  1. Yeah, I know 21 year olds are great at evaluating risk. They have so much experience. And, of course, the money flashing in their eyes does not bias them at all. Come on. Get real.
  2. The Chiefs like to gamble on players who are great but a health risk. As much as we all love Trey Smith, he may have gotten those blood clots from an inherited tendency to clot, something called Anti-thrombin III deficiency. In two or three years, as he gets a little older, he could throw another clot to his lungs and either die or have to leave football. A gamble on having a championship level team at the risk of a gamble on players's lives is not exactly even-Steven. There is a reason Smth fell to the 6th round. I sure hope none of them have this happen. They are just kids. It's hard to remember that. Kids feel like superman at that age. Nothing bad can happen them, right?
  3. He is a beast. But there is a reason the other 28 teams passed on him. This is a high stakes gamble, but a crapshoot nonetheless. He is a beast with two surgically fused neck vertebrae. A hit that would be a neck stinger for one player could easily be lifetime quadripegia and being fed out of a tube for the rest of his life for Justyn Ross. If he escapes that, the Chiefs would not be able to afford him in 3-4 years. If he doesn't the Chiefs have more than egg on their face. They have a guy paralyzed from the neck down. As they say on the TV show, "Curb Your Enthusiasm."
  4. You're probably right. I think the Stram call was famous because of the mic, as you say. But the post I mentioned was about famous and nothing else. Some day, the the Wasp may be more famous, but currently that is true only in Kansas City among fans less than geriatric age
  5. It may be the most famous play for the younger guys, but the league would say that Hank Stram's 65 Toss Power Trap that won Superbowl IV was the Chiefs most famous play.
  6. I suppose it would have been good to read the entire thread.
  7. I'm sure going to miss all those great snaps Long has given us.
  8. And you know what they say...."Big hands, big gloves."
  9. I like deep. Except of course, with regard to shit.
  10. Getting Ingram back for a year would go a long way toward limiting what Russell Wilson could do against us. So will McDuffie, Cook, Reid, etc. So will not having Sorenson LOL. Right now, it looks like Veach did the right things to limit Wilson and Herbert and Carr/Adams. We all knew that better D was the answer to improved O in our AFC West rivals, at least partially. Even if all that Veach just did hadn't happened, our LB's are becoming a dominant unit.
  11. Hahaha. Of course, Kelce has been abusing everyone for a long time. There aren't many Kelce's around. Anyway, I'm guessing he is planned to be a special teamer for the most part.
  12. Supposedly, he is known as a great route runner in that intermediate range and reliably gains little windows of separation. After Mahomes develops some chemistry with him and knows exactly where he is going to be, he could be fantastic. It is said that he is very good in the long game as well. It will take him awhile to learn Reid's system, but I am really excited to see him. I am certain there is a plan to get the two of them working together a lot...and soon. But that full chemistry in Reid's system probably won't happen in the first season.
  13. When I am watching a game, and we get a killer penalty that sets us back, I don't relax. I like agressive and hard hitters, but they have to be smart in the NFL. The NFL protects its quarterbacks. They are the private property of gigantic corporations
  14. I don't know about that game, but in the NFL, that would be an unnecessary roughness penalty, and no one would argue the call.
  15. You couldn't be more right. We will always be a passing team, but on those RPO's, we have to keep them honest. We need to run several more times per game and use it more to hold onto leads and use up clock.
  16. I think more reliable WR options than Hill will really help Mahomes, too. There seemed to be an awful lot of snaps in games last season, including the playoffs, where Mahomes was looking for Hill and ignoring wide-open guys, and then he ended up running out of time and forcing the ball, leading to interceptions. One of those plays may have cost us a trip to the SB. Mahomes has great vision and can process his progressions quickly, but he stopped using that all too often. The abilities of three receivers who can get open will make Mahomes use his talents. So, you are right. Overall, I predict our passing attack will actual;ly be better. There is no one like HIll, but it is still a team game.
  17. Chiefs seem to be constructing a strong, fast, intelligent, athletic, hungry, and aggressive team with a mean streak and the best QB in football. I can live with that. The coaching staff and front office are pretty good, too.
  18. Thank for that post, Xen. It gives me a great view of who he is and what to expect. I hope he spends his entire career here and is willing to give up a few extra bucks with each new contract in order to stay.
  19. Agree completely. I'm fine with Townsend. But this Araiza....why not if he is available? Could be the equivalent of changing from Alex Smith to Patrick Mahomes.
  20. Thanks. Sounds like the kind of guy who works really hard to be the best.
