  1. This a clearly someone setting him up to take the fall. Nobody can be this stupid. Who framed Chiefsaholic? Coming soon on Dateline. Need proof? Who would get into that costume and then plan to drive 11 hours to Houston? FRAMED
  2. I did not say anyone said anything about a definite change. Bottom line for me is there is nobody better available that has the experience under pressure Butker has. I doubt KC will bring anyone in for a tryout unless Butker is hurt.
  3. Changing kickers is a complete overreaction. Ill take my chances with a guy that has kicked is numerous playoff games vs some guy off the street that has never kicked under playoff pressure. Butker is proven. Maybe a slump? Maybe that injury? Maybe the holder? Maybe a combo of each?
  4. The bottom line I'm not going to discuss Steve Spagnuolo's long-term standing as defensive coordinator while the season is going. There's no point in it currently. He's the Chiefs' defensive coordinator this season, and nothing will change that. For me, it's only worth discussing this season. In terms of this defense, the film is just bad now. The stats don't look terrible, but the Chiefs have been lucky to face Malik Willis, Bryce Perkins, Davis Mills and the corpse of Matt Ryan to help their stats. The film and process haven't been good, and it's been getting worse recently. To answer my original question, I think the Chiefs can still win the Super Bowl, even with their defense. Patrick Mahomes and this offense are good enough to do that. Still, the margin of error feels incredibly thin. When the offense commits turnovers or Harrison Butker misses kicks, it feels way more consequential than any other point in the Spagnuolo era. The margin of error is a massive thing in the playoffs. You can't play perfectly on any side of the ball in the playoffs. The Chiefs almost have to play perfectly on offense to compete weekly. That's just not going to work in the playoffs.
  5. 3 problems the Chiefs’ defense needs to address before the NFL playoffs 1. Lack of middle-of-the-field pass defense 2. Lack of pass rush around Chris Jones 3. Poor linebacker play Their games aren't the same, but both of their tapes are littered with the same issues: they can't get off blocks and struggle to read anything in coverage and make tackles in space. Bolton, in particular, struggles with making any play in space, which reared its ugly head multiple times on Sunday. Gay's bigger problem has been his coverage recently. Whether it's his man coverage reps or trying to find routes in play action, Gay's recently been a liability in coverage. This has led Spagnuolo to even put Darius Harris on the field — albeit, he's not playing well either. The Chiefs put a lot of investment in Gay and Bolton as cornerstones of their defense, but neither has justified that return on investment yet. They both have moments of excellent splash plays, but the overall tape hasn't been good enough, and it's hurting the defense. https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2022/12/20/23515697/3-problems-the-chiefs-defense-needs-to-address-before-the-nfl-playoffs
  6. Leo Chenal, Linebacker (Round 3, Pick 103) Between Weeks 9 and 14, Leo Chenal only played 40 snaps on defense, but he played 27 snaps against the Texans. 12 were on run defense, he blitzed on one, and was in coverage for 14. He was targeted once in coverage but allowed a 15-yard reception to Amari Rodgers. Against the run. Chenal was incredible. In just 12 run defense snaps, he had five tackles, including four defensive stops (tackles that constitute a “failure” for the offense). Chenal was scouted as a strong run defender coming out of Wisconsin and Week 15 proved that. If he can play as well as he did on Sunday going forward, the Chiefs’ run defense problems may get a little better.
  7. Exactly. KC simply needs to turn the ball over less. KC does not have a WR problem. If Chiefs could return these same players next year on offense they will likely get even better. Guys like Ross & Tuney are depth with great potential Chiefs need a guy like Shuster. That big body guy over the middle. Takes some pressure off Kelce. Hardman and a healthy Toney are not both needed. If healthy I think Toney is the obvious keeper. Hardman heads to free agency even if he takes a lower end deal. You cant keep everybody. Gray seems to be getting much better too. He will likely leave when his contract is up to get a bigger deal and a starting job just like Hardman.
  8. Yes I understand that but its not a fact. Its a fantasy if approach. Its not easy to do if you want to compete now. If you want to completely start over maybe. You also cant assume players will always restructure. I never said anything about KC not getting cap space. My point is you cant keep paying huge massive contracts to a small number of players and field a championship team. Every team gets the same relief with a cap going up. It simply increases player contract amounts. The NFL wants offense .The rules favor offense. The Cap forces teams to make choices. The salary inflation is because most teams are paying bigger dollars for offense. See crazy receiver contracts. To wrap up my thoughts. KC will always be offense first. The defense will be average at best. Trade some picks to move up in the draft for ready to go high ceiling players on defense. You get defensive talent on rookie contracts. I think this was Veach approach in the last draft and he may be more aggressive in this draft.
