  1. I will be here until the sun burns out. Remember, I am pickled from all that formaldehyde.
  2. It sure is more fun being a fan of this team, having to make excuses for LOSING a Super Bowl instead of all the reasons we couldn't get in one. Nice era to be a fan, ain't it? Waited a long time for it.
  3. Who knows what might have happened, if it hadn't been for the Britt Reid incident and the team having to play in the Bucs' home town and having to travel East on a shorter week, even with our decimated line. Travelling at all messes up the internal clock...which really ticks everyone off.
  4. Its been going on for the entire offseason, about how bad Wylie is, because of what happened in the SB. But none of this jibes with the opinions of the coaching staff, various sports writers, and the stats sheets, regarding his abilities and value to the team. O-linemen take a few years to develop, and the Chiefs are apparently high on him. Why all the hate? Is it because of this one game where he (a guard) was asked to show his "versatility" against one of the best D-lines in football while trying to do this with an entirely beat up and disorganized O- line surrounding him? O lines depend on coordination as a unit and experience knowing each other, where they are supposed to be, who is doing what, etc. The best O-lines are ones who have been able to have continuity for a few years. Yet, so many on the forum want to hate on this guy. He is a true scapegoat. I'm sorry, but I am going with Andy and coaching staff on this one. My opinion of Wylie is quite optimistic at this point.
  5. Exactly. He has seen the doctor so much, he might as well be a backup to one.
  6. Is he a crappy coach? I would be surprised, because Andy makes those decisions. I just don't know. Why is Andy Heck bad?
  7. Sorry, but top heavy is the way to go with a QB like Mahomes. Get the big skill positions and weapons filled, then get players on their first contract to make it all affordable. Then get and/or keep the best coaching staff to make the first contract guys really good in year one or two. Paying for great position coaches is a better investment than anything in our situation.
  8. He may not. But if Reid is trying to sow doubt in the minds of the defense, he might be in there as a blocker for another receiver downfield, as a target himself, as a run blocker, or entirely as a decoy to keep a guy a little farther away from Hill or Kelce by a foot or so, allowing for the reception. His versatility in his skills on the field can account for more TD's and first downs than show up in his own stats. for fans and pundits. Yet, still he would not get enough actual targets to show great stats on receiving yards or even percentage of drops that are meaningful when looking at his entire season. He is like a multi-tool carried in the pocket of all construction workers or handymen. The knife may be crappy the different screwdrivers may suck, the awl may not be the best, the pliers may be weak, but he doesn't have to run out to his vehicle to find the right tool most of the time.
  9. That's true, but his targets are few and far between. I think his drops would decrease with repetitions. He is described also as a "tremendous blocker on the edge." See last paragraph of this article: https://www.kshb.com/sports/chiefs-wr-demarcus-robinson-carves-out-role-despite-talented-roster He has been regarded as a "must re-sign." Let's see how he does with more frequent targets this year.
  10. Availability is huge. I don't understand all the sarcasm and hate on D Rob. Not only is he available, but he has improved slowly but SURELY year after year and gets decent separation on his assigned routes. His value can be seen by Mahomes' willingness to throw his way in crucial situations. He knows the system backwards and forwards so doesn't have to be trained. He fills a big role on ST's. He is well liked and does not harm the locker room chemistry. He is the kind of piece of a puzzle that all coaches look for. You can't have a star at every position, not on a team that has to pay Mahomes and its other stars. We need to win championships with our stars and with guys on their first contracts. That is the way it will be until Mahomes retires. Might as well get over it.
  11. Or...it could work the other way. He might throw himself totally into his coaching as a way of dealing with it.
  12. How could it not? You could see it in his demeanor. He was really down.
  13. Yeah. I know what you meant. I just wanted to say something irritating
  14. One of them he used on one half of Mahomes. Another one was used on the other half of Mahomes. Pretty good, I'd say.
  15. JuJu is all about JuJu, for sure. But he is 23 years old and spoiled by acclaim. A spoiled kid. But he also has a huge family of seven brothers and sisters, and he used his money to buy a house for his mom, who he is very close to. Sometimes it is hard to remember that these players are basically kids, even the "older ones." I would assume he also has at least a girlfriend. Moving to a new city is not just about football. These players have lives and loves, and connections. Uprooting himself from all of that for a little more scratch is a no-go for a lot of players, not just him. No one wants to yank their own kids out of school and away from friends or their wives from a job and move to a strange new city for only a one or two year contract. Not even for good BBQ. There is a lot of reason why players decide to stay on, even when Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes send him constant tweets and pictures of them holding the Lombardy.
  16. After reading your posts, I think you are all right as far as a WR. I still believe in the idea that Veach might decide that the value of some other positions we would benefit from may be a greater overall value, considering that there are about 15 really good OT or OT prospects, many of whom will still be available throughout the second round. Even players we currently have would serve with help from Thuney and with an improved running game and quick passing game due to the improved interior. That would give a second tier LT in this rich class a year to learn and get up to speed. I am still just a little cautious because of the years of delayed value of Fisher after we reached for the "best" LT with the first overall pick in the 2013 draft. The lines play as a unit. A stronger interior will make for a stronger exterior as well, and our offensive strategy will be changing somewhat toward the run, instead of disproportionate passing in all situations. Rushers will also have to stay back some to watch for more passes to the RB's. Though WR may have been a bad example, I would rather see us pick a really good LB at 31 and then go for OT in the second. The exception would be if somebody like Teven Jenkins was still there, or maybe Cosmi. Cosmi would be perfect, since he is as talented and has as high a ceiling as anyone but needs some work It might be good to still get Ingram for a year while that is happening.
  17. That's good logic, too. Only Veach can answer this.
  18. It seems to have become standard thinking around the NFL that a left tackle is the second most primo position after QB, because this has become a passing league. This will make some teams who desperately need something else jump on LT's in the first round, even if some other needs are even bigger. Mahomes has his amazing ability to throw accurately on the run across his chest, and our marked strengthening of the interior O-line is going to give us a very potent running game with CEH. Opponents will discover what a mistake it is to try to pressure Mahomes on every play. CEH is going to become a much bigger factor in the quick passing game, also. For these reasons, I believe Reid and Veach will be able to draft an OT in the second round who can have time to develop which will probably surprise and anger fans, by picking a primo playmaker, maybe a WR, that will fall to them in the late first round because of everyone else's desperation to get the first 5 OT's off the board. Anyway, Mahomes will be protected every bit as much by an improved run threat as by a first round rookie LT. Remember, Fisher was the first player drafted in his draft, and he was barely mediocre the first three or four years. A second tier LT playing while he develops will look pretty damned good when he is helped by Thuney next to him. I think that is why we went after Thuney so aggresively.
  19. I don't like a 17th game. More chance for injuries for playoff bound teams, especially after being beat up for 16 games and already nursing all kinds of nagging injuries. It makes it even less predictable that th actual best team will win the playoffs.
  20. Yeah, he'd better not keep bladdering on about it.
  21. I really do, too. But he is a "one yard and a cloud of dust" guy, and we will never actually see him. We will just see them move the chains or raise their arms to signal TD. Mostly, he will be ST. But it is also one more blocking piece. This whole offseason seems to indicate a determination to block well. That is music to my ears and makes me excited to see the final product on the field...with actual fans screaming.
