  1. KC has a log jam at OL. Giants are one of several teams in serious need. Hoping KC can pick up a couple of draft picks for next season. LDT & Wylie ?
  2. Tight end Evan Baylis and wide receiver Antonio Callaway have been waived with injury designations. This means that if another team doesn't claim them before 3 p.m. Arrowhead Time on Wednesday, they will revert to the team’s Reserve/Injured list. Both players have missed a string of practices with injuries; Baylis has an ankle injury, while Callaway has a bone bruise.

  4. Safety Juan Thornhill continues to mix with the second and third teams — but after the workout, Reid assured his listeners there is nothing to it: “I think he’s way better than he was, and then every day, he’s getting a little bit better — and he’s getting more trust in his leg, which is the important thing. He just needs to keep going, keep working through — and if it’s bothering him, then you back him off a little bit and take a step forward from there.” Reid on Remmers and the right tackle battle vs. Niang: “It was good to get [Remmers] back in there full-go — and I think he worked out pretty good. They’ll all play and Andy [Heck] rotates all of them in there. We’ve got full trust in him, though.” Tight end Jody Fortson continues to make a strong case for the roster, making one of Monday’s plays of the day by bringing in a deep pass from quarterback Shane Buechele over safety Armani Watts down the right sideline. He appears to be one of the Chiefs’ most athletic skill players. Despite cornerback Deandre Baker’s strong game against the 49ers, it was still Mike Hughes at right outside cornerback in the nickel. In Monday’s second-team looks, Baker was the left cornerback and Rashad Fenton was the right cornerback
  5. Harold R. Kuntz @HaroldRKuntz3 Jody Fortson is letting his personality show on tape … as Eric Bieniemy would say. Playing like a man who’s going to make it real hard to not put on the 53.
  6. Ryan - Locked On | Athletic Matrix™ | RGR Football @RyanTracyNFL Willie Gay a full go and practicing hard. Fluid and dynamic, blitz coming along Rookie linebacker Riley Cole and running back Elijah McGuire sustained ankle injuries during Saturday night’s preseason opener against the San Francisco 49ers. Both were present for Monday’s session, but did not participate in practice. But two players who were injured during Saturday’s game — linebacker Darius Harris, wide receiver Marcus Kemp (shoulder) — were back at work Monday morning. So were previously unavailable defensive end Taco Charlton (hamstring), Mike Remmers (back), Willie Gay Jr. (concussion protocol) and cornerback BoPete Keyes (finger). All but Keyes did not play during Saturday night’s game.
  7. Sam McDowell @SamMcDowell11 · 16m In next set of 11s, Thornhill is occasionally mixing in with the 1s for the first time today.
  8. Sam McDowell @SamMcDowell11 Juan Thornhill is running with the 3s today.
  9. Herbie Teope @HerbieTeope · Aug 16, 2021 Kyle Long (knee), Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (hand), Elijah McGuire (ankle), Evan Baylis (ankle), LB Riley Cole (ankle), Malik Herring (knee) not practicing today. Taco Charlton (hamstring), BoPete Keyes (finger), Mike Remmers (back), Willie Gay Jr. (concussion) on practice field. Herbie Teope @HerbieTeope Darius Harris (finger), Marcus Kemp (shoulder) back to work after getting dinged up in Saturday’s preseason game.
  10. The first play from scrimmage was an inside zone run that went for 10 yards and a first down. Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire showed good vision on the cutback — but the lane was there because right guard Smith bulldozed the defensive tackle. Niang also got to the second level quickly, sealing off a linebacker so Edwards-Helaire could get the whole 10 yards. Bottom Line The first-team offensive line had a good preseason debut — but we should remember that the 49ers didn’t play any of their starters along the defensive front. Just the same, the Kansas City offensive linemen executed the running plays and kept their quarterbacks clean — but still have some lessons to learn from their performance. Best of all, the three rookie starters did not stand out by looking like first-year players. They all had reasons to feel good about their first game action.
  11. Tim Ward: In an impressive performance, another young player buried on the depth chart added two sacks and five tackles to the defensive box score. Ward was able to time snaps perfectly and get to the quarterback in a hurry. He even clinched the game with a sack — something like a preseason Frank Clark. We have to wonder if the Chiefs will find a way to keep Ward around for yet another season. Mike Hughes and DeAndre Baker: We’ve been talking about the competition between these two — and Saturday night featured good performances from both. Hughes was active and physical in coverage — and it looked like he’s got juice in returns; his aggressive 40-yard kickoff return is just what Dave Toub wants to see. Baker played significant snaps on defense, nearly had a pick and generally looked the part. Maybe this is less about competition and more about two former first-round picks who will have a substantial role this season. Jody Fortson: The newly-anointed tight end put together a solid effort on Saturday — including a smooth one-handed catch and run in the final drive. The bulked-up former receiver had three catches for 32 yards during some quality tight end reps. He’s making sure the Chiefs will once again have difficult decisions to make during roster cutdowns.
  12. Injuries Reid noted that it did not seem like any injuries stemming from the game were serious. Linebacker Riley Cole (right ankle) Linebacker Darius Harris (dislocated finger) Wide receiver Marcus Kemp (shoulder) Running back Elijah McGuire (left ankle)
  13. “We had a couple guys out — and then we had a couple guys working in there — so I thought we did a nice job,” said Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. “99 (Khalen Saunders) had some good snaps in there, so he’s had a good camp.” Saunders played well after Chiefs defensive line coach Brendan Daly recently complimented him on a strong week at training camp. Saunders needed a good summer session to reaffirm his importance to the club, and he now projects to make the 53-man roster.
  14. Kids getting experience. Gray with a tip drop to INT.
  15. No not that AS offense. Just the capabilty of using a Tom Brady Approach when needed.
  16. No doubt KC did not adjust. Going to a get it out fast would have made the game more competitive. Even Mahomes admits he left the pocket to soon to often. My point is to practice it more so when this situation occurs again is not suddenly foreign. I would not change the entire offense. I think Mahomes is weak , or maybe not disciplined, in this part of the game.
  17. Not like Smith but sometimes thats all the defense is giving you. SEE THE SUPERBOWL.
  18. What I have seen is Mahomes pass up many wide open guys in short range to go for a bigger play. Yes I love big plays but Im not sure Mahomes plays the short game well. Get it out quick vs school yard ball.. Im also not sure Mahomes does not change that play at the line. Guys are almost always open in the short routes. Stay in the poket more and take what is there.
  19. I would also like Andy to force Mahomes to play a lot of dink & dunk in pre-season. Mahomes needs to learn to take the small stuff way more often.
