  1. He has it the other way around. I say we tag Jones twice, he plays here next yesr at 15 to 17 million on the tag and then we tag and trade him the 2nd year if we cant resign him. Mahomes will be extended after next season or when the CBA is done.
  2. You could get Jones to sign for 16 or 17 million if you show him more guaranteed money. This way our hit stays low but he is going to make more than being cut in year 3 or 4 if it was way to high to eat. The guaranteed is what he should worry about.
  3. It better be a mid 1st and 2nd the next year at minimum for him. If not tag and let him play another year. Watkins savings would pay for that.
  4. We lose Jones we will gain somw draft picks for it. Money saved off of Watkins will also allow us to go to the FA and pick up a great vet or 2 and then we draft for what is needed from there.
  5. He will be tagged for sure. I would let him play on the tag too. Then tag him again the next year and if we cant sign him, trade him then. Unless some one comes up with a huge deal, I would have him here next year as a tagged player. https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/2020/02/07/kansas-city-chiefs-biggest-offseason-question-pending-free-agent-dt-chris-jones/ In the aftermath of Super LIV, the Kansa City Chiefs will be tasked with creating a roster to defend their Super Bowl title. With that in mind, one question is burning in every fan throughout the Chiefs Kingdom. Will star defensive tackle Chris Jones be back with the Chiefs in 2020? Jones is a pending free agent and is set to command a large contract. Staying in Kansas City has always been the plan according to Jones. He knows the fans see the passion that he plays with and the passion that he has for Kansas City. At the same time, he recognizes the business side of things doesn’t always align. “[Staying in Kansas City has] always been the plan,” Jones said leading up to the Super Bowl. “I try not to think about it because you know the business side of it. That’s why I don’t really talk about it. I don’t really think about it. I just focus on the season and I let my agent handle that.” Jones, of course, changed his tune a bit in the locker room after the Super Bowl victory. If Brett Veach had a contract prepared at that moment, Jones might have signed on the dotted line. “I want to be in Kansas City forever,” Jones exclaimed after the Super Bowl win. “I know I don’t talk about this… but I want to be in Kansas City forever and ever. We’re going to build an (expletive) dynasty in Kansas City, man. We’re like the Golden State Warriors. We’re going for a back to back.” So what will happen with Kansas City and Jones? Some of the options on the table include: A long term contract extension Franchise tag Tag and trade Let him walk in free agency Right now, some are projecting that Jones could land an average salary somewhere between Fletcher Cox and Aaron Donald. That’d put him at around a $20 million average salary annually. That number would almost certainly price out the Chiefs with a mega-extension for QB Patrick Mahomes on the way. The franchise tag would be a much more appealing option to Kansas City, with the number for defensive tackles being projected at $15.5 million. If Jones is true to his word and wants to remain in Kansas City it’s possible that he signs the franchise tag. On the other hand, if he can truly earn $20 million or more on the free-agent market, it’d be unwise from a business perspective to leave that money on the table. You can basically rule out Jones walking in free agency because the Chiefs don’t want to see him in the AFC. He’s already been linked to the Colts because of former Chiefs front-office executive Chris Ballard. Instead, the tag and trade scenario would be the option here. That way the Chiefs can get ample return for Jones and ensure he goes to a team in the NFC. Look for teams such as the Buccaneers, Cowboys, Seahawks and Cardinals to reach out if this possibility becomes a reality. Those teams have ample cap space and need at the interior defensive line positions.
