You must be too young to remember the other GMs that presided over the decline of the Chiefs after our lone SB victory. Jack Steadman and Jim Schaaf were both awful. Peterson followed and was there forever unfortunately. Talk about decades of incompetence! They were all about the perks, the fame and power, and saving money, and Lamar Hunt apparently was fine with that. Steadman especially was most interested in screwing as many women as he could instead of scouting players and making smart contracts.

I remember as a kid that was what my grandpa drank, literally all the time. He was an alcoholic. He died when I was still a kid. They had to bury him, because cremation would have caused an explosion.

The SF D-line is very good. I don't think Mahomes is going to have the time to get the ball to Hill against double teams, and it will be barely possible with Kelce. But Patrick is going to have Hardman and Watkins targets and no doubt RB targets...and he will run a few as well. SF will have to pick their poison, like everyone else has. I have a feeling that Damien Williams is going to have a big game...and maybe a few key plays by D. Thompson.

I'll take the Chiefs, simply because of the team chemistry, coaching, and the team's quest to win the big one for Andy. They remind me a lot of the 2015 Royals. Also, because we have Mahomes, and he is some kind of anomalous freak of nature. I would bet my wife on it. (not a typo)

It takes great courage for an owner and a front office to give up two first round choices to move up to draft a guy that was ranked below some other QB's. Even at the time, they took some shit for that. That is a leap of faith to move up to take someone they liked best, even though he wasn't ranked the highest. How many of us thought, Hmmmm. We need CB's worse. Alex is fine. It really was a leap of faith. It paid off. It might not have. That takes courage. Veatch and Reid will draft some disappointments in coming years, probably some busts also. Will we give them a break? We should.
