  1. Could be. I'm just speculatin' I guess it depends on how fast he got off the field. Good thing they are wearing pads.
  2. Who needs Veach? We have his replacement right here on these pages.
  3. Awesome! Thanks. You are truly the Wiz. (Nevermind the man behind the curtain).
  4. I do. I have to erase quoting myself after clicking the quote button instead of the edit button. But I can't erase it. I have to write something. It gives us no way out. So I just write "duplicate post." Kind of awkward. No matter how many times it happens, I still do it now and then. Maybe it's my age - cognitive decline. I prefer to think it is my youth and naivete. My foolish adolescent immaturity.
  5. It was probably just another puffed up CBS sportswriter trying to think of something to say about various draft picks. I would love to see him be a fast first step guy and would like to see some video, if you can post a link. The speed style of rusher is one who can turn his head toward the snapper before the ball is snapped and key on the first movement of the ball by the center, rather than QB cadence and other cues. A lot of guys can't turn their head sideways without losing track of the upper body position of the blocker in front of them. If he can turn his head without losing track of that and key on the first movement of the ball from the center, then he could be a great first step guy. But being a pressure guy rather than a sack guy may not look as good to CBS sportswriters but is just as good for the overall D-line pressure. So, it isn't all fast twitch muscles vs. slow built into each individual. Learning how to use the ball motiion cue is definitely learnable.
  6. Lluv you too, man. 🥰 Look -I hope Karlaftis makes my take look really ignorant. I hope that as much as you. But my "take" was based on things I read several days ago from knowledgeable people who have followed him closely for a long time. I hope my post did not sound like I was declaring absolute truth. But I didn't pull it out of thin air. There have been a lot of opinions by all of us that turn out wrong. I hope mine was also on that point. This isn't about ideology, only football. I think Jet's response to my post was just about right.
  7. C'mon, Cali. The guy showed nothing since we picked him up, and we need the roster space. Our experience with him has lasted a couple of years. He played two games one year and broke his femur on a non-contact play. Before he came to the Chiefs, he was arrested for armed robbery twice. He is a high floor, low ceiling, high risk guy, and we have several new guys who deserve a space and have higher ceilings. Your sarcasm is completely unwarranted. He was a first round draft choice of the Giants who is a bust. He isn't the first. As Chiefs fans, we sadly know about that.
  8. It makes sense to me to replace Hill's production by putting in MVS and Hardman to keep the safeties back, and replace Hill's shorter routes with passes to the RB's. Both CEH and McKinnon can do that.
  9. I think he will be a good lineman because of his other abilities and smarts. Good, yes. Great, probably not. A lot of sacks? No way. I just think the assumptions I am reading here are way too enthusiastic.
  10. Doesn't have a burst of speed at the snap.. He is a power rusher, as you say. I don't know if somebody can LEARN an instant fast first step. I think he will do very well at times, depending on the opponent, but likely to get shut out most games as far as sacks. He will help on pressures a lot. He uses his hands really, really well. But he should be thought of as about a 5-6 sacks per season type of player. I think he will be used in chosen spots in most games.
  11. I'm afraid Karlaftis is going to be just another guy who will be beaten like a drum by half the NFL tackles. He will be a reliable and smart player, but he just doesn't have the burst. He will likely be used mostly moving inside to help with pressure in the middle. I hate to harsh your mellow. He was drafted in his spot for a reason.
  12. If they run the damned ball half the time, an enhanced rush isn't going cut it, and OBJ is much better than average at that. Even 45% might be enough. Question is whether Mahomes (and Reid) can discipline themselves enough to do that.
  13. Running more will help. Drives will take longer, but remember that wears down defenses until they are gasping for air late in the game. Scoring fast is great, but the other guys end up with more opportunities. Just outscoring the other guys worked great in 2018-2019, but we have a different type of team now. The big question is whether Mahomes can run that type of offense. He can't scramble and improvise as much, or HE is going to be the one gasping for air. Can he learn to be a different kind of QB? I know he seems like a god at QB, and we have total confidence in him, but to me the jury is still out on that. How much can Reid get Mahomes to play a different type of game without inhibiting him too much? That will be a big storyline.
  14. We have a three guys who can take the top off a defense. Defenses will not be able to move up and cheat as much as you think, or it will cost them. I would say it is more like a B grade. Patrick is going to hit them hard in the early games with long passes.
  15. I love all the optimism. I share some of it, except the fans discount the importance of experience before the real games start.. We are underestimating its importance. Next year, the experience part will be there, too. It will be a fun ride. We will see offensive rookies do great, until opposing defensive coaches see where their inexperience and weaknesses lie and how to exploit those. Those rookies will start to struggle a bit in the second third of the season. It will be the same with defensive rookies. Also injuries will thow a big wrench into all hopes and plans as usual. I think we have better depth than most other teams, though. It's always a war of attrition.
  16. General thoughts and predictions from me about this season: I think the D will be better than last year, just because of the LB's if no other reason. The secondary is a head scratcher for me. They have the talent. Maybe Reid will pan out and Thornhill will reach full potential and health and get some INT's. Maybe a better pass rush, too. What we lose from not having Tyreek Hill might be neutralized by better defense, so scores will probably be lower. The West has really loaded up, so I think one has to be a homer to conclude that KC will win the division in 2022. But even if we have to get in as a wild card, Mahomes and Big Red have the capability to win any playoff game, maybe more than one. The only truth is that Injuries are always the huge unknown. Denver has already taken a hit. Whoever loses the fewest key players will probably take the division. Depth, depth, depth is always huge. Versatility along the lines. Insane plays at key moments.
  17. I found the reference: https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2022/6/17/23172647/was-the-tyreek-hill-trade-a-questionable-move-for-both-the-chiefs-and-dolphins
  18. Hill didn't leave for greener pastures. He was traded, wasn't he? Am I confused?
  19. I don't have the reference or if it was even valid, but there was reference in an article to the theory that the Chiefs felt that Hill would be less valuable in another year, as a FA, that he he was currently at his peak value in a trade, and that the Chiefs felt the draft was deep in WR's and they needed a lot of good picks to make up for veteran losses at several positions and save money with first contracts. If true, that was pretty unilateral by the Chiefs. They (and others) also felt that Hill was kind of inhibiting the development of other receivers by getting the lions share of snaps, and that they would be up a creek if HIll had a season ending injury. I shared the same feeling myself.
  20. Actually, for Toub those are key ST losses. Those guys were really good on ST. But somehow I think he is going to do fine.
