  1. Find it interesting to see the defending champs back, healthy and having 19 of our 22 SB starters are ranked so low. I know, it is just rankings but man we get the original starters back from injuries and those that played for them, it just baffled me. I do agree we need help in the CB and even LB position still but same guys won it all for us with Gay being drafted. Then to see TB do damn high? Just something to read on a slow day. . KANSAS CITY CHIEFS Biggest strength: The Chiefs have the best quarterback in the NFL, and I don't think there are many people out there arguing that point. It's the out-of-structure plays that capture the headlines for Patrick Mahomes. He is, of course, very good at those, as his 24 big-time throws (eight more than any other quarterback) outside the pocket since 2018 will attest, but he also does the little things well. From manipulating defenders with his eyes to making the right reads from a clean pocket, there isn't much to nitpick with his game. That makes the Chiefs one of the favorites to defend their Super Bowl title in 2020. Biggest weakness: Kansas City did just win the Super Bowl with this cast of cornerbacks (plus Kendall Fuller, who left for Washington in free agency), but that doesn't make it any more of a strength. Bashaud Breeland did a decent job of limiting production with just 29 receptions allowed on the season, but his coverage grade of 51.3 indicates that it came with a fair amount of luck. The reception total also doesn't consider his 12 penalties on the season — tied for most at the cornerback position. A potential suspension following an offseason arrest for Breeland makes that starting spot even shakier. X factor for 2020: The linebacking corps has been a problem for the Chiefs, but 2020 second-round pick Willie Gay Jr. adds an immediate dose of athleticism and coverage ability to the unit. Beside blowing the athletic testing out of the water at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis, Gay has shown instincts in coverage in his limited action at Mississippi State; his 93.9 coverage grade on 294 career coverage snaps in college speaks to that. He could provide a nice spark to the defense as a rookie. 2. They have started talking again. Does it get done before the 15th? Who gets cut/traded if they need money? Okafor, Wilson, hitch (post june 1st designation) dirty Dan or a combination of it? https://arrowheadaddict.com/2020/07/11/chiefs-news-chris-jones-negotiations-started-negotations/
  3. True but they have all played a full season and will do so again. Watkins has done it once? He has yet to play ine with the Chiefs and is more apt to be out than these guys mentioned.
  4. Get a good center. LG and RG will benefit from having a good center and then the tackles holding their own as they have will then look better. Need a smart center who can pick up stunts/blitzes and help double team with a guard if needed. Also one that is not pushed back so easily into the QB. Center is where we need to invest in.
  5. Under CBA is what he means. They have his rights up to 3 more years if they want. Whether he wants to play or not is up to Jones. He either signs one or sits and gives up millions.
  6. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29419411/is-patrick-mahomes-500-million-contract-actually-team-friendly-answering-eight-questions-chiefs-qb-deal Breaks down points in the contract.
  7. Hell no that is offensive and will trigger me. Love of my life ran away with a firefighter! Jk
  8. Look at this previous post. He will have to hit incentives and it is not until much later does the higher salaries come, especially the last 2 years and 2027. Some he will be less than the 35 million and some barely above it. Thing is by then this will probably be great contract. Also the fact we still have flexibility in it all too including having the ability to sign or resign others.
