  1. I would also watch for Jaelyn duncan. Guy could slide up to end of 1st to mid 2nd round. If he is there mid 2nd round and we go other than OT with our first pick, I could see a trade up for someone like him with our 2nd round pick.
  2. Anton Harrison would be nice or a DT next to Jones.
  3. extending him would be only to get the cap hit down the first 2 years and spread it out. Then if cut his cap hit would still be minimal the last 2 years and he still gets paid. Pretty much take the 34 million and spread it out over 4 years instead of 2. Also if Arizona picks up any of that salary it becomes even less of a cap hit for any team trading for him. You could even add some salary the last 2 years to make it 9 mil per year and make it a 36 million dollar deal if you wanted to. Pay the signing bonus and the hit becomes even less. There is so much the Chiefs can do with Hopkins. This way Hopkins gets a little bit more than his guaranteed. The last 2 years would be cuttable and not much of a cap hit if he does fall off the face of the earth. He gets his money and we could even put in incentives also that he could attain years 3 and 4.
  4. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/35905651/2023-nfl-free-agency-key-additions-subtractions-goals-left-team Kansas City Chiefs Marquee additions: Jawaan Taylor (OT), Charles Omenihu (DE) Marquee subtractions: Orlando Brown Jr. (OT), Frank Clark (DE), JuJu Smith-Schuster (WR) Did the Chiefs hit their free agency goals? Not completely. The Chiefs wanted to re-sign Smith-Schuster, whose departure in free agency to the Patriots leaves a hole in their receiving group that they have yet to fill. In Taylor and Omenihu, they added younger replacements for Brown and Clark. One thing we heard: While the Chiefs aren't necessarily done in free agency, they are looking toward the draft, where they have 10 picks and feel good about their ability to get good players. They Chiefs have found several productive players in later rounds in recent years. Biggest remaining roster hole: The Chiefs lost Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman, so they have work to do at wide receiver. They have a start on next year's group with Kadarius Toney, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore, but there's plenty of room for a veteran or a draft pick to come in and claim playing time. -- Adam Teicher
  5. In this article, this is said to be a head scratcher signing: Seth Walder, sports analytics writer: OT Jawaan Taylor to the Kansas City Chiefs. Taylor is a fine pass-protector, but he's not elite. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence's quick release made Taylor look better than he is last season. And Taylor is a weakness in the run game. If he plays left tackle, he's a downgrade from Orlando Brown Jr., but he's getting more money per year than Brown signed for in Cincinnati. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/35872038/nfl-free-agency-2023-best-worst-deals-signings-moves-most-improved-teams I hope they know how they will fit him at LT or get a LT and keep him at RT. He is great at pass pro, which is what keeps Mahomes upright and healthy. I just hope we dont have to provide him with chipping help and such as we seemed to have to do with Orlando. Then in said article it states a great signing: Moody: OT Jawaan Taylor to the Kansas City Chiefs. The soon-to-be 25-year-old is entering his prime and expected to play left tackle for Kansas City. The Chiefs will probably address the right side of their offensive line at next month's draft, but providing the top quarterback in the game blindside protection is never a bad idea. Taylor was one of the best tackles available on the market.
  6. Hopkins himself has stated he is willing to be flexible to add on a year or two to make it work. He wants to play for a contender and a ring. I cannot say that last sentence enough in all my responses. His money is guaranteed this way and he will get the bonus up front most likely to make the cap hit even less the next 2 years. Arizona might also have to eat some of the salary in the trade, as they already have to eat the cap hit for the restructure and such they have done for him already. It is a lot, but this is another reason OBJ may work if he lowers his demands. No trading of picks and you get what you pay for him.

  8. He gets his money either way and now gets a chance for a ring.
  9. To play for a winner. Hopkins is guaranteed his money already. It has happened as Cooks juat did it for Dallas.
  10. Hopkins will have to redo his contract and take less money. Cardinals are on the hook for 32 mil or so due to restructure, bonuses etc. They will save 8 to 9 mil In cap space. Think of him doing the deal like Cooks did with Dallas to fit the cap
  11. Well if Toney is our first, and we get a wr to be 2, whether hopkins, obj or draft.....that leaves either Moore or MVS as our third. MVS as 3 or 4th WR is making what? 10 million this year?
  12. They will decide if the price is right I am sure. OBJ can be had for no draft trading picks. I think it might be OBJ, just waiting for the asking price to come down
  13. Depth if anything. I would think a DT is on the way via draft or fa/cuts
  14. Chark and his injuries though. How much can we count on Toney, Chark and Ross to stay healthy? Same goes for OBJ really. I mean if they all stayed healthy, great. But lose them for a fair amount of games and we start getting the WR look against Cincy in the playoffs.

  16. Tunsil signs extension with Houston to become highest paid LT. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/35895381/texans-reach-75m-extension-lt-laremy-tunsil-source-says Houston Texans left tackle Laremy Tunsil has become the highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL after agreeing to a three-year, $75 million extension, sources told ESPN on Sunday. The deal includes a $30 million signing bonus with $50 million fully guaranteed and $60 million in total guarantees, sources said. In December, Tunsil told ESPN that he wanted to "reset the market" and become the highest-paid offensive tackle. Now the seven-year veteran accomplishes that feat by surpassing San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams, who has made $23.01 million per season since 2021 on his six-year, $138.06 million extension that included $55.1 million fully guaranteed. This is the second time Tunsil has received a contract extension that made him the highest-paid offensive tackle. In 2020, he signed a three-year, $66 million deal with the Texans. The latest extension comes off a season in which Tunsil, 28, was named a Pro Bowler for the third time and finished third among left tackles in All-Pro voting behind the New York Giants' Andrew Thomas and Williams. Tunsil's production last season ranked among the best in the NFL as he anchored an offensive line that allowed 38 sacks, 14th fewest in the league. His pass block win rate (91.9%) was 17th among offensive tackles, as he allowed only one sack (tied for second fewest) and 17 pressures (sixth fewest). With the Texans likely to select a rookie quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick in April's draft, it made sense for the team to extend Tunsil to protect the potential newcomer's blind side. The extension comes on the same day that the Texans agreed to trade wide receiver Brandin Cooks to the Dallas Cowboys for a pair of draft picks, sources told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
  17. Lol, well at least you admitted it. You and a few others in the game threads show panic too at times. All is well though as we won it all.
  18. I was lambasted for talking about Campbell and saying all these points. Now I know I did not think we could get him from the draft but I am glad to see this FA signing. It is what I thought Campbell could do for us. Hope he works out and next year we decide between him or Gay.
  19. Well I am not liking his knee injuries but if the medical is checked out, price is right and no needing ti trade for him also. I bet they are akgn Mahomes who he would like that is out there. If Hopkins is cut, onj and others in FA..... I am sure mahomes is studying what he likes to see from them.
  20. Waller for a 3rd would have been even better.
  21. Thuney also protected a lot inside. No idea how their LG is, but if OBJ can't rely on him it could get bad quickly.
