  1. Lol at them saying the West is trying to load up on offense to keep up with us. Are they going to be able to score like we can? If it is a shoot out i like our offense especially at QB.
  2. So they trade a proven DT and pick one in that spot.
  3. Which is fine if the QBs dont work out for them.
  4. Did not realize they traded up just one spot and not keeping the 14th too. They were showing TB at 14 too. So it looked like they had the next 2 selections.
  5. Same guys that cover Hill in practice. We will be fine with all the coverage tapes we see on how other cover hill.
  6. Well 4 tackles off the board. Still have Wirfs and maybe the Houston OT. Still have WR run and a few CBs. Going to have good pick at 32 if we stay there.
  7. Meh. Taylor will hold it until they throw herbert in the den. Lock and Herbert could very well bust out. Just puts their teams back further and I am in love the open division for us to easily win it a few more years in a row now.
  8. Unless you are the Chiefs. They always go to fucking commercial when they pick Maybe since we are the champs they wont do it this year.
  9. True but i trust Mahomes making second and third reads over Lock. Pressure him and he may just fold.
  10. double ruggs and what then? We see what KC can do when Hill is doubled... Kelce, Hardman, Watkins etc. Denver cant say this.
  11. pffft..... his one sentence says it all.....let's pretend....
  12. Cut Sorensen if we draft another S. Trade or sign Jones. If we draft a RB... Dont improve CB or LB. Plenty to still bitch about on here
  13. Karma: It will end up being a 3rd round pick that is the best of them all.
  14. Has there ever been a guy elected to HOF and come back to play? 44 is an old age for a TE! He wants a ring so bad. I like him but did he not say Falcons made his career or some bs?
  15. Same for Sorensen. If we go a hybrid S that can play LB too in nickel coverage I can see him going. Especially if he is picked in round 1 or 2.
  16. Sign both Jones and Mahomes.....Veach is really working all angles. https://chiefsnow.com/does-brett-veach-have-plans-to-sign-both-jones-and-mahomes-in-2020/ Skip to content Primary Navigation Menu NEWS FEATURES GAME PREVIEWS ROSTER 2019 SEASON SCHEDULE ABOUT US Does Brett Veach have plans to sign both Jones and Mahomes in 2020? BY: TRAVIS FORSYTH ON: APRIL 20, 2020 IN: FEATURES Kansas City Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach spoke to the media via video press conference last Thursday in preparation for the start of the upcoming NFL Draft on April 23. Veach brushed over a number of topics including the team’s draft strategy, additions through free agency, salary cap, and the contract situations involving defensive tackle Chris Jones and quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Deciding who gets the big, fat, pay raise, (Mahomes or Jones) is a debate topic that has been brought up from time to time over the off-season thus far. One route many fans are on board with; is extending Mahomes and trading Jones for additional draft capital. While another idea is paying Jones now and allowing Mahomes to go into the final year of his rookie contract. That’s what we’re going to look at as Veach said a few things that indicate the is at least confident they may be able to sign both of their star players to large contract extensions this off-season. Of course, this sounds unrealistic because when you look at the team’s amount of cap space via OverTheCap ($329,548), being able to sign just one of these guys to a large contract seems barely doable, let alone signing both. However, during his video presser, Veach admitted that while sites like OverTheCap do a decent job at showing the numbers side, they don’t display everything he has at his disposal and what he can do with the cap to make certain contracts possible. “Obviously, these sites that fans use — OverTheCap and Spotrac — are both good sites,” Veach allowed. “They’re not always accurate — but they’re close.” He continued. “So the numbers may say one thing, but there are so many different things you can do to get yourself to where you need to be. It’s hard — unless, I guess, you’re sitting in our rooms here — to know what we’re thinking, but suffice to say that obviously, we’re aware of what it costs to sign our draft picks. There are some things that we’ve talked about and we’re prepared to do a number of different things. We’ve been working from this blueprint the whole time.” So, just that little bit from Veach should give any fan some optimism that despite the team’s salary cap position, which was under $200 at one point, the Chiefs aren’t as strapped as the cap would suggest. But do both Chris Jones and Pat Mahomes’ contract extensions fit in the Chiefs’ blueprint? Veach gives reason to believe that everything will work itself out in the contract talks with Chris Jones’ representatives and that there’s plenty of time to eventually get something done. “We’ve had a lot of discussion with Chris and the Katz brothers (Jones’ agents), and we continue to have that,” said Veach. “We’ve got a lot of time, certainly these are — it’s a unique environment in which we’re working with, and we were able to kind of navigate the free agency period and retain some guys. We’re going to work through the draft and we’re going to continue the dialogue. But we know how talented Chris is, and I think the franchise tag speaks for it, and we also have a lot of time.” Veach explained. “I think the deadline to get a deal done is July 15,” Veach added, “So there’s a lot of time to continue the dialogue and to work on something with Chris. We certainly are going to work to maintain him not just for next year, but for the future,” Veach declared. The Chiefs handed their star defensive tackle the franchise tag in late February where he’ll make roughly $16.1 million in 2020 if a new deal isn’t signed. Jones was reportedly looking for a contract similar to Aaron Donald. However, the big money deal defensive tackle DeForest Buckner signed with the Indianapolis Colts may have made Jones’ potential contract numbers grow even more. According to CBS Sports, Buckner’s deal was an $84 million extension averaging $21 million per year, including $56.4 million in guarantees and $39.4 million fully guaranteed at his signing. Which may make things a little tougher on Kansas City if Jones is expecting a similar deal. Veach also touched on the team’s ‘priority’ of the off-season and seems determined to eventually get something done long-term to keep franchise QB Patrick Mahomes in a red jersey for the foreseeable future. “Pat is a priority,” said Veach. “The way we look at it now — with all that’s going on — we’re going to have a lot of time to work with. Again, Pat and his agents Chris Cabbot and Leigh Steinberg know that Pat is a priority. Pat isn’t going anywhere. He’s going to be here for a long time.” Mahomes and Jones were two of Kansas City’s key contributors last season. Mahomes threw for 4,031 yards and 26 touchdowns to win Super Bowl MVP while Jones was the team’s centerpiece of defense gathering 36 tackles, 20 QB hits, and 9 sacks. While I am in no way, shape, or form, a salary cap expert, seeing both players return for the foreseeable future would be tremendous for Kansas City and if there’s a way to realistically sign both players to huge extensions, Veach will find it. Following the draft, this might be something to keep an eye on as we go deeper into the 2020 NFL off-season.