  6. https://heavy.com/sports/2020/02/patrick-mahomes-dez-bryant-chiefs-interest/ Replace watkins as a possession type receiver? It hasn’t even been a week since the Kansas City Chiefswere crowned Super Bowl LIV champions. Yet, Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes is already looking ahead to next season. On Friday, Mahomes responded to a tweet from former Dallas Cowboys wideout Dez Bryant regarding training with Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman. Bryant responded to Hardman’s original post with “Let’s get it brotha,” to which Mahomes enthusiastically replied, “I’ll see y’all there.” 753 people are talking about this It didn’t take long for Bryant to see the quarterback’s tweet, and concurred that it was time for all three to link up for a workout. 125 people are talking about this Dallas released Bryant in April 2018 and the New Orleans Saints signed him to a one-year, $1.25 million deal nine weeks into the 2018/19 season on November 7. Two days later, the 31-year-old tore his achilles tendon injury during practice, effectively ending his tenure in the Bayou. Since then, Bryant has kept active on social media, speaking his mind to over 3.5 million Twitter followers on a regular basis. The Oklahoma State product has also remained committed to his recovery. Following his tweet to Mahomes, Bryant posted a video of him practicing with wide receiver coach David Robinson. 173 people are talking about this Looking healthier by the day, it doesn’t look like it will be too long before Bryant finds himself taking his talents to a franchise on the hunt for another talented receiver to complete their offensive unit. Bryant Previously Expressed Interest in Playing for the Chiefs This is not the first time Bryant has publicly shown his readiness to play for Kansas City’s indomitable offense. In December 2019, a fan asked the Texas native on Twitter if he’d consider coming back if the Cowboys offered him a deal. Bryant said yes, then listed four other franchises he would most like to play for if Dallas didn’t work out. In addition to the Chiefs, Bryant listed the Baltimore Ravens, New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots. 4,812 people are talking about this It appears Bryant is already putting in the work to get himself back in familiar territory. On Thursday, Dallas vice president Stephen Jones said to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that number 88 did message him about a possible reconciliation. “He has texted me that he would like to come back,” Jones revealed. “We have nothing but great respect for Dez and what he accomplished here. Certainly, as we look forward into the future we look at all opportunities and all potential players that could maybe help us out.” Even if he doesn’t return in a playing capacity, Bryant said he’d even settle for a position as contributor, last held by tight end Jason Witten. 11.3K people are talking about this Although it’s not confirmed where he’ll end up in 2020, looks like Bryant has plenty of preliminary options to consider.
  7. Double posted. Please delete. No idea why it did this. Thanks
  8. He was annoying as fuck too. Kept putting Ameer in every thread and how we would regret passing on him. The other guy was Dennard, CB. Then I will admit he got one guy right saying Mccaffrey at RB. He was drafted before us but then he thought it was dumb to move up to 10 and get Mahomes and not go even more to have taken Mccaffrey. Going to bother me trying to remember his name now.
  9. 6 at 200 but make the gauranteed much higher. This way even though he is not at 35 mil (33.3) or above he will get more guaranteed.
  10. I think Hardman taking this year to learn and provide valuable playing time when Watkins and/or Hill was out helped. His 2nd year he should do really well with the plays etc. The thing is, I do think we get a taller type WR that can be the red zone type threat. A bigger body type. If Watkins does not do it cheap, there will be others on a prove it deal that want to win and play with Mahomes.
  11. He will cost 8 million this year upcoming in 2020. It hurts but it had to be done.
  12. I dont think they have to sacrifice anything to cap Gods. They took their hits releasing Houston and Berry. They then signed talent ahead for a future 4-3 switch and also signed players cuttable this year and next. I think they have done it right. There is no way a team will be able to sign all its FAs each year. If Jones cant be signed them trade him. That means though we can use that money to resign or sign other FA too plus get draft picks. I think we are in a good situation to develop talent this year, especiall along the line for possible FA leaving next year. Veach seems to be kne step ahead on things like this.
  13. I dont think his cast of people around him would let him do that. He grew up in it and saw it all plus his dad and mom are level headed it seems along with his girldriend.
  14. Well hell, the topic is 2 in another thread, so we need to win back to back for our 2nd SB title in 2 years! Plus it would tie him with many others having 2 rings and one of very few teams to win 2 in a row. I would love to see 3 in a row. Set the standard for years to come.....
  15. Mahomes is a competitor and i think his drive to be the best ever will get us more rings
  16. I don't know if this was intentional or not but it made me laugh. Rocket surgery...hahaha
  17. Would you rather have lennny or mahomes whether it was then or now? I would pick Mahomes hands down.
  18. Nice to see the NFL Network game that they skip through all the bs and ahead on plays etc. Ibwatched it last night in an hour. Of course i had to see it full game again too
  19. There is no post 1 June cuts as the CBA is expiring. We will wait to sign Mahomes next year with the new CBA. We also have the opportunity to use both our tags this year as there is no CBA. There is a lot we can do here and getting rid of players to go under more on the cap should happen so we can sign those good FA we need, draft and extend those like HB, Schwartz etc above.
  20. Yep FA first and then see what we need for draft. Chiefs waiting on Mahomes contract after CBA helps us a ton this year too. Hopefully some vets and players wanting a SB ring come here or on prove it deals to play with us. Man, I am loving this shortened off season! We need many more of these winning games in February!
  21. He has 11 post season TDs. The man comes to play to in the post season lol
  22. Keep Jones and sign what you can from what we have like Penell. Then go after a LB for raglands replacement or move hitchens to his spot and draft for hitchens spot then. We also get a chance to see Speaks and a healthy okafor next year too.
  23. I know for a fact they are the first team down by double digits in all 3 games to then win by double digits in all 3.
