17. Well two second a 3rd and 4th. I think the cap going up next year plus we still have cap space now to roll over, we will get him signed ling term. So we get a known LT at 24 years old now instead of drafting one. Where do we go now? LB, DE, DT if Reed walks next year, CB, TE and WR. Going BPA for our picks will be nice too. Sorry, no 3rd. Was thinking we had a comp pick this year.
  18. Kansas City is trading its first-round pick Thursday night, along with three other picks in the 2021 and 2022 drafts, to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for Pro Bowl OT Orlando Brown and one pick in the 2021 draft and another in 2022, per sources. Adam Schefter, ESPN Senior Writer