  17. I was not happy with the Peters trade in what we got but it turned out right for us. Ford i think we may have squeezed out a late round pick too. Clark I was fine with because of the 43 switch too. Every one if these worked out for us and helped solidify the defense too. I think if Sutton was gone last year in 2018 season, we may have been looking at 2 in a row. I trust Veach and the staff now. Sure we as fans can say we could have received more, but we dont know for sure. Veach does and what he has received he has turned into a winner so far.
  18. People can think we over paid or did not get value in trades but bottom line we won the SB! We still have a great team again this year so it is not like we went all in ala Rams. I think even then fans here would be happy to have won it all. The cherry on top is we still have a full team of starters with an increase in cap and many options next year too in FA, cap space and the draft.
  19. Jones for 8th overall pick and Peterson for the 32nd pick? I doubt they would do that.
  20. Dee Ford back on the trading block? Lol https://arrowheadaddict.com/2020/04/20/dee-ford-trade-rumors-chiefs-49ers-brett-veach-was-right/
  21. Draft a C/G type. Rankins and Wylie will do much better as Gs this year. Use the pick to solidfy 2 positions in one. Allegretti we have yet to see but the staff does know him. Trade or cut LDT and roll into next year for draft FA etc with cap space and draft picks as we know we will be getting a few comp picks. Draft this year for LB, CB in anticipation of better quality and development for next year. Other areas to look at is RB, TE, WR and even DT I do think they will tag Jones again but they may be looking at his value more of a trade bait if they cant sign him. He will be playing lights out this year as another contract year.

How much speed is enough speed? The Kansas City Chiefs reportedly want to find out with the rumor—the “craziest draft rumor,” as NFL columnist Peter King calls it—that the team is interested in trading up for Henry Ruggs III if he falls within range in the 2020 NFL Draft’s first round. Ruggs is generally considered the best deep threat in this year’s draft class, one that’s already loaded at wide receiver. The idea that many teams would ever trade up for a receiver in such a deep rookie class is already interesting, but the Chiefs being that team makes this laughable—or is it? Here’s the official rumor as posted in King’s latest column: “Craziest rumor of the first round: Chiefs want to trade up for Henry Ruggs III if he falls into the twenties. Insane. Do they want every sub 4.35 guy in the National Football League?” he writes. Ruggs starred at the highest level of college football as an Alabama product who averaged 17.6 yards/catch through three seasons for the Crimson Tide. He caught 98 total passes for 1,716 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns. He’s also a capable kick returner who could help the Chiefs there if they wanted to pull their current options. Therein lies the rub here. Ruggs is, by all accounts, a dynamic addition for any team in the NFL. No one would doubt that, but the very idea of adding Ruggs feels silly from all sides. It’s the very last thing that the Chiefs actually need with both Tyreek Hilland Mecole Hardman locked up. The Chiefs have developed Hill from a Pro Bowl returner to a Pro Bowl receiver and just signed him to a lucrative extension. Hardman is on the same pace after a stellar rookie season and the Chiefs have no issues already spreading the field and taxing defenses for 60 minutes. The primary thing to remember this time of year is that believing anyone is a fool’s game. Draft smokescreens are set left and right for no good reason, really, because no one should believe a rumor like this. First, Ruggs falling that far would be a bit of a surprise but the Chiefs making such a move would be an already loaded offensive team using very little draft capital to move up for something they don’t need. If there was a case to be made here, it would likely center on Tyreek Hill’s early season clavicle injury that last season and how much it limited the offense. Perhaps the Chiefs want some very real insurance on Hill knowing that Hardman himself will be serving as insurance next season when both Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson are gone. In 2021, if Hill is injured, suddenly the Chiefs options are Hardman and Kelce without any more imports. However, that’s one year away and removes the idea of any further moves on Brett Veach’s part between now and then. If you ask us, there is nothing of substance here whatsoever and we’d be appalled if there was even someinterest in the front office on moving up to get Ruggs even if he was within range. 23. Do it for a 4th this year or a 3rd next year. Saves us from picking a RB earlier in the draft and we get a known commodity. Then in round 1-3 get the CB, LB and OL. Then we have a couple years at RB and can draft , FA etc for needs next year.
  24. What is his deal? I would take a chance on him if nothing bad injury wise. Hard to look good with Trubisky as your QB.
