  1. I liked Ward. He has stuck like glue to his guy for three years and just last year learned to turn his head at the right time and contest the ball. I think it was a mistake not to resign him. I also think for that reason that is would be absolutely flat out stupid to sign an expensive FA cornerback, when we could have kept Ward, who has gotten progressively better over the last few years and is now quite impressive (and will be for San Francisco).
  2. Actually the top end speed might be better, because there will be two of them, Hardman and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Both run in the 4.3's.Hardman will run more deep routes, which he is also better at. So the field will be just as stretched. Then there is Kelce/Fortson in middle. JuJu should play the short game almost as well as Watkins did and probably be more available. Then add in the RB's. It's always possible that the offense could be as good as 2018. I wouldn't worry about opponents not having to play 2-high. If they do that, they will get burned by either Kelce or JuJu. Plus we have a better line to protect and also run better. Concluding that we will be not as good a passing team I believe is premature.
  3. The best WR's always seem to emerge out of the 2nd and 3rd rounds, sometimes later or undrafted. It is kind of a crapshoot. Veach will use his picks or grab PS players from other teams. One out of three will emerge as a very good player who will develop chemistry with Mahomes. Whoever we get will be better with Mahomes throwing to him than he would be with someone else throwing to him.
  4. I agree. Last year he looked like he had lost a half step, which still makes him better than anyone else. Statistically, he will lose some snaps to Fortson and Gray but last longer. He will fade out very slowly like Gronk. Time always marches on triumphantly. It is undefeated.
  5. So much space given to so little of significance. He is a backup RB. He is no better than what we had, a little cheaper, a one-year rental to make up for the loss of Williams/McKinnon for awhile. BFD. Yawn.
  6. It always made me feel a little uncomfortable to have so much riding on one player or two or three, any one who could disappear in the middle of a season at any time with an achilles or other injury, with no way to compensate for it during the same season. That uncomfortable reality was worse each year as age makes injury more likely. Any injury to PM, Kelce, or Hill would leave the rest of the players and the fans in a state of shock and deflated hopes. We have been so lucky that they stayed healthy together for 4 years. It will hurt in a major way for awhile for HIll to be gone, but I would rather see a more balanced team that is not so dependent on one side of the ball, with that side dependent on three guys all being healthy at the same time. I really believe that with Reid at the helm and Veach getting the players with all that capital, they will acquire the tools and eventually the chemistry to regain their performance by the end of next season and resume their dominance by 2023. Pat will win us another couple of super bowls. I think this change of direction happened at exactly the right time. My only real worry now is that Mahomes may not adjust his gunslinger compulsion enough to fully command a more balanced offense. I know that sounds like heresy, but the real longer term future depends on Mahomes developing more balance in his decisions on whether to throw on a certain RPO and to whom when the pressure is bearing down on him. His decisions really disappointed me in 2 or 3 tight games last season. He has all the tools, but can he really become a Brady with different types of teams surrounding him?
  7. He was one of the greatest Chiefs ever and the greatest spark for overall team energy and fun of them all. He epitomized the early Mahomes era. He made everyone better and made everyone laugh. His end zone celebrations were the best, but nothing can top that one last season where he grabbed the pom poms from a cheerleader and did the pom pom dance just like the girls do it. Now he gives us the ultimate gift by leaving us with 30 million dollars on the cap and a shitload of draft choices. Plus, he stays out of our division. Thanks for the memories and the parting present, Cheetah. The next great era is about to begin in KC with all that draft capital and Veach driving the bus. In two seasons we will really see dominance, just as the rest of the AFC West runs into cap hell. The Donkeys will finally break their 13 game losing streak to the Chiefs this coming season and then will begin the next 13 game losing streak.
  8. He didn't say specifically, but he did say it was his state of mind. Could be a million things. The pandemic has driven us all nuts for two years. Marital issues, relationships, and other family situations like illnesses can be a gigantic stress. Relationships are the source of the biggest stress for most everybody. Some young players deal with it best by running away, and playing NFL football is a good way to do that.. For others, playing an NFL season in the midst of stress would be impossible. It could be a red flag, but it might not. If he is fine now and has to take less money from a team because of uncertainty, it could be an opportunity for any team. A one year deal is little risk.
  9. But, but....OT, where else you gonna pee? When you gotta go, you gotta go.
  10. How about "the happy, enthusiastic, charismatic, amazing, and everyone likes reaper?" It has a sort of ring to it, right? Really, he smiles and makes everyone feel great while he eats their liver with a little chianti,
  11. My son told me that about 10 minutes after the game LOL. Yep. Great quotes come too fast for accuracy.
  12. According to Adam Sheftner, when Mahomes was ready to go out with 13 seconds left on the clock, Andy Reid told him, "when things are the most grim, be the grim reaper." It was on twitter, but I believe it is a true story. Maybe the most macho thing anyone has ever said.
  13. Thanks OT. (Every one here experiences difficulties, often worse, and we always pull for each other. Life is like that). A Chiefs victory is what matters today. Smiles all around.
  14. Thanks, man. We'll see. It's pretty easy to get impatient with medical care these days. I think it used to be better. I really do. Everyone's role is so fragmented. Thanks for your thoughts, qnet.
  15. Mrs B has heart failure of unknown origin. She underwent an ablation procedure and is waiting for it to resolve (if it does). The horses, goats, and (down to one) dog are fine, as am I. We have one granddaughter who is breathtakingly beautiful and cute. She is four but as tall as a 6 year old. To keep this on football, Willie was not apparently very mature at his son's mom's house. But we should play the hand dealt to us. The same quick temper might be what makes him great as a linebacker. I'd rather have that than Cool Hand Luke during the playoffs. When he is dealing with sweeps, he should be especially good.
  16. Reading all Chiefs news, worrying about the game, and working part-time
  17. This story shouldn't be swept under the rug. I'll bet Willie would not have had any trouble tackling this guy: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HoovMe00.htm