  9. So its not reality. Its a huge big fantasy if. 112 million if?
  10. “For the second half, can we have Lionel Messi kick our extra points via Zoom?” “Okay, I give up. Which member of the Chiefs organization stole Carl Cheffers’ girlfriend in high school?” “Yes, the past two weeks have been rocky, but we always knew the Broncos and Texans games were the brutal part of the schedule.” “You think these missed kicks and turnovers are annoying now? Just wait until the playoffs!” “Instead of ‘AFC West Champions,’ they’re passing out T-shirts reading, ‘Congrats on barely beating the freakin’ Texans.’” “I’m sorry, Mr. Butker. There doesn’t seem to be a return flight ticket for you.” “After three games on the road, it’ll be great to get back to Kansas City and the (checks Saturday’s weather) -2 degree weather.” “We’d like to thank the Colts and Patriots for taking the sports world’s attention off of our ugly performance http://8 things overheard as the Chiefs defeated the Texans
  11. But what Smith-Schuster has brought to the Kansas City offense goes beyond the numbers. He has become a reliable receiver on whom Mahomes can depend. Smith-Schuster has caught over 77% of his targets — including a perfect 10/10 against Houston on Sunday. He’s demonstrated a great feel for space against the zone coverage — with strong hands that can make tough catches against tight man coverage. With teams doing everything they can to stop Kelce, Smith-Schuster has become a player that Mahomes can trust in key situations. The bottom line The Chiefs’ offense has been very efficient in 2022 — and Smith-Schuster has been a huge part of that. His chemistry with Mahomes — missing at the beginning of the season — is now right where it needs to be. That’s going to pose a problem for opposing defenses. Mahomes knows that if Kelce is doubled, there is someone else on offense who can (and will) make a play. Smith-Schuster hasn’t provided Kansas City with many flashy plays, but he has been dependable — and he’s been doing the dirty work to keep the sticks moving. He has truly become the team’s No. 1 wideout. If he can keep it up, the Chiefs’ offense will continue to be very tough to defend. https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2022/12/19/23515919/chiefs-juju-smith-schuster-becomes-no-1-wide-receiver
  12. Packers waived WR Sammy Watkins. Watkins will pass through waivers and, if he remains unclaimed, will be free to sign with any team. Watkins is only 29, but his career appears to be winding down after unimpressive stints with the Ravens last year and the Packers this season. In seven games with Green Bay, Watkins caught 13 passes for 206 yards. He hasn't topped 700 yards since 2015. With Romeo Doubs returning from injury, Watkins faced a playing time squeeze with the Packers. He may catch on as a depth option
  13. I think Clark gave that money up in his restructured deal?
  14. Ross a TONEY are injury prone. Toney has played about 6 games in two years? Moore, unlike many rookie receivers in the NFL, has not been close to a starter. His season has been anything but assuring. Maybe you count on one of these guys. Not three? If Kelce went down Mahomes would have no go to guy.
  15. MVS is a proven NFL guy. He is not really a #1. Schuster is also on the team. Chiefs dont really have a current #1. Ross has mostly proven to be injured and a serious injury at that. Very risky.
  16. Sure , I hope so, but that is a huge risk. Do you take that chance and potentially waste a prime Mahomes year?
  17. Not disagreeing. So then you go with who? The Chiefs D will always be average at best. Mahomes needs weapons. He needs a #1 guy. Where do you find that on the cheap? Chiefs win with 30+ points per game. Kelce is not getting younger and has almost never missed a game.
  18. Show me the 120 million please. I love nice things for Christmas.
  19. I would dump OBJ. Lots of teams are playing in this years play offs with back up left tackles. LT is not as critical to Mahomes health as some think. Either way Brown has played like a back up. Mahomes is still standing and the Chiefs are 11-3 May get a nice comp pick?
  20. Is there an elite player at 19? Maybe. Chiefs need to decide on Brown before the draft so LT may not be a need. Chiefs will be at 32 as SB Champs!
  21. We disagree and that 120 million in cap space is fake news. Show me 120 million please. Free agents are always an over pay. Reid at safety is not good. He was not good in Houston. The defense still sucks. It just got toasted by two of the most pathetic offenses in NFL history. I dont blame Veach. The current strategy of drafting on D is not working. Why? No real elite draft picks. That has been used mostly for offense. Yes McDufee may become elite. Nice trade up.
  22. Veach and DE picks. Finding a great DE is almost as difficult as an Elite QB. You dont get them late in round one. You move up to #10 and draft elite, potential, players like Mahomes. You get projects or injured players late in round one
  23. Wishful thinking. Clark is at 15 million. I dont see a Bosa type guy signing for 15 million. Everything is a risk. Chiefs dont need another 10+ player draft. I would get the top defensive guy in the draft if a DE that is elite is not available. Chiefs need help in all areas on defense. They have plenty of average NFL players. They need more play makers at all levels. They need to pay Jones & Shuster. Sadly they probably keep Brown. I think its 20+ million on a franchise tag. Heck SF is winning with Mr Irrelevant at QB. Pacheko was a 7th round pick. Nothing is guaranteed. Everything has risk. We know what Jones and Shuster can do.
