  1. It's funny how they rank these players and their presumed value and assign numbers to them. I can tell you what is NOT presumed, what we know for a fact. The entire total of sacks allowed by Thuney and Brown COMBINED over the last two years is FIVE. The combined number holding penalties is TWO. Aside from anything else, we know Brown is a pro-bowler for two years in a row, is 24 years old, and is 6'8" and 350 lb. He is a gigantic pro-bowl level tackle who does not make mistakes and is at the very beginning of his career. Same age as Mahomes. So, we have gotten a high first round-equivalent talent, who is huge and also trained up and proven. All of the rest of them could turn out to be complete busts for all anyone knows.
  2. We have gotten zero information on the imaging and "surgery" on his back. Without knowing that, it is very possible that he had a little protruding disc material pressing on a nerve that could easily have been trimmed away, in which he has plenty of time to rehab and come back like new. If he had to have some bone trimmed away from an opening where a nerve goes through, it would take a lot longer. If he had some slippage of one vertebral bone over another (spondylolisthesis), he probably should never play again. We just have not been given the facts on the nature of his surgery and whatever changes were seen in imaging of the lumbar spine.. So, basically yes. He could come back. It wouldn't take some sort of miracle. We are just not allowed to know because of patient confidentiality. Likely, the team doctors know.
  3. Sure, he expects the extension and has likely already been told by Veach to expect it. But his current contract was traded to us, so he has to play it out. I would guess he is planning to get a piece of the increased cap that sets in in 2022 when his contract is extended. I seriously doubt Veach is going to even think about the tag option. We should count on Brown to protect Mahomes for many years. He is the franchise, and Brown is the protector of the realm.
  4. Yeah. That's why I posted this. Same for Thuney, Long, Reed, Blythe. And he was so patient, pouncing on it when the time was right.
  5. Exactly. Veach knew what he had to do this year. The rest is more of a crapshoot than usual.

  7. It's nice in these difficult times to know that at least someone is able to keep a positive attitude.
  8. Watching our team build a dominant O-line in front of Mahomes with his weapons, including CEH, kind of makes me dumbstruck at the kind of offense we may see. I just don't know how any team stops them, barring some injury to Mahomes. Hell, aside from some uncharacteristic drops by HIll and Kelce, we could have easily won that last SB with Mahomes running for his life and still throwing accurately. Imagine what he can do with a very strong O-line and a repaired turf toe. At 73, I never thought I would live to see the Chiefs be the kind of team that now seems likely, not just possible.
  9. I actually remember that. Not certain he fell down on purpose, but it makes a good story. Roaf was something else.
  10. LDT has been out a year, has another profession waiting for him, and was never that good. Wylie is young and still rising, something that takes several years for an O-lineman. I'd give Wylie this one more season to show that he is a solid piece of the o-line puzzle. I know others disagree with that, but I feel pretty good about Wylie as a depth guy who can start for an injured player for stretches of multiple games without significant drop-off.
  11. It obviously depends on how he looks and performs, don't you think?
  12. I'm pretty sure he will really like KC and the locker room chemistry and playing for a champion and for Reid, so he might give us a little break on an extended contract. But most of all, he gives us a chance to get back to the Super Bowl and maybe win it this time. That will attract even more players at a more reasonable rate and help us keep people whose contracts are ending. I say win now, and it will result in more success over a longer time. Oh, I also didn't mention the increased perceived value of first contact guys that are released, which would give us a bit more cap space for future signings. The rich stay rich and the poor stay poor in this game. Having given up two Round 1's for Mahomes will allow us to stay rich for a long time. Aggressive trade away of picks to get high performance veterans is the right approach now
  13. Exactly. That's what Niang wants, and LT is what Brown wants and why we were able to get him. That and the Ravens having to pay LJ a big second contract. They know they already have a great LT in house. Everybody really got what they wanted, Ravens, Chiefs, Brown, and Niang. And Brown gets to stay with a champion. Pretty smart trade for both sides. The first order of business after the draft and after signing rookie contracts will be to structure an extension for Brown that is team friendly and runs until he is close to Fisher's age now, around 30. Even Fisher will get well and sign with a team with one of the promising new QBs who need protection. Brown is especially a winner, because he gets to go to a city with decent BBQ.
  14. Nope, but close. I got out of the business, though.
  15. Quite few, I would guess. But I would be the last to know.
  16. The corresponding salary of the average rookie draftee of $350,000 not including signing bonuses means that they would be 1.4 inches tall and weigh 6.04 lb. Kind of a lead hockey puck.
  17. He is 6'8"", which comes out to only $250,000 per inch of height per year. He weighs 345 lb, which is only $57,971 per pound per year. At least that is what my calculator says. I'm excited. A true bargain. 😅
  18. Draftees are a crapshoot starting in Round 2, sometimes even in Round 1. A proven guy who is 25 is not. That is why Veach does what he does. His specialty in drafting is in the mid and late rounds based on film, scouting, etc. He lands guys like Sneed nearly as often as he misses. In the age of Mahomes, I think his approach is exactly right. In this draft, Ithink he is going to get a pass rushing DE and a fast WR who can stretch the field to go with Hill. He might even pick up another draft choice by trimming the glut on the O-line. Maybe even LDT or Rankin. We can probably get a 4th back for them.
  19. Between both Thuney and Brown the last two years, they had a combined grand total of 5 sacks allowed and I think 4 holding calls. Played nearly every game. Both pro bowlers. Instead of a Round 1, Round 2, and round 3, we have Orlando Brown, a Round 2, and a Round 3. Lost a round 4 this year. Lost a round 5 next year, and gain a Round 6 next year. Brown is 24 years old and has put in his development years, now reaching his prime. Same age as Mahomes. Much better than Fisher ever was. Veach got away with murder.
