  1. YASIR DURANTT, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS Patriots acquired OL Yasir Durant from the Chiefs in exchange for a 2022 seventh-round pick. A second-year UDFA, Durant made zero regular season appearances as a rookie. A three-year starter at left tackle for Mizzou, Durant was billed as wide-bodied with 82nd-percentile arm length (34 3/4") coming out of the SEC. He is already 24 years old, so there is not much to do in the way of projection here. RELATED: Kansas City Chiefs
  2. 12-5 Injuries are almost a given. Maybe complacent. Doesnt matter KC stills wins it all.
  3. Chiefs waive RB Darwin Thompson, per The Kansas City Star’s Sam McDowell. Chiefs waived RB Darwin Thompson. Thompson, Kansas City's sixth-round selection in the 2019 draft, failed to transition his Mountain West-high yards after contact per carry (5.07) in his final collegiate year into the NFL, totaling 80 career touches behind Damien Williams, LeSean McCoy, Darrel 'The Mentor' Williams, Le'Veon Bell, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire the past two years. His loss is another man's gain as this move is simultaneously a tremendous sign that CEH walks into Week 1 at full health. Thompson could land on a practice squad elsewhere prior to the regular season opener.
  4. Agree: Still can only roster 9 or 10. I think, Long & LDT must be on the roster first to place on IR. So who gets cut? Cant guarantee anyone cut goes to PS.
  5. According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Chiefs are receiving calls on multiple offensive linemen. Among them, Duvernay-Tardif has come up in discussions. Of note, the veteran does have a no-trade clause. Duvernay-Tardif had a shot to start at right guard this season and then broke a bone in his hand. Expected to miss four to six weeks, his absence opened the door for Smith to secure the spot on the offensive line. Duvernay-Tardif started 14 games for the Chiefs during the 2019 season and has made 57 starts dating back to the 2015 season. Entering his age-30 season, he is likely viewed as expendable depth for a team who might benefit from adding more talent on the defensive side. If Duvernay-Tardif is willing to accept a trade, seeing an opportunity to start elsewhere, there would be interest. According to Pro Football Focus, he allowed just 20 total pressures in 592 pass-block snaps in 2019. While he isn’t strong as a run blocker, teams with young quarterbacks would likely covet someone who can keep the face of their franchise protected. %7B
  6. Chiefs waive DE Demone Harris, per Herbie Teope. LB Omari Cobb Chiefs waive DE Austin Edwards, per Herbie Teope. Chiefs waive S Devon Key, per Sam McDowell.
  7. Waived: CB/LB Zayne Anderson, WR Dalton Shoen Waived/injured: WR Darrius Shepherd Released: None
  8. Not Stressed. Its entertainment. Disagree on both players. I think KC keeps or trades them.
  9. Current roster size: 79 Waived: CB Zayne Anderson Waived/injured: None
  10. Would be a gamble that I would make. Cut Henne. Good thing Im not the GM LOL
  11. Per AA: I agree That said, we should say a few things about Steve Buechele who has looked darn solid in relief of Henne in the preseason. He outlasted Anthony Gordon, the team’s QB4 who was cut earlier this preseason when initial roster cuts were due in previous weeks. He also looked like he was more pro-ready than other drafted quarterbacks this preseason with the way he handled himself in the pocket and progressed through his reads. The Chiefs often don’t keep a QB3 around on the active roster, but Buechele should be an easy call on the practice squad and for more reason than just having an extra signal caller around. There’s some solid pro potential here, and it will be interesting to watch him develop over time if he sticks in the system.
  12. AP: Darwin Thompson: Darwin Thompson has been great this preseason, but he’s caught in a tough spot. The Chiefs have some extra skill players they likely will be trying to keep. If they keep four tight ends and a fullback, it might be tough to justify four other running backs. Newcomer Jerrick McKinnon has carved out a role as a playmaker, and the team sees Darrel Williams as a reliable backup. So Thompson has to not only convince the team he’s earned the No. 4 running back job, but also that the Chiefs should carry a fourth running back at all. That means potentially having to cut an extra tight end, receiver or offensive lineman. In the preseason finale, Thompson had six touches for 25 yards — has he done enough?
  13. As a back up potentially playing with the #1s I think he can get it done as well as Henne and eventually better. Wont happen but he has tools.
  14. AP: Like most other head coaches, Reid likes to have three quarterbacks available. But unlike other coaches, he doesn’t like to use three roster spots for them. Instead, recent seasons have seen him keep two quarterbacks on the active roster — these days, Mahomes and an experienced backup like Chad Henne — and have a developmental quarterback on the practice squad. But that might be hard to manage when the Chiefs get to the final cutdown. In the team’s three preseason games — including over more than three quarters on Friday — undrafted free agent rookie Shane Buechele completed 37 of 53 passes for 422 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. That’s a passer rating of 96.6. And Buechele has played like a complete professional, appearing calm and poised as he directed the Chiefs’ offense down the field. In a two-minute drill before halftime on Friday, he conducted a 12-play, 1:37 drive leading to a touchdown pass to Marcus Kemp just as if he’d been doing it on an NFL field for his whole life. All of that said, if Buechele is waived on final cutdown day so that he can be signed to the Kansas City practice squad the next day, it’s unlikely that another NFL team will claim him — after all, he’s still an undrafted rookie. But the way he’s played should make the Chiefs at least consider the possibility that they need to adjust their usual routine.