  9. Sources: Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes agree to 10-year, $400 million extension play Has Mahomes done enough to be drafted No. 1 in NFL history over Brady? (2:04) 1:01 PM MT ESPN The Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes have reached agreement on a 10-year contract extension worth over $400 million total that ties him to Kansas City through the 2031 season, league sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Chiefs picked up Mahomes' fifth-year option for the 2021 season in April, putting him under contract for the next two seasons. The 10-year extension puts him under contract with the Chiefs for the next 12 seasons. Patrick Mahomes: Last 2 Seasons Including the playoffs Patrick Mahomes leads the NFL in touchdown passes, passing yards, yards per attempt, Total QBR and wins as a starter over the last two seasons. NFL RANK -- ESPN Stats & Information Pass TD 89 1st Pass yards 10,602 1st Wins 27 1st Total QBR 79 1st Yards per att. 8.5 1st Mahomes becomes the fourth quarterback to receive an extension before the start of their fourth season since 2011, joining Ryan Tannehill (Miami Dolphins in 2015), Carson Wentz (Philadelphia Eagles in '19) and Jared Goff (Los Angeles Rams in '19). He is not the first quarterback to agree to an extension of 10 years or more. The Chiefs had said they intended to sign their franchise quarterback to an extension but had previously indicated it might not happen until after this season. Mahomes, 24, was named Super Bowl MVP after Kansas City's 31-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to win a league MVP and Super Bowl before turning 25. Mahomes became the youngest quarterback to be named Super Bowl MVP, helping the Chiefs erase a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit by leading three touchdown drives. He finished 26-of-42 for 286 yards with three total touchdowns (two passing, one rushing), two interceptions and a 78.6 passer rating. He joined Tom Brady (Super Bowl XLIX) and Terry Bradshaw (XIV) as the only players to win Super Bowl MVP despite throwing multiple interceptions. Mahomes was named the NFL's MVP after the 2018 season when he led the NFL with 50 touchdown passes and threw for 5,097 yards in his first full season as a starter. The Chiefs traded up in the 2017 draft to select Mahomes with the 10th overall pick. He sat out for most of his rookie season behind starter Alex Smith, only starting in the season finale when the Chiefs rested their starters. The Chiefs traded Smith to the Washington Redskins before the following season, making Mahomes the starter. Overall, Mahomes has thrown for 9,412 yards with 76 touchdowns and 18 interceptions in 31 regular-season games. In five playoff games, he has thrown for 1,474 yards with 13 touchdowns and two interceptions.
  10. Well with an extension they can rework those final 2 years too. A lot of time they keep the salary low but pay off a huge signing bonus. So it depends on it was all reworked.
  11. With that said. He signed an extension. So can we give him a bonus payment now and he plays at the cap hit of his last 2 years if his rookie deal? Or do we wait 2 years then his bonus hits and we spread it out then? I believe it will be the former but still this will put 7 years of a contract with the bonus already paid off.
  12. While the player gets the lump sum up front, the team can spread the signing bonus on their cap space into smaller payments over the length of the contract up to a maximum of five years. The spread out payment of this signing bonus is called the prorated bonus.May 9, 2020
  13. Just about to post this too. I wonder what the cost was?
  14. Bullshit, that was a low blow. Using common sense should not be allowed!
  15. Take him and a 1st plus 6th. Give them Jones.
  16. Taping the Rams. Tuck rule. Seattle not running it with a yard to go. Deflate gate. Atlanta blowing a 28 point lead being dumb asses. They could easily have 4 losses in those 6 wins. It is what it is though.
  17. The update says GEHA will not be a naming partner. Am I missing something?
  18. If he sits all season and we tag him a second time with this years tag rolling over....well he will have lost money then averaged over 2 seasons. Plus we can either sign or trade him and save 16 million. He has no leverage.
  19. Yes. He could sign it any time but after week 10 he is done for the season. So we will just free up money for next year plus tag and trade him then. The only thing though is his value will take a hit for us in a trade.
  20. He sits out a year so be it. We can tag again and then trade.
  21. Yeah i would be. I mean Mahomes was injured on a sneak. Lamar does a lot more running and any freak thing can happen. Remember Jimmy G and his dumb ass trying to cut back in and blowing his knee? I hope it does not happen but chances go up the more your qb runs.
  22. Counting on the draft can be just as bad too. Need to supplement with good FAs and hit on picks. The Browns are always top 10 even top 5 and multiple picks in the 1st round yet were one of the bottom teams. I think we have the foundation now and keep getting that one or two good FA now and then and let the high contracts go when needed. We also did not have as many high picks due to trades for Smith, Clark and other layer roynd picks like Ragland, etc.
  23. Came across this reading an article. Man I hope he learns to protect himself. I like having good QBs in the league. Lamar Jackson’s playing style worries us long term Lamar Jackson has 323 rushes for 1,900 yards in his first two seasons in the NFL. He’s also been sacked 39 times. That means he has taken more than 400 hits in two years when you factor in hits not resulting in sacks. It’s unlikely Jackson — or anyone — has as long of a career as someone who runs less than half as much. While he has yet to show durability concerns in the NFL, they feel almost inevitable. In fact, sports analytics group “Sports Injury Predictor” speculates that there is a 25 percent chance of significant injury for the Baltimore quarterback in 2020. https://fansided.com/2020/06/26/patrick-mahomes-or-lamar-jackson-best-qb/4/
