  1. The Chiefs are bringing in Elijah McGuire for a free agent visit. In the wake of the injury to Clyde Edwards-Helaire on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, the Kansas City Chiefs haven’t wasted much time in bringing in some potential reserves with news that free agent running back Elijah McGuire will be coming in for a visit to Arrowhead, per Field Yates. McGuire should be a familiar name for Chiefs Kingdom due to the fact that he was on the roster just a year ago. Brett Veach, the team’s general manager, signed McGuire to the Chiefs practice squad last November. Even as far back as the 2017 NFL Draft, McGuire was a prospect who interested the Chiefs as they interviewed him even then. From there, the New York Jets were the team most willing to invest as they selected him in the sixth round that year. McGuire would spend more than two years with the Jets, and it was there that he put up his only official stats at the pro level, with 180 carries for 591 yards and 4 touchdowns in 24 games of rotational duty.
  2. The Chiefs have now faced a top-five defense on nine occasions with Patrick Mahomes as their starter, per @EliasSports . In those games, they are 9-0 and averaging 29.0 points per game. Pretty decent.
  3. 6 winners and 3 losers from Sunday’s win over the Saints
  4. 5. The Chiefs found some success on the ground. Kansas City racked up 179 rushing yards in Sunday’s victory, which were the second-most New Orleans has allowed all season. In fact, the Saints entered the matchup allowing the second-fewest rushing yards on average in the NFL, yielding just 3.7 yards-per-attempt. Tailback Clyde Edwards-Helaire (79), Bell (62) and Mahomes (37) each contributed to that effort on the ground.
  5. I think KC has the tie breaker even if they lose both games?
  6. Reid says Mitchell Scwartz is feeling better, but he's not back yet. Says he's not sure of Schwartz will be back to the playoffs. "We're taking it day by day."
  7. Yes I gave that song/message to another poster on this board. So Dont Worry Be Happy. Chiefs 13-1
  8. I hate this song too! Ha Ha And now its stuck in my brain. Yuck LOL
  9. I would like to see what Bell can do with 20+ touches? Seems some backs get better as the game goes on. Hard to do that when alternating.
  10. AMEN to That! I changed my avatar hoping to inspire some HAPPY. LOL
  11. Here's a little song I wroteYou might want to sing it note for noteDon't worry, be happyIn every life we have some troubleBut when you worry you make it doubleDon't worry, be happyDon't worry, be happy now'Cause when you worry your face will frownAnd that will bring everybody downSo don't worry, be happy
  12. No doubt Reid has a plan. I think KC is extra careful giving guys extra time to heal and looking at the best health for that playoff run. KC can do this with a 10-1 to 13-1 record. No need to rush anyone back.
  13. Exactly. Its hard enough with just one starter out let alone 3..
  14. Le’Veon Bell gave credit to his run blockers for his most productive day as a Chief. He rushed 62 yards and totaled 76 yards from scrimmage — both season highs. When he was asked about how it happened, he summed it up with one word. “Attitude,” he declared. “Obviously, going to a game like that, we know those guys could be tough up front. They’re really stingy in the run game — I think the week before they gave up a couple 100-yard runners — so we knew they would come in with the motivation to stop the run and not allow that to happen again. We had to come in with the mindset that we could get the job done with whatever we needed, whether we had to throw it or run it. Today — really in the second half — we were called upon to run the ball a lot. I think the guys up front did a tremendous job of moving guys off the ball and creating lanes for me, 25, and 31 to make some plays.” Paradoxically, the Chiefs offensive front has had some of their most impressive performances when dealing with injuries. When right tackle Mitchell Schwartz left the game against the Buffalo Bills in Week 7, the Chiefs still ran for 245 yards. On Sunday, they took it to a talented defensive front with a left tackle who was dealing with a back injury and a right tackle who hadn’t played the position since college. They certainly showed holes in pass protection — Patrick Mahomes was often under pressure and was sacked four times — but the line still took advantage of lighter boxes, helping Chiefs running backs put the game out of reach. To do so against such a formidable opponent was an encouraging sign for how they’ll perform in the postseason — no matter which five offensive lineman are playing.
  15. Wylie “That was the game plan coming in,” he said. “We knew the only chance we had against that front seven [was] if we brought the fight to them — and we did. We ran for a little over 170 tonight. We took the fight to them, for sure. It was a brawl, too — it really was.” At one point, the Saints’ defensive aggression went a little too far. In the fourth quarter, New Orleans defensive end Cameron Jordan got frustrated enough with Wylie to punch him in the helmet. The play led to his immediate disqualification — which was obviously a huge blow to the Saints defense. “He was bringing it all game — and I like to think I was matching his energy,” Wylie said of his battle with Jordan. “I had him in tight there, and I wasn’t letting go. Things got a little hot, a little heated — but it’s not like we were talking or anything. I think he just got caught up in the moment.” Football is a physical, emotional sport where players can lose their self-awareness in the heat of battle. Credit should go to the Chiefs offensive line for bringing an impressive physicality — without dirty play and extra-curricular efforts that could have turned into penalties.
  16. AFCWEST Says: Backups , out of position, Fisher playing hurt. Gutty performance against a good defense. After the game, head coach Andy Reid tipped his hat to the fifth different combination of offensive linemen the Chiefs have used this season. “We scored points against a good defensive front; you’re talking about one of the best defensive fronts if not the best statistically,” Reid pointed out. “I thought we ran the ball efficiently — especially in the second half. We threw the ball well with the exception of a couple of blitzes that they had. They got us at the end, but we were clean for the most part.” Reid said that he had talked to the offense about playing four good quarters of football — and said he was impressed with the effort he saw. “They battled,” he said. “They fought the entire game. They got better as the game went on. The guys stepped up into their roles and found a way to get us across the finish line. Obviously, that’s a good defensive line. I thought they did a good job of battling the entire game.”
  17. It didn’t take long for the Chiefs to announce Edwards-Helaire as doubtful to return. After the game, head coach Andy Reid said that Edwards-Helaire got “twisted up” and revealed that x-rays were negative. Running backs Le’Veon Bell and Darrel Williams will have to make up for the absence of Edwards-Helaire.
  18. I think both NO QBs will play a lot with Hill getting more snaps than Brees. This will be a very tough win today. KC is the better overall team but maybe not today.
  19. In addition to Pringle, offensive lineman Stefen Wisniewski has been added to the active roster. Wisniewski started two regular-season games and three playoff games at left guard down the stretch last season en route to the Chiefs’ The Chiefs have also chosen to elevate cornerback DeAndre Baker and linebacker Emmanuel Smith for the game against the Saints. The Chiefs can elevate two players to a game-day, 55-man roster thanks to the NFL’s new roster rules for 2020. Baker and Smith will revert back to the practice squad on Monday. The Chiefs recently noted Baker had been practicing against their No. 1 receivers, a good sign that he might be ready to compete. Smith has been on the team’s practice squad since mid-October.
