  1. It looked me like the fans were congratulating him, not pushing him down, just reaching out to pat him. I could be wrong, but it looked like there was good sportsmanship all the way around.
  2. The thing I like about Clowney is that he always has a smile on his face.
  3. Brown was only a fill-in LT previously. This is his first year as a starter at LT. His feet will never be as fast as Fisher's, but his size and strength are far superior. He will be fine...and MUCH better in the run game and in creating a pocket for Mahomes. All he has to do is re-direct a rusher, if Mahomes steps up. He did a lot of that yesterday. Reid and Mahomes will strategize against speed rushers by using the pocket more and getting rid of the ball more to CEH as an outlet. CEH did that well yesterday. I was impressed. We will see a lot more of it, especially against great pass rushing teams.
  4. I did, too. Bolton looked to me to be a long term major force. I was very happy with his play. As for Niemann, I am not sure why all the hate, but I am certainly not sure why he is Reid/Spags favorite as a first line backup. I don't see the future growth in him. He is making mental errors at a rate that should be decreasing but don't seem to be at this point. I know that he is good on ST's., but he is not bad enough at LB to receive the disdain that some express in these posts at this point in my opinion.
  5. Hahaha. I've been seeing numerous articles about next year's draft and who the Chiefs should take. Get on the stick, man.
  6. Remember, it is quite possible that KC and Cleveland could end up in the AFC championship game. The game today could determine if the Chiefs get to play at home or in Cleveland. Today's result means that it would be played in KC.
  7. Winning against a key conference rival in the first game is just as important in Game 1 as it would be late in the seaon. That is my point. I could end up to be a key thing, no matter how much season is left.
  8. That was one of the best things about the whole game...the way Mahomes stayed in the pocket and used it to take away much of what Myles Garret and J'Deveon Clowney can do. I don't recall Brown giving up a sack and only a few pressures. The guys were tasked in this game with giving Mahomes a pocket against the Brown's questionable seconday. That puts run blocking in second place. This new O-line is going to look really good when we play teams with good secondaries. They will be creating gaps for CEH and McKinnon and will be pulling. Creed Humphrey is great in space and excels in the running game. Even with CEH being limited in the running game, he made a couple of key receptions and looked really, really good at it.
  9. The best teams win ugly games like that. I was amazed that we could play a defensive line like the Browns with a brand new O-line containing three rookies and do as well as they did. We were beaten on the lines but not by that much. It takes awhile for an O-line to gel, but I have no doubt they will. It might take several more games, but they will. They are extremely well coached.
  10. What I was thinking when I posted that about first seed what that Cleveland and the Chiefs will no doubt meet in the playoffs, and if they are both competing for first seed at that time, the Chiefs would get it because we ended up on top today.
  11. With three rookies facing maybe the best D line in football, I couldn't expect more for the run game. As the line gels after several games, the running game will take off.
  12. Our D and O lines are gonna be ready for anything after this.
  13. That sounds like a Chiefs type score. They don't like to run up scores on teams and motivate them for the future. Reid hates embarrassing teams. He nurses a lead if he can and then runs out the clock. Smart.
  14. Of course, if you are IR, it doesn't count on the report, so Gay isn't counted. Blythe either, right?
  15. Any of us obviously could be wrong, but picking the Browns to me seems far-fetched. My reasons include 1) Size and strength of O-line compared to last year, which I don't think they can game plan for. 2) J Reed, a healthy Frank Clark, C Jones playing outside, an improved secondary (I believe), Mike Danna and Tershawn Wharton and defensive line depth greater than Browns which will keep them fresher on a hot early September day. 3) Multiple tight end sets that Reid loves and has the personnel to carry out eliminating our red zone incompetence from last season 4) Jerrick McKinnon vs. L'Veon Bell from last year in the RB corps 5) Playing in a full Arrowhead, 6) Reid's famously difficult training camps that get the team in top form by the first game, 7) Butker's range and Townsend's improvement. There are many others that more than balance the improvements in the Browns and their desperation to win. Mahomes can step up into the pocket now and has new, unexpected targets in the mid-range. Reid and Spagnuolo having unlimited time to have game planned for this game, compared to the quick prep needed later in the rest of the season. I just could never forecast a loss in this game, even with the improvements in the Browns. I also can't see it because Baker Mayfield is simply not as good as Mahomes. Never has been. Never will be. He is a fine Alex Smith type QB who manages games well, that's all. He can't carry a team by himself.
  16. What does their hunger look like.? Also (and this is no small thing), what does it feel like? It must be terrifying. I know without a doubt that the Chiefs mindset is one of total complacency. How do I know this? Andy Reid called me, and I literally fell asleep.
  17. Remember also, Humphrey, Thuney, and Smith will be giving Mahomes a pocket to step up into, and he's been working on that.
  18. Think of last year's Chiefs with a bigger and better front line on both sides of the ball, Bolton against the run, a healthy Thornhill, 4 tight end sets in the red zone, and the Arrowhead advantage. I'm going with the Chiefs. I would worry, though, if Mathieu is still in the COVID protocol.
  19. Browns are very good. Chiefs are better. Rookie mistakes, though, are the wild card.
